New free dining offer yeaaah

I am confused about the comments regarding the blackout dates for the previous two years. Several people have stated that the two weeks in mid October are typically blacked out, but when I look at the historical data on Mousesavers, it shows that in 2009, free dining was offered to the gp for stays from 9/27 - 12/17 and room only discounts from 10/4 - 12/24. For 2010, it shows free dining for the gp from 8/15-12/21 and room only discounts from 10/3- 12/31. Does Mousesavers not list all the blackout dates?

I called yesterday to see if I had a pin attached to my name and I asked the CM if the week of the 16th-22nd is a blackout period and she said no. Of course, I know CM's can give you misinformation but she did not hesitate when answering.

Mousesavers lists the beginning and end date of the Disney discounts on their historical charts - they do not go into detail about the blackout dates.

This was posted by John Mage, one of the founders/presidents of Dreams Unlimited in the Disunplugged section.....(this was in response to a reference of this thread)

"While I don't think all of the info on that thread is 100% accurate I'm confident we will see a free dining promotion released next week.

I would put my money on seeing it come out on 8/3."

Wonder if it has something to do with the blackout dates. Just a guess.[/SIZE]

I don't think it has anything to do with the black out dates- I think he's just making sure that everyone knows that he can not, as a DIS travel agent, 100% confirm the discount until it becomes public on Disney's website.

They don't know this. Sometimes even the day of the release of a new offer you call, and the CM tells you not, there is not a new offer, and you need to give him the code and he responds ^Oh this is new. How do you find this:rotfl:?^
How you can imagine that they will know one week before? :goodvibes

That's happened to me every year!!!!

For those waiting for 2012 dates and room discounts, Aug 15th is still a possibility. We often see deals come out mid-August. I still think the only reason we aren't seeing anything for 2012 and for room only discounts on Aug 3rd is because 3 different codes on the same day would create chaos on the phone lines and immense confusion with the CM's. Though this is all my opinion I still think you should keep hoping...it ain't over yet:thumbsup2

AS for the Disney Visa Card advance offer - Disney didn't give them the 3 day gratutious period in 2010 for the July 6th free dining offer nor the Aug 16th FD extension.

I posted this on another thread but saw the action on this thread and wanted to repost.

I plan on coming in on Nov 12 and I have already booked. If this deal is actually going to release, would I have to book a separate reservation for the 12th if the deal starts on the 13th? Or would I just pay the difference for the one day of dining that isn't covered in the discount dates. Thanks

Just curious if others with fall breaks during the 2nd week of October are surprised that the weekend of the 8th is not blacked out?

Our schools are always out the 2nd week and we haven't been able to use FD because the weekend we would check in has been blacked out. This was also the case last year with a pin that we received. So therefore we didnt plan for this fall at all!

The Disney Dining Plan/free dining plan credits are alloted by the number of nights you are at your resort, not the number of days on your ticket.

Thank you Princess Tiffany!! One last question (i think:goodvibes)... do you know if there is any way that Disney could combine the tickets I just purchased back in June into a hotel stay with the dining package so I would not have to buy additional park days to get the free dining? hope that makes sense...

There has never been a general public free dining offer in July.

And I believe that the DV holders did get the FD offer early last year, I am positive they did for the FD offer that came out in April. I've tried to google the later dates, but can't seem to find the info. Do you have a website that confirms DV holders did not get the fd offer before the general public late last year?

No, they will not do that. You can not use previously purchased tickets as part of a package. You have to purchase the Magic Your Way package when you book and it will have to inlcude room, tickets and dining.

You will have to book a room only reservation for your first night and then book a Magic Your Way Package which includes room, tickets and dining starting the following day, or you will not be able to apply the free dining discount.

I too am very curious if the August 3rd release will be for DV cardholders, even though the OP says it is for the general public. If several CMs keep saying that it will be released on the 13th, then maybe that is the public booking date. :confused3 I'm just really puzzled that there would be no advance booking through the DV??? The OP is very certain that is not the case though so who knows. If they discontinue the tradition of DV members getting first dibs on free dining then I will probably get rid of my card. It has no other value to me other than having a really cute picture on it!

I'am trying to help out some friends who have a trip booked for Nov 19-25 at the All Stars Sports in a perferred room with AAA package that includes 7 day hoppers and they have the deluxe dinning plan for both parents and 2 boys ages 3 & 6.I know that if the free dinning does come out and if it does include Nov 19th that the value resorts get QS free, not deluxe, but they can pay the difference to deluxe (if they want to keep it,or go for regular dinning),but can anyone help me to see if my figures are correct on what their package could go down too ( I know if the dates, etc are the same )?They have 6 nights/7 days booked.Just want to see what anyone else comes up with to make sure I am correct. As with everything,it's not written in stone about the free dinning yet,but doesn't hurt to know where you stand before it starts. Thanks

There was a free dining general public offer announced for Oct-Dec dates on July 6th, 2010 and July 27th 2009.
http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html

The 2009 offer was preceded by a DV offer but July 2010 offer was not.

Here is another website for the July 6th 2010 offer:

I just looked through my Disney 2010 related emails and I do NOT have an email from Disney rewards for the FD for 2010. My email archive shows I updated our trip to FD on 7/6, I remember calling in for this, b/c I was at work and it took forever to get through.

This is sort of ridiculous though, as PrincessTiffany pointed out one of the perks of the Disney Visa is card members are supposed to get "first dibs" on special offers.

So even though my email archive is not scientific evidence, I am pretty thorough and wanted to let you guys know that, at least for last year, there was not a card member offer preceeding the GP offer for extended fall free dining.

And also, I wanted to chime in that Brandilovesdisney is right on-there was the DV offer for 2009, b/c I remember that one as well.

Why is it I can't remember to pack my lunch, but I can remember phone calls from 2 years ago? :earsboy:

By your other post I thought you meant there were free dining dates IN July, not when the offers were released, and I beleive those offers were given to DV holders first also, even if mousesavers isn't lisint it. The often give broad dates for discount and don't give specific info, for instance like DV offers and blackout dates.

Mousavers doesn't give black out dates but they do indicate whether or not Disney Visa card holders get first dibs:goodvibes

In all the times we have done Free Dining I have received the DV free dining email 1 time and that was after it had already gone out for the general public. Chase/Disney Visa is known for being terrible about letting their card holders know about promos and offers. I've always seen the DV promos and offers here on the Dis long before DV let me know.

My thoughts exactly, what's the point of having the card?

Question

If your hotel is sold out except for suites. Will they allocate any codes for regular rooms (so I could apply the code) or will I be out of luck for any codes that may come out because the hotel is sold out? TIA

Well, then I guess that would have to be the one exception, as DV holders would have gotten the free dining offer the other 10 or so times it was released 3 days before the general public, so it's still quite baffleing that Disney Visa holders would be locked out for this offer and no mention has been made of it in regard to this rumor/discount.

The only suites that are ever part of a free dining promo are the All-Star Music Family suites, none of the suites at the other resorts have ever been included, that I am aware of.

As for which resorts will have which rooms available for a FD code, that info isn't given out and no one but Disney Reservations knows that. The only time I have ever seen a resort completely blocked out of a free dining promo was in 2007, when the Wilderness Lodge did not have any rooms for booking under the promo that year - a lot of people on here were mad and a lot of people moved their resort to get that discount.

We are staying in deluxe (CR) Nov. 27 through Dec. 2. If we decide to upgrade to Deluxe dining package, how much does that usually run for 2 adults and a child for 5 nights?
