New food restrictions and I am worried

I was diagnosed last week with a VERY LOW functioning gall bladder and met with the surgeon this week. He said go to disney and we will do surgery when you get home (no time to recover before we leave). I have to stay away from gluten, fried foods, extra fats/oil in food. I called and had "gluten free" added to my ressies. I am worried about counter service meals more than the table service meals. We are also staying club level so I know their will be fresh fruit for my breakfast each morning. Any tips/advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Counter service should have the menu books available, ask the cashier to see one. As a gall-bladderless person (one of many traveling to the world) I can assure you that there is plenty of food there you can eat. Not sure why you need to be gluten-free though, as gluten is a protein, not a fat.

I wondered that very thing too, but I can tell you that since stopping gluten last week if I eat it I start hurting within the hour. So somehow that gluten is messing with my poor low functioning gall bladder. I was also told that veggies are good except for turnip greens and they can cause it to hurt also. So I don't know if my doctor just pulled those items from a hat or if their is some research to back it up, but I sure don't want an attack while I am at disney so I will avoid them. Then when we get back home its bye bye gall bladder:)

Oh I totally sympathize with you. I had major gallbladder problems about 6 months ago and had to have my gallbladder removed about 3 weeks after ending up in the ER. Before that I was at Disney a lot and had to avoid any fatty food. I am GF/DF and have Crohn's disease on top of the gallbladder problem. I was able to do a lot of egg whites for breakfast and low fat (turkey bacon) options. I didn't do quite as many QS, but everywhere I went, they were very accommodating. I did a lot of plain grilled chicken sandwiches on GF/DF buns (Udi's). Cosmic Rays was a great option for that.

It's definitely very doable, especially if you tell them about the gallbladder problems!

Hope that helps! Best of luck with the gallbladder. I'm so glad to be free of it now!!
