New fireworks and... snow!

Yes, Main Street can be crazy and overcrowded. We didn't plan on being there for the snow but just happened upon last year, which was nice, but it was very crowded. So if we can get snow in another part of DL without having to be caught in that crunch, it may be worth it!

If it is a busy night IASW can get kinda busy too. All those pretty lights just suck you over and the fireworks there are neat behind it! Then it snows

I'll put it this way. I rarely cry. There have been times where I didn't cry that had people worried about me because I wasn't crying, and yet I have shed a tear in Disneyland during Believe in Holiday Magic.

Kinda busy is an understatement! That IASWH line transforms into an entirely different kind of line at night when the lights are on. I have always said, those lights attract people from every corner of the park - and probably outside the park too - like moths to a flame, and suddenly, the line that you were just able to walk through in five minutes earlier in the day has become 50 minutes and is winding around into ToonTown!!!! We got on IASW three times on different days last year in December - twice on two days and once at night. On both daytime rides, it was as if nobody knew IASW had a holiday overlay, and we just waltzed right on through the queue to the ride with no wait. The daytime exterior of the ride is cute, but not jaw-dropping. When we went back to ride it the third time - this time, at night - I could not believe how many people were in line. It's those lights! Those beautiful, gorgeous, stunning holiday lights that entrance us all, also happen to lure in every single person in the park!!!

So I always say - RIDE IASWH during the daytime. LOOK at it and admire its breathtaking magic at night!!!

You can't blame them for flocking there though because it truly is amazing to see! I remember seeing it from the monorail and everyone got quiet and just stared at the glimpses of it. It is breathtaking for sure! They really do a nice job on it!

I most certainly cannot blame anyone for flocking to IASWH because I am flocking right along with them!!! It is irresistible! The lights draw you in with almost magnetic force! Last year, we happened to be standing next to IASWH when dusk hit and the colored lights first came on (though we didn't get in the massive line to ride it until a while later) and people started applauding and you could hear a collective "Ooooohhh..." throughout the crowd. It was funny. It is like we all become so childlike and filled with awe and wonder when there is a breathtaking scene before us. I could look at everyone's faces (with mouths agape) and guess that we were all thinking the same thing, "Oooooohhh...look at all the pretty lights...." It was only later when we came back to it to get in line that I saw the super long line that I said, "Whoa - where did all these people come from? They must have emptied out all the shops, restaurants, hotels, bathrooms and rides in both parks to come and get in this line!"

And to think that DLR was entertaining the idea of discontinuing the IASWH a while back! They had better not discontinue it! That is a true highlight of the holiday season, and they had better do that overlay every year!

I agree. If they stopped doing it I would be incredibly sad. It adds so much to the park!!

uh did anyone see the line during the day yesterday??? it was a wall of people. . . . i'm glad we rode it first thing sat morning.. . crazy busy the rest of the time we were there and sunday seemed to be the worst!!!

Thanks, Perlster, for posting the links to more of the work by MintCrocodile! I watched the two videos. Either the tree is not as bright this year or it just doesn't photograph well, because it didn't look as though it stands out as much as it usually does. I think a PP said on this thread or another that the tree wasn't as great this year. That may be true. The Castle, however, never disappoints! Love those sparkly icicles!!!
