New England Beach Vacation?

That hotel is gorgeous!! Just what I'm looking for! Unfortunately, they don't seem to take 3 in a room?? Keeps saying I need two rooms for a party of 3 - doesn't make sense. And I know, I can't afford to get two rooms just for the 3 of us and I wouldn't want my 9 DS sleeping in a hotel room by himself anyways...

If you're looking for a real resort vacation Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod can't be beat. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney based the Yacht Club on CBI. We actually spend our summers in the town of Chatham but have only stayed at the resort a couple of times. It is a little pricey in the middle of the summer but they ahve a great kids program. The Town of Chatham (just about a block away) is just beautiful with lots of fun shopping, great candy shop, great family golf course on siteand the beach and pool are really nice. If you find it too pricey right next door is a smaller hotel (same Beach) called The Hawthorne which is older and less resorty but great beach and easy walk to restaraunts and town. We just love Chatham in the summer.

We've been going to Ogunquit for the past 9 years. We love it! There is little that is ocean front there, in the traditional sense. The place we will stay again this year is Anchorage by the Sea. It is on the marginal path and overlooks the craggy rocks a the ocean. What everyone has said about the beaches there is true. They are beautiful, albeit cold. The thing I love about the Anchorage is that they have a beautiful pool area that has little boys to get you mudslides as you sun yourself and read. There are two hot tubs that are actually hot, unlike most that we've been in that are just warm. There is an inside pool and a large lawn area for relaxing at night, watching the ocean, sipping whatever adult beverage you've brought from your room.

Our second favorite place is the Juniper Hill. You can see it and its sister properties at www.ogunquit.com. We've also stayed at the Milestone. Both are within walking distance to the beach. The former goes to the Maine Beach and the latter to Footbridge Beach. I like Footbridge Beach better because there are less crowds.

We only moved our car twice last year. Once to go to the Ogunquit Playhouse to see Aida and the other time was for my DD and I to make our annual trek to Freeport. I've never paid more than $10 in the LLBean Outlet for a pair of pants.

Ooh, and remember, when you're driving through NH, make sure to stop at a liquor store. The prices are much better there than in PA, at least and you get a better selection than what is available in Ogunquit.

I can hardly wait for July!

Westport Massachusetts. Horseneck Beach is the best. I grew up there.
Dartmouth Massachusetts Padanarum section of town for beaches
New Bedford Massachusetts has the whaling museum and the cobblestone streets.
Fall River Massachusetts has the battleship, the Lizzie Borden Museum, shopping outlets.

I like reading this thread, there are so many places to visit. Some places you would never think to visit. ::yes::
