New free dining offer yeaaah

I think it should be noted that not everyone may be able to add the FD to their current reservations without having to make some change. This happened to us a few years back. We had a reservation at a moderate, standard view and when we tried to apply the FD to our existing reservation, we were told we had to either change our reservation to a water/pool view or switch resorts as there were no more "standard views" available at our current resort that would qualify for the free dining. Sounded ridiculous to me, as we already had a standard vw booked but that's what happened. Similar thing happened to friends of ours who were booked at the BC, garden view...when they tried to apply FD to their existing reservation, they were told they couldn't and that there were no more rooms available for FD at the BC and would have to switch resorts completely if they wanted FD.

FD is offered to fill rooms, if a resort has a certain percentage of rooms already booked for your dates then the resort or certain room catagories may not be offered (availability) for the FD promo.
This is a common misconception that FD can just be "applied" to a current reservation which is not the case, the cm must modify your current reservation to the promotion which can only be done if the same resort/room catagory shows availability under said promo whether it be for FD or another discount.

While there is resort availability (rooms able to be booked in that category) only a certain number of rooms in each category is allocated to promotions. It's a big number, but it's not ALL the rooms. Some categories are (occasionally) completely excluded, too. That's probably what you ran into.

Totally agree and that's exactly what I'm trying to get at.

Question: I have been doing research for the past few years now and noticed that FD is always the 2nd week in November(we are scheduled to go next year) Obviously its never guarenteed but here is my question-We are scheduled to check in on a saturday, if FD starts on a Sunday, would I be able to call and change our package to sunday and still keep our saturday as a room only? That way, we could still arrive on a saturday(which isnt a park day for us anyway) and start our package on sunday. I just wanted to see if I could figure out an answer so if I needed to subtract a day-which I dont wanna do I could before our flights are booked. And since we are already scheduled for the saturday, changing it wouldnt be hard right?

Just wanted to let you know that FD is not always offered for the 2nd week of Nov. According to this rumor, it will not be offered this year even though it has been in the past. I think it all depends on when the New Jersey teacher conferences are held. Normally they occur in the first week of Nov., but this year they are happening in the 2nd week (which is why I believe that week is blacked out for 2011). Many people from NJ come to WDW that week while their kids are out of school (it's referred to as Jersey Week). You can find the dates for the NJ conferences (this year and future years) here:

My bad I meant to say 2nd FULL week of November which yes it is the second FULL week. We are going the second FULL week next year. :cool1:

...But on the other hand, if there is no discount slated to come out tomorrow at all, I'd love to see the looks on the CM's faces when their phones start blowing up at 7am. :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

And don't forget what some posts on the Disboards may look like!:mic::duck::furious:

I'm 10/22 - 10/29. So I can do a room only for 10/22 and do a package for 10/23 - 10/29? Do you think they will leave me in the same room or I'll need to switch rooms?

wondering same thing, i need to start trip on 10/1:confused3

used to be you could link 2 res to stay in same room, not sure if still applicable? anybody know for sure? I'm already doing a split trip between WDW & Universal & dread idea of moving 3 times.

fyi, i'm sure there are other DVC'ers (especially those of us who couldn't get into our resorts of choice;)) are willing to bank our points & jump @ FDP. Just might be snowball effect for those with waitlists, a good thing all around imo.:goodvibes

Here's a question:

Last Friday, my niece and her family booked a room at the BC as soon as she saw this rumor and made her check-in date 10/23 in hopes that they could then switch to FD, once this gets officially announced. Last Thursday night and Friday morning there were plenty of rooms available to book at the BC for the last week in October, as of Saturday (and still now), there are no longer any rooms available there. Does this mean, this hotel could now be excluded from FD since it is showing a solid booking?

Since the discount is supposedly happening on 8/3, can you log on to the Disney site at midnight and make the reservation then? All the posts I've seen say they are going to start calling at 6 or 7 am.

Web site usually updates around 5 to 6 AM (usually closer to 6 AM). My wholly unfounded guess is they update the resort promos along with the ADR availability. Seems to happen pretty close together.

We're booked at OKW-I had a 40%off pin. But I've crunched the numbers and it would make MUCH better sense to switch to PoP if this FD comes true and I will save our family over $2,000!!!!:yay: plus I can add an extra day on!! and we're going to bump our trip up 2 weeks:thumbsup2 which means we're that much closer to seeing Mickey!! :cool1: the dates that were in my pin also match the dates in the rumor! we shall see!!

We are going Oct 1-8th. How difficult would it be to split the reservation? Do a room only on the 1st and then a packaged deal on the 2nd? I only owe $500 on the trip.. Any ideas on if I would have to pay?

It's treated basically as two reservations and you would have to pay in full for the one night reservation at that time, since a deposit on a room only stay is one night!

We'll be staying at a Treehouse villa for the first time. I'm getting nervous. Will FD apply to a villa?

So, I already paid $6000 on the package. I would proably have to pay the Room Only reservation and then would have a credit on the package? :confused3

No, no. Basically you would have two reservations - one for the room only for one night AND one for your package with free dining (tickets, room, dining). They are separate from each other and the one night is not included in the package, it's an additional cost which you have to pay when you call to add it.
