I'm not a big fan of losing the hour in the morning, but I'm kind of liking the three extra hours in the park four nights that you are there. What is the general feeling of the boards about this test program, and do you think it'll become a fixture by the time July roles along?

First of all--I like your user id

The extra magic hours used to be called e-ride nights and the park was open later for guests and they could ride "the big rides".

Personally--I hope it takes off. We are going in June--I don't know if we would take advantage of it, since the parks are open until 9 or 10 already, but I'm thinking it might be a nice way to spread out attendance at the parks during the day--making a morning crowd and a night crowd.

Dunno--we'll see

I really hope they have them in June.

So EMH in the morning will go away if they do the extra hours at night? Bummer! I'm an early riser and was looking forward to doing EMH then back to hotel for swim.

I don't think they would do away with the EMH for the mornings-they are too much a part of the incentives for staying onsite--they even mention them on their Disney Resort websites.

The test schedule includes both extended evenings and EMH some mornings. Who knows what will happen after the test period - it's completely up in the air at this point. They could go back to just EMH hours, they could switch to the schedule used during the test period, or they could decide to test a whole new set-up. I'm anxious to see what happens since we're going in June, but I'm trying  to be patient!

Not entirely true. According to reports that I've read, E-Ride Nights are still be on the horizon. The news report at allearsnet.com regarding the EMH test states that "This program does not replace E-Ride nights, which are expected to begin again during the summer."

Under the E-Ride Night program, guests are required to pay for the additional admission hours ($12 for three hours in the park), but attendance was limited to about 5000 guests. Theoretically, guests would have very short waits for the prime MK attractions during this three hour block, although past reports tend to be mixed as to how slow the parks really are during an E-Ride Night.

Provided they have a painless way of identifying resort guests and getting non-resort guests to leave during the extra hour in the evening, I would like this in combination with some extra am hours. We usually go when the MK closes as early as 7pm (AK - 5pm). I would love to have an extra hour some evenings. I don't think I'd like the am extra hour to go away completely though.

The process is very simple. Several hours before the scheduled park closing, resort guests can pick-up a wristband at one of several locations throughout the EMH park. That wristband must be shown before the guest will be permitted to board any attraction during the EMH hours.

They will not "shoo" out people who are non-resort guests--but they will not be able to board any of the attractions.

IMO, these night hours are a fantastic idea. We've never used the morning hours because, frankly, setting my alarm for 6:30am so that I can race to a theme park isn't my idea of a vacation.

Using a split system of some morning hours and some night hours is a great solution that satisfies everyone.
