New food offering at AK- Picnic in the Park

It is a definate for us this year! I think it would be fun for the kids to do something different like this! I hope someone posts another pic of the bag too, it looks kinda neat!

I'd like to know what's to stop other guests not buying the picnic from using the specified tables? I would hate to have to carry that lunch around looking for a place to sit. :confused3

Nothing stops them from taking a picnic table. You have to wander around looking for a place to sit just like before. I couldn't find an empty picnic table when I did it. I did find a regular table and chairs.

Why do you think you can not use tables in AK if you bought the picnic lunch? Of course you are going to need a place to sit down! I'm sure Disney knows that.

No I mean people who did not buy the lunch may end up using all the tables for a rest or something...leaving the people who did buy the lunch without a table. From the article I read these are new tables specifically for people who bought the lunch. I am curious as to if there will be trouble accessing these tables.

There is nothing at the picnic tables to indicate they aren't for everyone. So it is first come first served.

Ahhh, I getcha! Yes, that's possible but I think most people would quickly "get it" when people around them are eating that it is a designated picnic spot....DW may even have signs around saying that. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If the tables are full, just stand & stare!! Works for me! :rotfl:

Thanks for sharing your experience with us:)

Lines looked a little long, did it move quickly (the ordering and the pickup)

The picnic areas are not actually designated for use only for the Picnic in the Park. The information brochure shows the locations of the picnic areas but does not state they are only to be used for Picnic in the Park. So it is possible you could be walking around looking for a free table just like any other quick service meal.

The article stated that Picnic in the Park (can we call it PITP?) qualifies as a quick service meal on the dining plan. I would imagine that it's actually three meals since it's designed as service for three? Seems like it caters to a pretty specific group size. I'll be going with my wife and DD2, and we'll be on the QDP, so I don't think I'd want to use it for three meals since the 2-year old isn't on the dining plan.

The bag looks like a real keeper, though, and the chicken is making me hungry.
