New free dining offer yeaaah

I am hoping it is true as well. I do have a DV but not have received any info. Even before this "news" came out we are booked the 14th-19th of Nov. I was able to switch our free flights to Sunday the 13th. Am I able to add this night to our reservation w/out putting another 200 down? I am calling in a few minutes!

This thread has become so addictive. :rotfl2: It like trying to keep up with a soap opera. :happytv:

Are you sure DIS isn't the center of the universe? :disrocks: :thumbsup2

Hoping this isn't redundant but this is the 1st time I have booked a trip at Disney so just want the advice of you experience Disers. We currently have a trip booked in 3 weeks but my daughter is having medical issues and I need to cancel it.If FD get extended however we would still be able to afford the trip and we could go in early Nov.So, should I book that week now and hope I can go in later and apply FD to it or just wait til it becomes officially available?Because I know even if you have a ressie it doesnt guarantee there are rooms left to apply the promo too and then I would have to change things around again.
And question #2 just want to make sure,as long as your check in day falls under the promo your whole trip does? I am hoping to do Nov 1-11th the FD dates right now are til Nov 5,would I still be covered from the 6th to the 11th because I know that seems to be blacked out for Jersey week? Thanks!
You would need 2 seperate reservations

So if I am reading your post correctly,if a family staying at a value resort and if they want the deluxe dinning instead of QS,they would pay $44.00 per adult and $10.00 per child per day, that is if the Free Dinning is for their check in date.Is this correct? I am trying to figure out about a friend who is booked at the value resort and has already upgraded to the deluxe dinning for 2 adults and 2 children (3 &6).I know that if the free dinning does come out for their days the price of their package should come down even with them keep the deluxe dinning. They are booked for 6nights,7 days.Any help would be great.

Yes , just adding another day does not mean a new reservation. Do not bother calling as they will not be able to tell you anything about free dining...

A good point made by a few:

If this rumor is true - it will be OFFICIAL before 7 AM tomorrow. You will see something here on the boards at the very least. I recommend not deluging CRO with calls at 7 AM unless you see that it is really happening.

Regardless of how it's come out, they've never had a GP deal that they haven't ANNOUNCED.

SP

So do they typically announce a deal prior to when it opens? How much lead time is usual?

Yes, that is the correct amount that your friends would have to pay to upgrade from the Quick Service DDP to the Deluxe DDP.

They might want to run the numbers, especially if they were paying for a fridge rental and preferred, a mod might be just a little bit more, and then they would only have to upgrade from basic to deluxe which wouldn't be as big of a difference.

Their friends are staying at the All-Star Music Suites, which have a kitchenette, they aren't paying any fridge fees and the ASMu Suites are actually more expensive than a standard Moderate room.

You guys are getting me nervous with the whole "booking between 6 and 7am" thing. Last year we booked our trip 2 weeks out - so somewhere around Oct 10th for our Oct 26th arrival. With free dining, at a mod.

Is there anything different this year that would make it necessary to call within minutes of the promotion being announced ? Maybe not as many rooms available?! 7am is 1PM for me and I'll be at work so it really won't be feasible at all.

Probably not.

No info has suggested there are fewer rooms.

Honestly, you'll PROBABLY be fine calling any time tomorrow. PROBABLY.

There have been instances where some of the smaller resorts, and some room categories, sell out quickly. Sometimes the same day they're released. Not every year, not every time they offer FD, not even the same resorts or categories. But it happens.

So if waiting causes you serious anxiety, call at 7 AM.

If "life" prevents that, call as soon as you are able. You'll probably be fine.

Sometimes, if it's a DV deal, the email comes the afternoon/evening/night before it goes up.

But for the General public deals? Often some reputable site confirms it the day (usually later in the day) prior..but not always. Disney, on the other hand, doesn't say ANYTHING about a deal until it "goes live". In fact, they will usually (and sometimes quite firmly) deny there IS a deal, coming, right up until it "goes live".

I'm sorry, but I have to say, Disney Visa is known for NOT contacting their card holders when a discount or promo is going on. I have had a Disney Visa for years and have never recieved an email from them for a DV offer that had not already gone out to the general public. On some promos I have never recieved a email or alert at all. I have always gotten the DV codes here on the Dis long before Disney Visa themselves. And really, you will find this is true for most of the DV holders around here. The only reason we keep this card it to get a jump on deals like this, if they aren't going to give it to DV holders first anymore, there won't be much point in us keeping this card.

OH so FD wouldnt cover the whole week of Nov 1-11th? That stinks I thought I'd be covered :( darn have to rethink the whole trip now

If I read this thread correctly, you should be good for the whole trip since check in day is covered

Question…
If I am scheduled to arrive on October 9, and the FD end date is October 8, would Disney allow me to extend my package and pay for a day early? I am sure they would, but the big catch would be that I won’t be actually checking in the resort until the next day. Has anyone tried this?

I have done the math, and will still be saving several hundred dollars despite eating the cost of a night I won’t be staying there.
