New! Haunted Mansion-Inspired Dooney & Bourke Bag

I'm likely sending my original bag back to D&B this weekend to be fixed or replaced (assuming they have the ability to replace it). Has anyone with the newer bags (purple lining) had issues with the black and grey flaking off on the outside? While I honestly prefer the purple lining to the red, if there will be similar quality control issues with the new bags, I think I'd rather just keep mine. Especially since I have to foot the bill for shipping it to their facility.

My red lined bag had a few white specs after a few months of use, but my replacement purple one doesn't have any yet. The lining hasn't bled either. It seems like they've made the quality much better. Also, Dooney supposedly will refund you $13 for shipping.....although, I still haven't received my shipping refund yet.

i don't own this bag so can't help on your question, but i do own several of the earlier disney dooney bags and i was wondering something. the earlier bags were coated canvas, that is cotton fabric covered with a clear layer. sometimes this caused problems with yellowing . then dooney changed all their bags to the current versions. when i see these bags, they look like vinyl with printing applied as opposed to printed fabric with a clear coating. does anyone know for sure if the newer disney dooneys are coated canvas or just vinyl with printing on it? the reason i ask is that this would explain the flaking off of the colors. anyone?

Thank you! I was just looking at my bag again and another corner is starting to flake off badly. I'll ship it out this weekend, if not sooner. I just hope they can replace it. Seems we had a rash of them appearing on the store website, but none recently.

I have a few early dooneys with Disney patterns. I'll have to look to see if they are printed fabric or not. I believe what I have now is vinyl with the print applied. I assume the vinyl is white, since that's the color showing where the black and grey has flaked off.

I have had my bag with purple lining for about 6 weeks now. I use it pretty much daily. No problems with flaking - I check it frequently because of the issues that other posters have stated. Regarding coating vs printing, etc - the print seems to be well integrated in the overall color and I don't notice an obvious coating. I'm not a D&B expert, though - this is my first high end purse!

I thought I might be sending my bag back as well. I haven't carried the purse yet, so I didn't notice until last night, but one side of the handle on the back (non-pocket) side of the purse was attached reversed (twisted) so the white stitching was on the inside. Anyway, the ring is one piece, so you couldn't slip the strap out and reverse it. And, I thought the looped piece was sewn/glued down so you couldn't fix it that way. DH assured me he didn't think anyone would notice, but I said that wasn't acceptable for a purse in this price point (and with all the drama to boot!). Thankfully, he used a bit more elbow grease than I had and discovered you could indeed pop the looped piece off the hardware, slip it out and line the handle properly. Whew!

Still crazy they would ship it out that way, and I was pretty unhappy with the prospect of having to send it back. What is up with the quality control on these bags?

So I just sent my Dooney back to see if they will send me a new one because I also had the red lining stain my D&B wallet(which I sent back as well), fabric chipping, and handles fraying ... I hope they send me the purple lined and not the supposed green lining ppl are saying that will come out in the fall!!! Little nervous!

Just had to share with others who would get my crazy!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight I saw the blue button, pressed it and it actually put it in my bag. I logged in and then BOOM bag empty and sold out. I thought I was going to be sick.

I read in a review that one lady just kept hitting the button anyway so I did for like 10 minutes (meanwhile I went in and put in my credit card info), then all of the sudden it was in my bag again. YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

You're so sweet. I was finally able to give my sister her bag this passed week. She was so shocked and happy - the first words out of her mouth when she opened up the big Disney box and saw the bag all wrapped in the Dooney and Burke paper were "You did not!!!" she was so surprised I snagged one for her. It was like Christmas for me I love watching other people open their presents and being shocked and happy by what they get - it's my favorite part!

I wouldn't mind the green, as long as it's not a mix of green and red. I sent mine back Saturday. It was weirdly difficult to pack it up for shipping out. The exterior started to wear away on another corner just within the last few weeks and I only imagine it will get worse.

So it seems like quite a few people are having to return theirs for flaking, chipping, fraying, etc. Has anyone received a new one in return this way? How long does it take? Do they guarantee the bag for a certain amount of time or always?

It sounds like they were, but when I checked about mid-morning (after seeing the post here), they were once again sold out. At least it seems they're being offered with an increased frequency, so hopefully, that's a good sign. Congrats to those who snagged one, and to everyone else, don't give up!

Gah, I hope there is a shoulder bag and I hope they appear during our trip at the end of August! I have been hemming and hawing over the size of the current bag and decided I have to see it in person to decide.
