New Fall Discounts released today...

Will u automatically get the discount if u call on a already booked package or no?

Nope. There are a limited number of rooms available and you are not guaranteed to get a discount, even if you are already booked. I am booked at POR in a royal room river view Nov 4-7. When I called this morning, there was nothing available during my dates.

thank you for posting about the discounts. i was able to book pop this morning! it's so nice when you get to book an extra little trip like this. we have ap's so it's just the room and this makes it much more doable so thanks again for the heads up!

I have a question concerning this. So if you already have a reservation during these dates available - but there is no available rooms for this during when you are going online - do you still get the discount or no if you contact them via the phone?
No you will not get a discount even is you call if they show that there is no room available for your room category. But, you could get the discount on a different room category at the same resort i.e. water view etc. or a discount at a different resort

this whole thing is so frustrating. i was advised to book the reservation awhile ago, and when i asked if a promotion were to come out it could be applied. I don't get this availability problem. What i imagine, is disney makes the promotion for certain dates, then shouldn't they pool out like say 300 offers, then whomever gets it, already booked and applies, makes a new reservation, whichever category, until it is at 0?. I called this morning 1 hour into the fall promotion and Yacht has nothing at all. It is not an excluded resort, it just has nothing, no availability.. so what was the point in being advised to book the reservations ahead of time? Just them hoping you don't cancel and then they get you to pay full price.

Disney will give discounts to fill rooms. If they are booked up, they won't need to offer as many room discounts. That's probably why there's less and less availability it seems for promos. People have already booked up, so why would Disney need to release more discounted rooms? Of course they would tell you to book now, cause then they've got you committed.

Keep checking back though - I know when fd was announced people complained that it was booked up, then more availability opened up later on.

Nope. Two issues. First, discounts are offered to garner new business - not to save money or provide better value for existing customers. Second, booking a room at rack rate in hopes of getting a discount later reduces or eliminates the need for a hotel to offer discounted rooms...and if they do, it's going to be with the goal of attracting new customers.

Actually I would advise not to book ahead in hopes of a future discounts, unless you are going regardless and not expecting anything. All booking ahead does is hurt your chances of a discount, room only or free dining. They have these promotions to fill rooms- if so many people are booking so far in advance, then Disney doesn't think they need to discount many rooms since they are already filled. Discounts are getting worse each year because of this. I don't expect anything anymore, so I am not disappointed in the end. It would have been great to get a discount today but I could not. My TA was online as soon as the discounts went live and nothing was available already. Gone are the days of low crowds in the Fall. She is going to keep checking just in case they release more.. it happened with free dining so you never know.

It is also very hard for people to wait and book their trips right when the discounts come out since we never really know when they will get released and dining has to be done 180 days in advance.. So how can most people not book ahead really? The discounts keep getting worse each year, I wouldn't be surprised if they went away in the future.

I mean the only reason why I did the whole "book now and hope to be able to apply a discount later" thing is because I'm going in April for my honeymoon. I'd rather have something I like booked now so we know we have something. I wouldn't want to leave our honeymoon stay up to chance that availability will be there when the discount comes out.

I understand why you wanted to book early. As long as you realize there is no guarantee you will get a discount, there should be no issues. Look forward to your honeymoon (congrats by the way) and think of any discount as a bonus.

For me, I'm pretty disappointed today. I did not book in advance because I won't pay rack rate for a deluxe room and I really want to stay deluxe. I'm bummed that nothing is available for my dates. I'm not mad at Disney though. I don't expect them to discount if the resort is full. I just wish it WASN'T full.

i dont want to spend 7K on a trip that we would normally spend 2-3K on, so i thought if 30% off would make it affordable then we could splurge since a monorail or epcot resort would be easier with a baby. the 5K i was willing to spend on deluxes was only if i could get the 30%, which was actually only 25% and then seeing the numbers for what was available with the discount was not even close to 25%! Perhaps they think people can't do math. it looked like a safe bet, seeing the history of the discounts, and i've been waiting and checking. I did get the promo for the first half of the week but not for the second, so we'll be at value level for the other half. DD wants Ariel's room, so she will be the happiest there anyway. it would have been nice to stay somewhere new, at the Yacht Club and go to some new restaurants, like Beaches n Cream and Cape May.. now i'm going to be deleting a bunch of adrs.

I woke up this morning and saw this deal.

I had Dec 5th-13th booked at Wilderness Lodge in a standard view room, so I decided to call in and see if the room I had applied towards this discount.

While the standard view did not, the woods view and courtyard did. Not only that, but the total price was almost $200 cheaper than our current reservation.

Saving money and not having to stare at a parking lot during our trip is pretty awesome in my book =)
Welcome fellow WL fan! You may want to check the WL thread and DVC construction link re: VWL construction beginning October 26th. Many have been offered resort moves or discounts due to the extensive construction proposed and amenities that will be closed.

Orbitz has a lot of rooms 25% off right now, and you can stack a "48hrsale" promo code for an additional 15% off. I got an amazing deal on CR bay lake view. You can purchase through ebates for another 1.6% cash back.

This discount was dismal. We have had a room booked at BC since April for a stay from Nov. 5-11. When the military discount was extended a few weeks ago we checked day of release and there was no availability at any deluxe for out dates and now are only choice was to move to WL with a queen and a bunk bed to save about $500....we decided to stay with out current reservation. Apparently this is going to be a VERY busy weekend with the end of Jersey Week and the 1/2 Marathon Weekend.....a little disappointing - we go this same weekend every year and have never not gotten a discount.

Following this too- I just switched from WL to BC on Dec 6-11 because of construction and was sad that this current promo only discounts us $400. We were hoping for a military discount but those booked up before I (and our travel agent) knew they were released. Trying to decide whether to switch to YC for a little more savings?

We aren't going this time frame, but hopefully the discounts are more back to normal next year. We were hoping to stay a few days at CR next May with (hopefully) a 30% discount. I see some dates they only have 10%. Also planning a few days at CBR, the 15/20 is what we were hoping for there.

We booked a bit ago at CSR with the idea that if a discount was released for our dates we would be flexible. We opted to move to POR for a savings of $250 for our stay (hoped for more). We were fine either way and are just happy to be returning to disney!!

This is definitely by far the weakest fall discount offer (both in terms of amount and resort availability) that I've seen in years.

Disney must be filling more rooms due to the improving economy.

Puts us in a bit of a dilemma for future trips. We like to do split stays at deluxe resorts, where we're dead set on staying at a specific combination of resorts. But we've always counted on room discounts to justify the cost. Now, I'm starting to come to grips with having to adjust my expectations that there may be no room discounts going forward (or at least that I can't count on them being available at a specific combination of resorts). May have to start thinking more seriously about going back to the moderate resorts.

I think they purposely made it less attractive to switch from Free Dining too, by having slightly less discounts. I was on the fence with a 30% but now that it's 25%, there's no way I'm switching.

Thank you for posting this. When I saw this I checked orbitz and got an awesome deal on Beach club.
