NEW!!! Going to Disney for the first time in Sept

Actually, that's not true. The Addons are tracked separate of the park tickets, so you have 5 addon entrances (either WP od DQ) AND 5 park entrances.

You could even go 5 days to the park followed by 5 days to the addons if you wanted :)

REALLY! WOW!! Well damn!

NEVERMIND APRIL!!! HAHAHA!

WooHoo!!! Thank you so much!!!! Im glad I was right... This will save us a little money!!! I think we are doing the 4 day pass... We were doing the 5 then change to the 6. But now I will just go with the 4 day pass and do the water park n more add on!!! Im so happy!!!

Used to have a fee but I believe it's free now, was last time we were there....they say you must know how to swim and it's very cold salt water..70 degrees....really hard getting in after being in the 90 temps but an experience all its own...enjoy...

Yes, the snorkeling at Shark Reef in Typhoon Lagoon is free. You can actually rent a small air tank rig and then you get to float for longer if you want, but to just float across the reef is free. It will last from 1-3 minutes and as the PP mentioned, the water is COOOLLLD when you first get in, but you quickly acclimate. It was a a very fun little addon at the park.

Also, make sure you check out the Crush-n-Gusher there at Typhoon Lagoon. It is a water roller coaster, much lik ethe one on the new disney Dream (except longer and faster).

The lack of swimming skill would not be a problem, they have life vests, plus it is salt ocean water so you are way more buoyant. Your biggest challenge may be getting into the cold water! :)

ha ha you got that right about the cold water.... Ewww.. But maybe it would be worth it.... its only for 5 mins...:yay:

Welcome to the boards! We're going the end of August and I can't wait, we're trying out the PopCentury this time to save money. Have a great trip!!!

We are doing a split stay... 4 nights at CBR and 3 nights at POP!!! I can't wait....

I think you will love the time of year. We are happily off siters (time share exchange) so can't help with the resort, I know you will love it though! We should be there about two weeks before you, as I do love the "non crowded parks" always subject to change though. Have a great trip! :hippie:

ABSOLUTELY worth it! We had just gotten back from a DCL cruise the first time I did it, and it really felt like I was back in Nassau snorkeling... only drawback was it goes by fast.

Hi April, this is April! :lmao:

We went in September 2009 and loved it! Our dates were 25-3, so same exact week. It was also our first trip. We loved it so much we're going back this September 22-30. We stayed at ASMu the first trip but are going for POR this trip. We love ASMu, but just wanted to try a different place and being a family of 5 POR was within our budget. I'm sure we'll love it too from everything I've read.

Anyway, wanted to let you know we needed a wheelchair for my son and was able to get one from the resort for no cost. It is first come, first serve so you'd be taking a chance there. I went to get it the first day we were there, asked if I needed to turn it in each day and they told me no just turn it in at final checkout.

I know that you can purchase a transport chair (which is what you'll get at the resort or if you rent one) for around $100, so it may be worth purchasing one if you think you'll use it more than once. Although my son doesn't need one at home we are considering it just so he has a chair that is his and we don't have to worry about if it gets damaged or whatever.

Okay, that was a much longer response than necessary :rotfl2:

I can't help myself when talking about Disney. Let me know if you have any other questions about touring with a wheelchair and I also recommend the DISabilities board.

So, just wanted to share that!

I hope you have a wonderful trip!:wizard:

Thank you April....

My son Caleb doesnt need it around home. He would just need it for Dinsey as there will be alot of walking ( he has weak muscel tone and gets tired much sooner then kids his own age) Caleb doesnt even like to go inside Walmart with me...:rotfl: he say i buy to much ( and its to much walking) so I know for sure we will need a wheel chair for him!!! How was your trip with your son??? Im going to have to call the resort about getting one for free. Thank you for that info!! :-)

I love to go to Disney....I prefer to stay on site rather than offsite. We have done both!
We have stayed at Pop Century and Music ??. I am glad that we joined DVC because now we have a room with a microwave and fridge!

A word of caution about the ones at the resorts. They are not intended for a long day in the park. Many of them are not in the best repair and are very "used" making them much harder to push and maneuver. They are sized for adults so that can be uncomfortable for a child sitting in it for a long amount of time. And as mentioned they are first come first served, and also up to the discretion of the person you are talking to so you can't count on that being an option. At least make sure you have a phone number of a rental location and plan for renting one in your budget.

Have you taken a look at our resorts board? There are tons of photos and information over there for each resort.

My son has the same issues with alot of walking. We did not get him a chair the first day and he did not enjoy himself very much because he got so tired. After getting one he had the best time! He also has MR and is at a functioning level of about a 3-4 year old (he's 16). We have taken many vacations, but none quite compare to our Disney vacation...which is why we're going back this year! My son could participate in everything and therefore our whole family could participate in everything...ie: no sitting out with him for hubby or myself while the other goes to do something with the other kiddos. It was truly magical!!:cloud9: We have taken wonderful vacations, but have just never had quite the family experience that we had at WDW.

I agree with PP, definitely have a back up plan in case you can't get a chair through the resort. But...I would definitely try the resort first. Our chair was nice and we had no problems pushing it around. My son was 14 at the time, about 4'8" and weighed about 98 pounds at the time, just to give you a clue on his size and being comfortable in the chair.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
