New free dining offer yeaaah

OK, why do they exclude those two weeks in October? I thought that was the down time and they would offer a good deal. I'm new to this so I'm confused.

We are planning to go either Oct 16 - 22, or 18-24. If we go with the later dates, the last two days will be in that free dining range. How does that work? We can't pick another week b/c of school.

They exclude those weeks because they don't have to offer a special then--they already have the rooms booked. If they are offering any special you can bet that they are underbooked at that time and are looking to fill beds.

However, you should be able to get free dining if it falls within your week

Wow. If this whole deal turns out to be just another rumor this place is gonna blow up. My dates are blacked out oct. 15-22 but since i'm off work wednesday i'll be watching this play put. Should be interesting.

Wow, Princess Tiffany, 2:36 am? I've noticed how many people you have helped with their questions on this thread. That is awful nice of you to take this on! I'm amazed at how many people have jumped on this offer. You should open up shop online - PTsFDhelp dot com :)

(I'm also amazed at the number of people who can't read the thread and figure it out based on your previous answers!)
I don't sleep much :-) Never have, I've been a bit of an insomniac for years.

And, actually, I do have my own Disney Trip Planning Service, so I was answering a lot of questions on my page yesterday also :-)

Would we need a PIN to book this?

I just called Disney and gave them my PIN and they said I didn't have a free dining discount. No hint that one was coming either.
A PIN Code is a name specific discount and is non-transferrable and has nothing to do with the general public offer that the OP is referencing. And as a pp stated, most CMs do not get general public codes until about 2 days before they are released. The codes usually pop up here on the Dis anywhere from the night before to the morning of.

As it's been stated already many, many times in this thread, that time frame in October has been blacked out fo the last 2 years. That is Columbus Day/Week, which is when a large number of school districts of their fall break and also there is supposed to be a large golf tournament going on then and 2 conventions that are either on or near Disney property. They simply don't need to fill those rooms during that time frame. If your check in date does not fall within those FD dates, then, yes, unfortunately, you are out of luck on this promo.

But, if you check in by October 18, then yes, you can get the free dining discount applied to your entire stay, up to 14 nights, because that check in dates lands within the free dining dates that are offered.

Hi, we are staying 3 nights at Shades of Green during those October dates listed above. So, a few questions for you experts:

1. Can we use the free Dining Plan if we're staying at Shades of Green?

2. Can we add it to our package if we have already booked our rooms?

3. Does this mean that we would have to upgrade to a Magic Your Way package to get the dining? My in-laws live in FLA, and can get the FLA resident ticket rate for themselves and the grandkids. But it seems like it's a better savings deal if we don't buy the FLA rate tickets and do the Magic Your Way package instead for the free dining.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Shades of Green is not a Disney owned resort and does not even participate in the Disney Dining Plan, let alone Free Dining. To purchase or have a free dining discount added to your reservation, you must be staying at a Disney owned property and purchase a Magic Your Way package which includes room, tickets and dining.

No pin needed, and I just got confirmation that a free dining promotion of some sort will be released next week :goodvibes!
I think that there will be some sort of free dining announcement next week, but the thing that keeps bothering me is that there has been no mention of the Disney Visa Holders. DV holders have ALWAYS gotten the free dining offers at least 3 days before the general public - probably the only decent perk of having a DV. So, I'm wondering if DV holders are going to get the discount first, on August 3, or are they going to be shut out, which I would find strange. . .

As I've been figuring this out, I just realized that if I get the FD, I will have to give up my choice seats at HDDR!!! Argh! I have booked and paid for tier 1 seating 7:15 show, but per the dining plan descriptions on here, FD only gets your tier 2 or 3 at 5 & 7:15 shows, tier 1 at 9:30 but we will be doing The Haunted Carriage Ride at that time. Ugh!

I guess unless we keep our tier 1 we paid for and book another table service later in trip using free dining. We only have 4 days, 6 people so 24 ts credits, right? And if we use 12 on CRT and 12 on HDDR since they take 2 credits each, we have no more table service. Not sure we will need more since we will be hard parking it those 4 days, but still...hate to lose my tier 1. What to do? What to do?

Has anyone gotten a CM to confirm the offer coming out? Seems like a lot of people have called to make room-only reservations or ask about split stays, etc...Just wondering if anyone has hinted that this is a "go" on Wednesday. I was hoping Mousesavers would have the rumor up by now.

They don't know this. Sometimes even the day of the release of a new offer you call, and the CM tells you not, there is not a new offer, and you need to give him the code and he responds ^Oh this is new. How do you find this:rotfl:?^
How you can imagine that they will know one week before? :goodvibes

I am confused about the comments regarding the blackout dates for the previous two years. Several people have stated that the two weeks in mid October are typically blacked out, but when I look at the historical data on Mousesavers, it shows that in 2009, free dining was offered to the gp for stays from 9/27 - 12/17 and room only discounts from 10/4 - 12/24. For 2010, it shows free dining for the gp from 8/15-12/21 and room only discounts from 10/3- 12/31. Does Mousesavers not list all the blackout dates?

I called yesterday to see if I had a pin attached to my name and I asked the CM if the week of the 16th-22nd is a blackout period and she said no. Of course, I know CM's can give you misinformation but she did not hesitate when answering.

Not really sure how this works, I talked to someone today and they told me that you can get the fd, even if you book a few days before it starts, as long as you are in that time frame, anyone know for sure. I will be arriving 4 days before it starts and staying 4 days after.:confused3

I don't k now about 09. But I distinctly remember all the blackout dates for 2010. And the PIN codes that have been going out had similar blackout dates. Don't get your hopes up on it being any different when it's officially announced.

Thanks for the info! The Shades of Green web site says that if you stay at SOG, you can make ADRs, so I didn't know if that applied to the Free DP or not. So I guess we could try to get the military discount at a Disney resort, but not sure the in-laws would go for that because they want to stay at SOG.

Thanks for your help!

But only if you split your stay and do room only the non FD days at the beginning and 4 days of FD at the end.

The other way around, it works. If you check in the last day, you get it all your days. It's all based on your check-in day. With a split stay, you'll have 2 check-in days.
