...it's still there! I just...it makes no sense to me how they can make a bunch of these small world bags and not get the same amount of stock for their only other ride bag. Hopefully if this one sells well, they'll make more stock of the HM bag?

Holy Cow!!!!!! I just looked on Ebay, and they are asking $850-$950!!!! I got one back in December, and I love it!!!! Get compliments all the time!!!!!

I am so glad I found this thread, I've been sulking about not getting a HM bag for a while now. This weekend I saw them going for over $750 on Ebay and considered just getting rid of my collection because the way Disney handled this sucked the magic out of collecting for me....you can almost see me sulking thru the computer...

Anyway, I think Disney & Dooney have a quality control issue on their hands. After the initial release they told us the bag was not limited. Now the supply has dried up and we are hearing about the red lining running...which is a crime on a bag this expensive. Anyway, I work for a footwear manufacturer and when we have quality issues they pull samples and if the issue is bad enough they halt production until the issue is resolved. So my guess is that the suede running is an issue that they are trying to correct.

Also, if they had to pull production on the HM bag until they could find a suitable replacement of fix for the red suede they would have to give the factory something else to produce in place of the HM bag possibly delaying production on the HM bag further after a fix was found. So anyway what I am saying is that I firmly believe that they are trying to fix or fixing the QC issue and we'll see more soon.

The lead time is probably 60-90 days, plus 20 or so days to ship via ocean from China, then more time to get to the WH and WDW.

So lets keep our chins up and not purchase on Ebay. You know that Disney loves our money so if the corrected bags are not back on shelves by April/May I will be amazed.

That is a good theory. But you have to remember that Dooney and Bourke does not mass market anything!
One reason they can charge so much..... and people pay..... is that their bags are unique and people don't expect that they will see anyone else carrying it!
I honestly don't think we will see anymore of the same HM bags. There may be others HM styles come through..... but they will be different you can pretty much guarantee that.

Just got off the phone with Merchandising and nothing new. She said she's heard that they're not coming back, but said she wouldn't see how that would make any sense. I mentioned April and she said she heard that too.

I commented on the Disney store page 3 days ago and got no comment back, and my comment from Disney parks blog got deleted (It was a little sassy-nothing vulgar, but when Steve Miller says "The bag wasn't limited and I know of at least two times they were available online to purchase" you can't not be sassy.)

Look at us, the bag was released in Sept and we are still hot to buy one, and they are going for over $700 on Ebay...if that's not brand heat I don't know what is!! Dooney must be over the moon about this as they aren't the most longed for handbag brand in the world.

I do agree with you that they are guarding the info which is making many of us annoyed. I really think they should toss us a bone, their customer service on this one was far from magical.

Well stated!! And just to add I never had any issues getting any of the Disney LeSportsacs.......except the Tokyo exclusive which I did buy on e bay.....
In this instance Dooney does NOT= magic!

I agree I definitely think it's a quality issue. Disney is not one to stop selling something that is not limited edition/release that makes them a ton of money.

But they have said they don't intend on making more.
QC can't be the only issue since I haven't had any problems with mine what so ever.

I am really glad you are not having an issue with yours! That's good to hear.

Did they really say they were not making more? Or did they say there are no plans at this time? I thought it was no plans at this time..but I could be wrong.

One more thing, I sent Dooney an email 4 days ago about the HM bag and the Florentine Satchel that I am considering...no reply, thats lame. Before Disney I wouldn't have given their brand a second look, now I am looking to purchase a $400 satchel and I can't get them to reply to an email. I don't think they get it.

Anyway, lets hope for April availability! I'm going to be there at the end of the month, I hope I don't run into the Merch team from the blog..lol.

Actually what they do with items that are non hazardous but damaged is put them into a super secret CM discount store where everything is 75% off! I told CM friend who's been keeping an eye out for the bag for me and herself (she says they're so rare that she'd be convinced I'd made them up had she not seen the website! Also, she works at Space Mountain, one of the most ridden rides in the park, and has never seen somebody with one! Crazy!) at the stores in the park to keep an eye out for them in the discount store because of the quality control issue.

I would bet money that if they did go to the 75% off store they'd be gone in under 120 seconds- and 115 are taken up by the cashier. But Imagine paying $80 for something someone just paid $800 on ebay! Talk about pixie dust! That's why I've had my fingers crossed for QC issues.

I'm not sure if they have good intentions or not (I kind of doubt it) but either way that picture actually hurt to see...like physical pain. I'm kinda considering posting this picture to disney's facebook and demanding a response but I'm sure they'll just be quiet still.
