Someone should have told the people in the room next to us in 2004 I think it was. It was night, I went out on the balcony to wait for Illuminations to start and there was a couple sitting out there in the raw! The guy got up and swiftly went back inside their room. I couldn't see too much, but I could tell he wasn't wearing anything! The woman just sort of sat there in shock I guess that he left her out there alone! I guess she was waiting for me to get up and go inside, but I had no intentions. Once she stood up I got a good view of her upper nude half out of the corner of my eye!
Let that be a warning to anyone requesting a balcony at the Swan/Dolphin!
Blondie!~I can actually recall a long thread which moved in this direction (voyeuristic exploits on WDW resort balconies, etc)! All I can say is WOW!

In all the times we have had a balcony, I've never seen so much as a tushie! LOL...
Mouseteacher~Yes, the SD staff always seemed to be more accommodating and apt to offer upgrades than the Disney resort staff (IMHO).
The Balcony rooms overlooking Epcot and Illuminations are beautiful, especially on the upper floors of that far East wing. You were near the top on the 8th floor--with great views.

If I recall you posted beautiful photos of the views from that room, which were unobstructed and clear (could see the Epcot Globe too!).
You are right about the "balcony" providing the illusion of more space. I believe this is true for a cruise ship room/suite, apartment or resort hotel room too! Just leaving the curtains open and taking~in the additional availability makes the area "seem" much larger than it is. I've always loved rooms with balconies.
jgates~Hello Jenny! Of course I remember you, (and your sweet DD too). You were at the Tea in the GF/04. Glad to read things are all going well for you. It's been a long time since I've seen you post here, and I've often wondered how everything was going with you? Wow...your son is finishing civil engineering school? Congrats to him on that wonderful accomplishment.
I definitely recall the end of HS time, etc., and all the conversations in regards to the future. Glad to read everything is going so well.

Hope you all make it to the WDW Dolphin soon, marathon or not! BTW...I had no idea they had a limit to the # of runners/entries in the race (and it's already full)? I guess I underestimated the popularity of this event!
ztam3~Welcome! Nice to read of your excitement about your first visit to the Dolphin.

The boardwalk and Jellyrolls is very close (walking distance) as Jenny and others reported. If you stay in the far east wing, you can take the stairs at the end of the hall and you'll be even closer (to the bridge and the BW) through this exit. You will not be able to return via this door though (as it locks behind you with no key swipe, etc).
Hieatt~Nice to see you again.

Glad to hear you are still enjoying the Dolphin. The corner turrets are great rooms, but have none which connect (sadly), as Gail wrote. The option would be a room right next door, which depending on the age of your children--may/may not be a bad idea. The suites are always great--and offer extra room, etc. (as you are aware).
But, the nice privacy/idea of the romantic corner turret for you and your wife--may be worth the trouble. Just keep a close eye on the kids, and a key to their room in your pocket for "drop-ins" anytime, etc. There is a junior suite (2-room) on the far west side, overlooking the pool with a balcony. I would be able to obtain the room numbers if you are interested. It's a very nice suite from all reviews/accounts.
