Has anyone used the rest of there regular detergent in the new washers to use it up?

Will it hurt the new machines? Do you have to water the regular kind down or use less?

I haven't had a chance to get the new stuff yet and I want to try out my new machine today.

I just got mine today with the dryer and a stove so I have a ton to reading to do...TIA!

We have the neptune (top loading) but have the same detergent recomendations as the front loading ones.

We use a "regular" detergent, and only use about 1/2 of the amount recommended on the package. We do not water it down.

The reason we don't use the detergents specific for front-loading machines is we can't find any that are "free" i.e. no dyes, no added scents etc.

I have an LG/Tromm machine. It uses about half what we used in our top loader.

I have to use liquid detergent due to allergies, so YMMV with powdered.

I cannot use the recommeded detergent due to DD's allergies, so I use my regular powdered detergent in my front loader. Like others have said, I only use half the recommeded amount.

I use the detergents made for the front loaders, stocking up when on sale. I am not fussy about the brand. I do have friends however that very good results with regular Arm and Hammer.

We bought our front loader about 5 years ago and have always used the regular liquid detergent. In fact the salesman told us we could just use less. Never had a problem and you will love your front loader. Saves a ton of time in the dryer.

How do you like the LG/Tromm? We'll be getting one soon, I hope!

Glad to hear about being able to use the regular detergent. I tend to stock up, and have a bunch around anyway.

I have the Whirlpool Duet set and I use the regular detergent. The HE detergents just don't have the nice scent that the regular kind has. I use Tide with Febreze liquid detergent and softener. My clothes smell soooo good. I use about half of what I did when I had my top loader. I love my front loader!!!!!!!!

I'm very happy with the LG/Tromm. The only issues I have are inherent with any front loader and come from me not checking completely that I have everything I want to put in the load! So, that said, there's nothing wrong with the machine, and sometimes something wrong with the operator. :)

We have the Kenmore Elite H3 series units and love them :flower:
I buy the Tide HE formula when it is on sale and have been using the Tide with Fabreeze lately and just use less. I just love the Fabreeze smell :cloud9: Anyway, the washer gets out any stain I have and I am constantly amazed at how well both the washer and dryer work - my clothes are so very clean. My only complaint is the rubber lining inside the door of the washer has developed some mold or dark coloring type of stain. That is kinda bumming me out :guilty: My set is three years old. Good luck!

Does anyone have problems with the water not completel getting out of the rubber seal around the door? That is one thing I am bummed about and another is the new dryer still doesn't dry well. I thought getting a new one would help. :confused3

Which brand did you buy???? I have read that some brands(sorry, can't remember which ones) are notorious for mildew because of the water laying in the seal. How long does it take you to dry a load of clothes? It takes me about 35 minutes to dry an average load of clothes(not counting anything heavy like jeans, that takes about 10 minutes longer).

When we bought our front loaders, the sales guy said we could use regular detergent, but to use a lot less of it - like only 1/3 of what you normally use.

I've never tried it, though - we always use the HE

I've had my front loading washer and dryer for 3 years now and I can't even count the number of clothing items the washer has ruined. It bends or rips the hooks off my bras, zippers come off, puts holes in my sheets. Sure I use a lot less detergent but I replace tons of clothes. It's just too rough.

We have a front loader and we don't even use 1/3 of what would be Normal for the regular detergent.

Also, when it's empty, just leave the door open and let the rubber seal dry off; no more mildew or bad smell.

My first front loader was the Maytag Neptune and I used the regular detergent. The salesman said there was no difference. My Maytag died (of course) and I just got a new Bosch. The salesman for the Bosch was much more knowledgable about lots of things and he said that not using HE detergent could clog the drain lines with soap because HE detergent doesn't suds up like regular. He knew enough about everything else and the store didn't even sell detergent so he wasn't making anything on it, so I believe him. I have tried the Tide and the Cheer so far. I did find a perfume/dye free kind at Target. I think it was called Method.

We got the Kenmore (3.5 sized) washer, from last year model I am guessing. Not the H2,3,4 series, it only comes in white but has the big 15" drawers. I have only done 3 loads but afterward I have been drying the rubber area which is holding water and leaving the door ajar.

We have some minor issues with our stove (missing a piece and not installed correctly) and dryer (bad scatch and to be replaced) so I will ask about that when I call about the other things.

That's interesting - last year - we looked, looked, looked and finally stopped looking for an HE perfume/dye free detergent!

Thanks!

I also have to have perfume/dye free and Sears has their own brand of HE soap and they have a perfume/dye free version. I have used it with no problems, and I have lots of allergies!!

Yikes! What brand do you have? I thought one of the great things about front-loaders was that they were easier on clothes because of no agitator.
