Starting February 3rd Disney parks and resorts male Cast Members will be allowed facial hair, including neatly trimmed beards and go-t's!

Interesting quandary: If one has been working for Disney and adhering to the code, how does one now grow a beard? There's no way to from clean-shaven to a neatly grown beard overnight. You pretty much have to look like a slob for a little while as it comes in.

I guess you could take a beard-cation and grow one...

Anyway, I think it's a reasonable change. Never understood the no-facial-hair policy to begin with -- you can look like a slob with or without a beard or mustache... and you can look neat and presentable with or without a beard or mustache.

See it was one of Walt's standards, facial hair... but right now were neglecting the horrible facial hairs such as goatees, fu manchus, handlebar mustaches, comb over beards, etc.

Also, with this new policy Main Street just got alot creepier...

Walt's standards included him having a moustache and 15 ashtrays on his desk.

Just sayin.....:confused3

I have seen the grooming standards for CMs, looking it up for son if he did the CP, and mustaches have always been allowed.

The "growing in" issue is covered and yes it has to be fully "grown in" so either you have when you start with it or grow it during a vacation.

I believe the mustaches were banned for most of the history of the parks, and finally allowed in relatively recent times. I want to say about 10 years ago.

Yea I think I shouldn't have added "always" But I'm thinking maybe the 80's. :confused3

I'm not seeing where people (here and in other places I've seen this discussed) are equating facial hair with "dirty, unkempt, the park is going down the tubes!" So it's not the way Walt did it. Walt himself did not fit his own dress code.

Sidenote, but as part of this change, they also started a "casual friday" policy in non-guest facing areas". Of course, there are still standards that go with that as well. And no, you cannot show tatoos or wear ripped jeans or shorts

1) I can see the "run" on facial Rogaine now.
2) I thought mustaches were enough.
3) Oh well, times change.
