I still don't know what to make of NextGen, the technology is very cool but the whole 'scheduling' of ride times doesn't sit well with me, even ADR's feel to restrictive to me sometimes.

We used it last week, I didn't like the scheduling part, we only go in low season so it's not necessary tbh. I can see why some would love it, but we don't even plan park days never mind rides.

planning rides in advance? will this also be 180 days in advance! what happened with go with the flow!

Agree with these. We're not one of the militant planners and while I do usually take a Busy Day Guide with me, we usually pick which park to visit the night before rather than in advance. Also agree with Ben re: ADRs and Gemma re: low season :thumbsup2

The thought of planning two weeks of fast passes on top of everything else makes my brain hurt :scared1:

And yet I'd happily give the TSM bundle a miss:laughing:

We rarely use the current system so can't see us using it but we will see.
Maybe of use to first time visitors that are desperate to do everything, we just go with the flow, ride anything with a line under 20 mins or single rider lines, longer than 20 mins it will keep for another visit.

I am not a big planner and hate tobe restricted to a park because of an ADR so pre booking a fastpass is a no go for me.

We are another go with the flow type! Sometimes we don't even decide what park we are going to until we are on our way towards WDW so there's no way we would be able to plan our ride schedule! :rolleyes2

I can't imagine trying to schedule rides on top of everything else - I think it's hard enough to decide which park and where to eat! That said, I would like to pre-book TSM to avoid the mad dash at the start of the day. With only a couple of exceptions (TSM, Soarin' come to mind) we've always fared pretty well with the current system. I'd also hate to think of the carnage if the systems failed in the middle of a busy period :rotfl:

this sounds like a nightmare to me !! i am well unorganised !! what if the kids decide they dont want to ride , i will also feel im clock watching all day and will take away some of teh enjoyment , i dont mind queing its adds to the excitement and anticipation

i can definitely see using it for TSM - the current system of racing there at rope drop is insane!!!

since i set a schedule in advance because of ADRs, i would be happy to schedule my rides as well.
then everything around that would be go with the flow.

Depending on time of year & times of day Disney rides can easily be 1-2 hours each, the fastpass system can be well worth using, quiet times of year then many rides can be walk on, busy times can be crazy, I once saw a 6 hour line at Soarin on New Years Eve.

yes i remember been there over 4th july and was manic we queued ages for the testtrack at epcot and ended u giving up after about 3 hour ,i still dont like the idea of booking rides in adavnce !

It's not a replacement for anything, it's an additional option. If you feel it's more of a curse than a blessing for you then you can just carry on touring the parks in your normal way, you don't have to use it :)

Like others I can't see myself using this often unless it's very flexible (ie there is the possibility to book times at short notice like same day ADR's), however it would be rather short sighted of me to not see the benefits of this system just because I won't be using it much.

I normally travel off peak, I normally only ride walk ons, I am not overly fussed if I miss riding an attraction at a particular time because I've ridden it a bunch of times before and I know I'll be back on a future trip to ride it again.

However lets change the scenario a little bit...I'm taking family/friends with me next time, it's their once in a lifetime trip, it's unlikely they'll come back in future, I want them to see all the really cool attractions that I love...oh, and it's Christmas Day. I don't see how having the chance to pre-book 4 Fastpass attractions in advance, during peak times when you know full well what park you'll be at - is anything but a very, very good thing.

This is not going to make much of a difference to me personally but there are going to be plenty of people who can use it and more options is always a good thing imo.

Very true! The top of your quote is definitely us but if going with a big group and first timers, yes I could see it might be a benefit! Hadn't even thought of it that way to be honest

True, it's a good system for some, probably not aimed at most of 'us' on here who visit multiple times. I do hope it's a success though, otherwise that's 2 billion dollars down the pan! Imagine what else they could have done with 2 billion dollars!

you have to remember that most americans visit once in a lifetime and for only 4 or 5 days (not 2 or 3 weeks like we do).
this will improve their experience significantly!!
