New Fireworks at DLR

For those that might enjoy this, Disneyland did a preview last night of their Summer Fantasmic! fireworks show called "Magical!" I love how everything seems to be named the same and with lots of exclamation marks. :)

It's a nice change from Remember...Dreams Comes True fireworks which has been running for years it seems. RDCT is hard to live up to, but this one is pretty good.

It's based upon early Disney classic animated movies. The two best scenes is when the song Baby Mine is sung and Dumbo actually flies over the castle. Funny....he can fly backwards at times. :rotfl:

Of course, Tinkerbells as always flies over the castle at some point, but this time she does it twice.

Another cute scene is when Flora and Meriwether (?) fight over whether to make the dress blue or pink.

Check it out here
(it's an HD vid made by someone at the park that night)

First of all :worship: for this find!

Secondly....I'm not even two minutes into it and found the first bit of recycled material! :rotfl2:

When Tink first comes out, that music is from a very short lived show at EPCOT, the name escapes me right now but I will find it later!

Well, leave it to Disney to cut corners where they can. Especially during these troubling economic times. :rotfl:

I guess they changed the show also for the summer due to how much the old show RDCT caused them to shut down Fantasyland and the walking area all the way over to the Matterhorn. This caused big trouble in traffic flow and bottlenecks. This show is completely shot off from a backlot, it's shorter in length, etc.

I loved Dumbo though. It's actually a man inside the puppet controlling th ears, trunk and legs. Pretty cool.

I'm just ticked that the show is for summer only. It ends the end of August, two weeks before we show up in September. Maybe I should call Disney. They've also updated Electric Light Parade with LED lights and effects, new Tinkerbell main float, bringing back about 4-5 old floats and updated the 1970's music some. I've been scouring youtube for a preview of this too, but no luck so far.

They've even udpated Pixie Hollow with a light and water show at night while you wait for 10 hours (:rolleyes1) to see Tink and her friends.

Any news on the new dragon for Fantasmic?

Any news on the new dragon for Fantasmic?

From all the sites I've been reading (read about 15 a day ), there hasn't been a preview of it yet for anyone to see. They've been struggling with an animatronic 40 foot fire breathing dragon. Go figure. I saw photo's of the body being flown in by helicopter. The thing is huge! They still claim it will be ready on June 12 opening.

They've also redone the water screens and they're now in HD. We saw the HD screens last December and it's like watching it on a TV, it's so clear. They're also adding Flotsam and Jetsam on jetski's that slither around the river. I hear the two front rows of people are going to be soaked from the waves the jetski's create. I think there's a new animated croc that follows the pirates ship and a bunch of other updates.

Another recycled moment from the Pirate and Princess party at WDW! ;)

Pink Pink Pink...

No Blue Blue Blue!

Hoping to be able to report next Friday morning about the new Fantasmic! show as we received an invite - along with a whole slew of others - to enjoy "a special event" at DLR next Thursday evening......

Ah I'm so jealous. I'm anxious to hear your report.

Luckily, the changes to Fantasmic, Pixie Hollow and MSEP are permanent and will not change once summer is over. The only thing we'll miss is the new fireworks, but who knows. They've been known to extend things.

I saw this wednesday night, I was on the Mark Twain so I couldn't really hear the music but I did see Dumbo which was funny. I actually only saw RDCT once...and that was after they got rid of the Frontierland part, but this one seemed just as good.

I've been reading on some stuff about this on "other" forums, and many people are bashing the new fireworks production, comparing it to RDCT, saying it's not as good, not as long, not as many fireworks or pyro's, not as emotional, song not as good, blah blah fricken blah.

Yeah, it's not the same as RDCT.

It's why it's called "Magical" instead. :rotfl:

Well change is always good...even if the the theme was merely changed from Dreams to Magic. But Dumbo made it all worth it for me =)

Some people on the forums I read really hate change of any kind. Except for DCA that is. :) They want the same parade and the same fireworks show forever. They'll get their way. RDCT comes back in September and once Celebrate! street party is done, the old parade will be back too.

BLEH! Disneyland was built on change. Anyone who likes thunder mountain or splash mountian needs to remember that those rides openedfrom one being removed for its existence. ANd many rides in Disneyland were once something else...

While I agree change is great, this new show just does not compare to the last show. I've watched it three times now, and while I love the Dumbo flying part, nothing compares to "Good evening this is Julie Andrews", the Walt opening day speech, and the music from the rides.....

Well, Thursday fell apart for us. I got stuck working late - moving offices - and Marc has an orientation that will go longer than his normal day so the media event at DLR isn't happening for us. We also heard that the new dragon in Fantasmic! won't be operational; hydraulics need some repair for the head piece. Here's hoping it'll be fixed by 4th of July weekend!

That's too bad. Well hopefully everything will be working by then and they'll have all the kinks worked out. Few nights ago, Tink couldnt' make it across the sky, so they had to hold off on Dumbo since he would have ran into her. Although that would have been kind of funny.

I heard that the dragon's neck completely broke during testing. Doesn't look good for the media event.
