New Finding Nemo musical at AK??

i seem to be in the minority here, but i am looking forward to this. i think it sounds like a great idea and a good fit for AK. Now all they need is a dragon/mythical creature type attraction to match up with the ones in thier logo and they will be nicely rounded out. (ok - so they could use one more sit down place to eat too.)

They are getting one in a couple of years, in Asia with Asian food. It was just announced recently, it is going to be run by the same company that runs Rainforest Cafe. It is going to replace a counter service resturant that is there now, I think the chicken place but not sure.

I just dont get the "musical" part..... I cant think of one song from finding nemo???

That's an easy one.

It was all part of the announcement made on Friday about the new Nemo attraction.

Disney commissioned the writers of the Broadway Tony Award-winning "Avenue Q" to write ALL NEW songs for the Finding Nemo Musical.

It might sound strange that they would hire writers that created such a "non-Disney-type" Broadway Musical like "Avenue Q",

but remember that Alan Menkin and Howard Ashman where fresh from writing the musical version of "Little Shop of Horrors"
(also a musical stage-show based on a NON-musical film)
when they were tapped to work on then-unknown projects of "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast".
That worked out pretty well. :thumbsup2

I'm not all that crazy about the Finding Nemo thing at AK either to be honest. However, I am sure (fingers crossed) Disney knows what they are doing! They haven't done much wrong at AK!

I've heard the demo cd (a friend sings on it) and it is very catchy- in fact my 2 year old DD requests it every time we are in the car. The storyline closely follows the movie and uses many of the lines from the movie in the songs. And, even though Ave Q is written for adults- it was created by 2 guys who grew up with sesame street and was written for a mature audience(also-they never thought it would go much further than an off-Broadway run and be sort of a cult hit-the success of the show took a lot of people by surprise!) so using Bobby (and his wife Kristin) to do this show is not really a stretch. They both have varied and extensive credits that are not all like Ave Q. I'm excited- we might try to go down for the opening! Maybe it will actually get us into AK-not our favorite park!

I think a Nemo show will be great my nephew to be is 5 and he loves Nemo! He will love it. Maybe Nemo is a hint of what is to come at Disney, I would love to see them put in a sea life aspect to AK- I love all of that and they are animals too.

One thing they could do is build up a "Seas" section around Nemo. Put in a coral reef exhibit, a shark exhibit, some seals, and loch ness monster ride and whamo - new land. Heck you could even throw in Ariel.

I wouldn't put it past them. Animal kingdom still has several acres to expand on. A lot of empty land back on the back lot. especialy back behind the kali river rapids everst area.

Here's where it seems weird. Fish go in Aquariums and Animals in zoos. That's the public perception. You don't see fish in zoos all that much...at least not that I can remember. No matter how many "Nahtazu" ads they run, it still makes people expect a zoo feel. Nemo, therefore, seems out of place. Here's my idea, find a place relatively nearby to put a walk-through aquarium attraction of exotic fish, and "bam"...it all works!

Since when are fish not considered animals? :confused3

Finding Nemo isn't only about fish. The sea turtles are reptiles. Reptiles are present in the AK. The Blue Whale is a mammal. Obviously mammals are in the AK. There are plenty of avarian species in the movie as well. Flights of Wonder is in the AK.

It is true that fish are in aquariums, but I have been to many a zoo that has an aquarium in it.
