New Fantasy Land Opening - who is going? Update!

I have a question guys .... do we think it's going to be crazy insanely busy at MK on Dec. 6th???? :rotfl: I was talking to a friend today who is going to WDW for the first time in 20 years with his 2 kids who have never been and they have MVMCP tickets for Dec. 6th. I told him it's going to be mobbed with the opening and he said they plan on getting there right at 4pm and they only sell 20,000 tickets for the party, so they should be good. :lmao: I'm trying to talk him into changing the date, but he seemed unconvinced of my "mobbed" prediction.

Being that I'll be living in town and have an annual pass... I'll be there at some point. Time depends on a job of course. That whole having to work is really a minor inconvenience.

Maybe I'm naive, and I'm pretty sure I'm alone on an island here... But I don't think it will be insane. Busy? Of course. Will the mermaid line be ridiculous? Absolutely. But I don't think it will be mobbed.

Look at the way they've handled the opening. Storybook Circus is already open. Mine Train isn't opening for over another year. The Princess meet and greet won't be open until a few months after this "grand opening".

Look at what's opening... A restaurant, a Belle meet and greet, some shops, and an omnimover attraction that's already in DCA. I simply don't see all of that bringing in a crazy increase of traffic. (unless they market it to, in which case I imagine they'll have a lot of upset people on their hands)

You'll have the normal December crowd levels + the superfans. Which will make it seem more like a summer day than a December day... But I don't think it will be closing for capacity levels either.

A certain section of Islands of Adventure has 1 new ride, 2 repainted rides, some shops, and a restaurant......I remember that opening crowd being insane! I'm just sayin'

I arrive on the 6th!!! We're heading over to MK..just because. Yes, it will be mobbed and crazy. Figure it's a party night in addition to the official opening of the new FantasyLany. A lot of people, us included, want to be able to say we were there the day it officially opened. Will we 'do' anything? Probably not. Just be there for a short time, and then head to a different park!!!!!

Since the Be Our Guest restaurant opens Nov. 19 and the passholder previews are in November - the new Fantasyland will already have been open for several weeks before its "grand" opening on Dec. 6.

Universal also marketed that as a 'theme park within a theme park'. I don't anticipate Disney doing anything nearly as idiotic.

Fantasyland has been marketed as the largest expansion of the Magic Kingdom.

Which it is. But they've also pointed out that Storybook Circus is already open and mine train won't be open until 2014.

Maybe I simply haven't seen the marketing outside of the Disney blog and such, but I think they are hyping it the proper amount.

So, it seems we have a new event once this place opens ---

Drink around the MK :drinking:

OK, so it won't be a very long event, but we can be among the first to complete it.

funny!!

i'll be in detroit until Nov 27th, so i guess i could actually come back down to WDW in november - will fantasyland be open before the grand opening?
it would be nice to see it before i head home...

will fantasyland be open before the grand opening?

Its fairly widely expected that there will be a soft opening period. I'd go as late in November as you can though to maximize your chances.

Has anyone heard about what time the ceremony will take place? I assume it will be announced closer to the date but just wondering if any rumors have slipped out.
