New Flexibility Announcement for DCL

That's exactly what I was thinking!
Actually if DCL does cancel the current formula (100% refund or 125% FCC still applies, it just gives people who've booked like ourselves (WBPC Feb 2021) less worry and pressure about going PIF and then regretting it later if the situation doesn't change and we might want to cancel out of fear the Covid-19 problem isn't going away. I for one am happy to accept this, at least we won't be penalized if we decide to change out reservation with out DCL going to the point of cancelling.

I don't feel like pushing out the time to switch cruise dates would be mutually exclusive with giving people extra credit if DCL cancels the cruise on their end. They're still putting out customers who WANT to cruise by cancelling on them. Time will tell though..!

I like this, gives me options and I suspect that I will know ahead of time if cruising in January is a good or bad idea. At least it gives me some lead time

I just got the email for my November cruise but I don't think this will be a great option for us. Once we PIF in late August, we would only have the option to change our date, not get a refund. I just don't think I want to be out that much money when it's so unknown when we can actually cruise again. If they offered an extension on our PIF date until 15 days before sailing, then - wow - I'd be all over that LOL!

I wonder if this means no more bonus for cancelled cruises? Our is Oct 12 and I’m just hanging on to get the bonus. Odds were they wouldn’t cancel before I would incur cancellation penalties and I don’t think we’d want to go regardless. The ability to change dates later is great, but I’m only willing to leave my money tied up if there’s a bonus offered. I worry this means that’s over.
I suspect this is, because people have parlayed a inside cruise from April into a deluxe balcony.
I too was hoping for 125 but I’m a January sail date.
but it looks like that ship sailed...
i’ll see myself out.

There’s no way I let them keep my money if they aren’t giving some kind of incentive to wait and see. I’m willing to use the extension and rebook further into the future, but no discount means I cancel and wait until this all dies down before booking another cruise. They aren’t going to hold thousands of dollars for a couple of years for free. Your move, Disney.

UPDATE: Yes I can do this and will keep my OBB benefits. The paid in full date will not change and is based off the first reservation.

So I have an OBB that expires the middle of March 2020. Spring Break 2021 timeframe was unknown at time of OBB and now know that Spring Break 2021 is after our OBB expires. I have asked my Dreams agent if I can book a cruise for early March 2020, cancel it prior to 15 days before sailing, move it into April 2020 (after our original OBB expiration) and still keep the OBB benefits.

I hope they extend this through April 2021, which is when we sail...the only reason I'm not cancelling now is that it's concierge...

I feel like they will still give out 125% for cruises that they cancel. In addition to giving people confidence in booking, this may be a way of helping to minimize those 25% bonuses.

They have to know people are playing chicken with the FCC, deposits and PIF dates. With this change, if people move their sail date out, the fare only gets moved at 100%. That leaves fewer behind to collect 125% credits if DLC is forced to cancel. They still keep the booking money and don't have to sweeten the pot to keep it.

Interesting thought. I just PIF our November cruise to roll the dice and see if we don't sail, we could snag the 25%. Time will tell.
If dcl cancels that would a different thing in my opinion. This is the customer electing a change on a cruise that is still sailing

It is their way of getting people to PIF so they can hold the money. It does not seem that DCL is optimistic about cruises returning before this ends.

DW just cancelled 1 cruise(another line) the day before PIF and OF COURSE an extension was announce (FCC became available) a few days later but we really didn't get bothered since we like our $$$ to be available and not being used by others.

You are right. My daughter and I literally just had this conversation. lol In the end, we are REALLY hoping we just sail, so there is no drama with trying to get everyone's schedules together and set another cruise date!

Doesnt surprise me, in fact I’d only be surprised if that policy didn’t get extended. Best way to get people back in the water is by being more flexible so if something happens they can adapt accordingly

Oh! I hadn’t thought of that but you’re right, it would help a lot with people playing cruise roulette hoping for a payout.
