New hamburger/hotdog rolls at Disney

Maybe they took the trans fats out? They did this here (NY) and all the fast food places. It all started with a very "obese" child whose mom sued McDonalds because her kid was eating at McD's 3 x a day and he got to be like "really big". So suddenly nobody else wanted to get sued so they all decided to get "healthy". Maybe that is what Disney is doing. I hate whole wheat bread.
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: I can't believe people are able to get away with this junk. Hey lady, stop going there...HELLO!

I usually try to make healthier alternatives at home by buying whole wheat products vs. white (bread, buns, pasta, torillias, etc) but their are no taste problems at all. But the grocery store offers all kinds of bread and we as individuals make the choice as to what we want to buy. I am all for having the option at all fast food places to be able to select a whole wheat bun over white, but it should not be the only choice available, but an alternative to the traditional. What's next, egg beaters instead of whole eggs for breakfast meals? Only fat free milk available? When does it end? :sad2:

My dad and sister are in Disney right now. I called them specifically to ask about the rolls because my dad told me yesterday he had a delicious double cheeseburger.

His response was that it was very tasty. He was aware they were different roll but he and my sister both agreed that they were fine.

I don't mind wheat and I am hoping when I am there next month that its ok and not as horrible as being described. I hate stale bread and I will gladly take mine back to the counter and ask for a refund if its nasty!

I ordered a Burger from Pecos Bill and it was good. The bread wasn't stale, however, it lacked the bread flavor that I like. Now the hot dogs are another story. I prefer mine on a white, soft roll that absorbs some of the hot dog taste....do you know what i mean? The 2 hot dogs that I had (one at BB and one at the America pavillion) just didn't taste right on these buns. However, I did eat my burger and my hot dogs, they just weren't as good as they were before. I have no problem having a turkey sandwich or a tuna sandwich on wheat bread, but just not a hot dog or hamburger. I plan on sending my complaint to Disney suggesting that they offer a choice.

They really should offer a choice -- not all of us "can" eat whole wheat. I'm allergic to it. I knew about the burgers, and was okay with that, but the pizza dough? :sad1: :sad2:

Slightly OT, but...

If you ever find yourself in Disneyland Paris, go to their Casey's. An all-beef (and probably kosher) dog in a french roll. But, rather than slicing the roll, it's sort of drilled, and the dog is stuffed in the middle.

Despite the theming to an American hot dog joint, it was distinctly French, but oh so very good!

. After all, we would all get up in arms if the ticket prices go higher, right? :rotfl:

I wouldn't. I want Disney to charge a price that is needed to contine serving a quality product. If that means the hotdog or burger are a dollar or so more, so be it. If that means that the tickets go up a couple of dollars, I'm fine with that

It's not just the buns/rolls that have changed. The burgers themselves have changed or so it would seem.

I'm also wondering about the "old and stale" thing. I buy and eat whole wheat bread and buns here at home and they are neither tasteless, dry, or any other negative. Regardless of whether or not they contain more "whole wheat" as opposed to the processed bleached stuff that we are used to, they should be soft and taste good! Bad decision, Disney head of company food guys!!:upsidedow

Old and stale is an issue whether your bun is white, wheat, rye, pumpernickel, or what have you. I hope this thread can last long enough to hear what current patrons are receiving. Maybe it was a "bad batch" or just something that came in stale. I would hope that they aren't trying to get longer shelf life out of a lesser product. We already bring our own bottles of water to WDW, are we going to have to bring hamburger buns in too??:lmao:

I have to say this all has me very worried for our trip in September. DH loves hamburgers and hates whole wheat bread. He is going to be so angry. At home we eat healthy so as a compromise to the whole wheat I buy him the "Smart" bread - you know the stuff that has whole wheat flour but tastes like white. Why couldn't they do something like that??

I don't like whole wheat and found the buns to be fine and the kids ate the pizza. The burgers on the other hand have always been nasty and remain unchanged nasty as always.

When I was there in January, I didn't notice any nasty buns. The pizza crust at TSPP was the same as always. I did notice, however, that all the TS restaurants I went to had the same white roll (the kind of white, oval-shaped ones), instead of offering variety. I did sent a complaint to Disney about some things, and I mentioned that the quality of food had seemed to have gone down at TS restaurants. I thought, overall, the food at the CS was still good.

I've had the new buns. If there's more than 10% whole wheat in there, I'll eat my mickey ears (which, by the way, are a wonderful source of fiber.)

The buns I had, while having little flecks of brown in them, were just as soft, squishy, and substanceless as I remember them.

I agree with this. We went to Disney March 21-March 28, 2008 and I had the new buns. They were soft, squishy and tasted just like white bread.

Oh good that is exactly what I wanted to hear. When I first heard about the changes it seemed like that was the intention (hide a little nutrition in there without people noticing) which I am good with since it is exactly what I do with dh's bread at home. I was just getting really worried because so many people were complaining.

I like sliced wheat bread for turkey sandwiches, etc.

I do not like wheat buns. The new buns do have flecks of wheat in them and are not as good as the old regular white buns.

The Mickey burgers have always sucked. Frozen processed patties that have that "flower" shape around the edges. The first thing I do when I leave Disney World is get a good cheeseburger!

MAN I was hoping u were gonna say they changed them back. I'm not looking forward to cosmic rays anymore:sad2:

My kids are 2 skinny and the way we look at it we walk miles on end at DW each day so if I want to eat a burger on white bread thats on me I want a choice. I AM THROWING A FIT I HATE WHEAT BREAD YUCK :sad1:

Just saw this about the change. Our trip is in two weeks.

So, what happens if you cannot eat whole grain breads? My mother has kidney problems and that's on the do not eat list.

It is stupid that there's no choice of white or wheat.

As much as I disagree with WDW's choice to shove "healthy dining" down everyone's throat versus "choices" like most places have and think it is a bad business choice, I have to also say:

Are you guys kidding me???
Only 1/2 of all Americans eligible to vote in the general elections DO, when we are dealing with high gas prices and the problems that come with it due to horrible energy policies passed by our Congress and voting is the major way to force change , yet there is a thread about rolls at WDW? There is world hunger and food rationing, but we are worried about the rolls? I checked out this link because I thought maybe there was a food poisioning scare or something strange...I can understand being upset by the lack of choice (which is totally wrong on WDW's part), but do you really think WDW cares? We can all send 12 emails a day and they could care less...did the change the dining plan tip thing after people were up in a huff? Every single thing WDW does (and I am as big a WDW fan as you all) is for one thing: to make money. Even their forcing the "healthy menu" is cheaper for them in the long run. Just stop going to WDW for a year or two...hitting companies in the bottom line is the only way to get them to change, sad to say. But there are bigger problems in the world than crappy rolls at WDW.

Flame on!
