Mr Potrock was recently in an industry magazine saying DVC members would be getting an exciting new exchange opportunity soon. I was surprised to see this repeated in this month's Disney Files (after wading through the initial pages telling you how good perks are- i.e. Buy direct.)
Does anyone know what thus is?
Any betting it applies to direct purchasers only? Could they even do that on an exchange programme?

As a resale buyer, I won't feel left out because exchanges are a poor economical choice for my points.

Not at all exciting for me. I bought my DVC points to use at DVC. No intention of using them for DCL or ABD (unless the "exchange rate" improves dramatically) or trading to other time-share systems.

Contracts up with RCI? Maybe going back to II? popcorn::
Well RCI are advertising for DVC liaison staff members, so I'd be surprised if they are dumping RCI. I bet it's something new which is only open to direct buyers.

Dual enrollment II & RCI? Or possibly with one of the independent exchange companies esp Trading Places or SFX.

I Disney files we just got it mentioned that the exchange fee was being eliminated for dvc members. Maybe that's it.

Here's part of what Ken said:
As the year unfolds, you’ll also enjoy new exchange options and a continuation of waived transaction fees from RCI, expanded options from Member Services, a variety of special offers, unique access to Disney experiences, a new pioneering place to use your Vacation Points in the neighborhood (our proposed 14th resort, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, scheduled to open in 2017*) and more.

Maybe new additions to BVTC to replace the Club Intrawest/Club Cordial resorts.

I think II is a great exchange option. RCI has slim pickings.

On paper, that's true. Unfortunately DVC always had horrible trading power within II, making it difficult to get the better resorts in their program.

It depends. If you take the systems with internal trading preference like Marriott and Starwood out of the mix, it's not that different. On paper I think II is better but in reality I think they're about equal overall from a quality standpoint. And RCI fits better though II isn't as far off as they used to be. Plus as Tim points out, II gave DVC generic Orlando trading power which was a killer they way their trading algorithm is set up anyway. There are reasons not to do dual affiliation but I could see it happening. IMO the best option from the members stand point and ultimately from DVC's as well, is to either liaison with on of the better private exchange companies or to expand the BVTC in a joint venture with the likes of Marriott, Starwood, Hyatt. Worldmark, Westin, VRI and the like could be workable if you excluded the lower end resorts. If they were able to get it broad enough, they could completely do away with the big 2.

Haven't seen that this is for direct only, but if it is...post 2016, post 2011, post 2017, direct only?
