The new passporter has this info.... am I missing something? is this info already posted here...? If not, wouldn't this be released to owners as well as someone who writes travel books?

I thought I heard something about them adding a water play area by the Paddock pool. If anyone has any further information, that would be great.

Try a search. It was a fairly large thread here several months ago but I don't recall seeing much buzz about it since we first heard about it.

This was announced during the annual member's meeting on December 9, 2009. Webmaster Doc did a large write up on it and I think DVC Mike posted a picture of the sketch presented.

That looks like a great addition to SSR! I am excited! We loved the resort before but this will really make it special!

I am glad you posted this! I wasn't aware that this was underway. I followed the links, but didn't see where on the resort property that they are constructing this pool??? Can someone provide that info?

I believe this will replace the Paddock pool area and would be closest to the (usually less recommended here ) Paddock and Carousel sections.

New feature pool in the works
Work is scheduled to begin this spring on a new feature pool in the Paddock area of Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, building on the resort's turn-of-the-20th-century, upstate New York theme.
Plans call for the new pool, scheduled for completion in mid-2011, to replace the Paddock area's 1,100-square-foot quiet pool with a 3,300-square-foot zero-depth-entry pool, a 146-foot water slide, a 1,600-square-foot wet-play area, an expanded pool deck spanning more than 11,000 square feet and, for hungry swimmers and sunbathers who'd rather not make the trip across the lake to Artist's Palette, an on-site, quick-service-dining location.
Watch Disney Files Magazine and DVCMember.com for updates as new details become available.

There was an artist rendering of the pool as well.

It sounds pretty cool. I think SSR is a large enough resort to support a second feature pool.

I have to say that having stayed in Carousal that was my first thought :rotfl:

Actually I quite like the Paddocks... it's quiet and has lovely lake views :goodvibes But the pool looks awesome and a quick service would definitely be a welcome addition :thumbsup2

Easily. Especially since they both added units to the "traditional" SSR and added the THV from the original plan - which was likely what the pool was scoped for. One of the biggest drawbacks to SSR as a resort is the distance from the "far" units to the feature pool and central resort area (Artist's Point, Checkin)

You really don't need checkin once you are in, and bell services will get your luggage over. But a quick service dining spot and a feature pool that don't take a five minute (or longer) walk to will be very welcome.

If DVC continues to improve SSR like they have with the addition of THV and this pool, I may eventually get over the strong desire I have had to sell my SSR points. Now if only the would add equestrian activities to the resort I might finally be satisfied.

Well this it great SSR news.

But I interrupt this program!

How lovely sajetto - you have a little one now. Congratulations to you both. :goodvibes

Aw, thanks! She is a true blessing :lovestruc

I'm sure the wee one will get to enjoy some of these SSR changes some day in the future. We might even try to snag a THV for the holidays next year. I'm sure that would take some work, such as "walking" a reservation. I sure wish they had stuck to the old booking policies.

Wow, I was a SSR hater after being "stuck" out in Carousel. This might just bring me back! That slide looks fantastic and burgers out there, I'm sold, very nice Disney, you really listened to the members:thumbsup2!
