In my neck of the woods, new RN's are not being hired, anywhere! There are hiring freezes, and no real traning programs for new graduating RN's. Everyone requires at LEAST a year of hosptial experience, and last years graduating class is still mostly unemployed! This area has so many RN programs and we just flood the market. I need to move. I did not leave my career to go back to school only to end up back at my old job! The whole "nursing shortage" does not apply here.

I am willing to relocate if I can get accepted into an RN residency program, does anyone know of any? I am googling away and plan to send out resumes over winter break. I really like the idea of extra training and I will graduate with an Associates and taking the boards to be an RN this summer. I need to find a job! I would love to know of any great residency programs!

Anyone know anywhere that new RNS are being hired?

Check with the various hospitals in Minnesota. Not only are many still hiring, the pay is excellent too.

New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center has a nurse residency program for new grads in certain departments - ICU's, ER, not sure where else. I saw openings posted for the postpartum unit but I'm not sure if they participate in the residency program.

The hospital is number 6 in the nation.

They also have hospital housing. They own multiple apartment buildings surrounding the hospital and offer reduced rent to their nursing staff. I know that they have multiple apartments available since they built a brand new building last year.

I am not sure where you are located... but girlfriend.. get out your Nursing vocational magazines... and start looking at those back pages... and start calling facilities... :)

Most rural hospitals would love to have you, most Skilled Nursing Facilities would love to have you... Check out the VA Hospitals...

That being said.... check out stl.com for the St. Louis area... maybe you will find something you like.

Best wishes for a grand future!

I don't know about residency programs, but they are building three giant, new hospitals in my town. Seems like they would have to need nurses. I live in Katy, Texas.

Thanks guys! Following up on all the leads :) Finally feeling hopeful!
