Is there anyplace that does something similar to Hersheyparks Candylane?
I know Santas Village is open in december, but don't really want to go all the way up there :)
is there anything else similar?

fyi..on a different note...bass pro shop Christmas wonderland is going on now til december 24th.

oh goodness I forgot about Edaville! we went one year when dd was about 18 mo old! it was really nice, we didn't do the train ride though as the wait time was just too long, but it was nice walking around seeing all the lights!

I don't know what Hershey Candylane is, but I did see an ad that Jordan's Furniture in Avon, MA now has the Enchanted Village which used to be on City Hall Plaza and at Jordan Marsh way way back in the day.

The Stone Zoo has Zoolights that is pretty good. There are decorations, a photo op with Santa and hot cocoa/winter snacks.

I remember going to Boston to see the village in Jordan Marsh.

Such a great memory. I would do that at Jordan's for sure, and the parking is free, which is more that you could ever say in Boston!

Also as I remember more:

Plimouth Plantation seemed to have some Christmas rememberances, as did Sturbridge Village. I do not know about Strawberry Banke in Porthsmouth.

we have been to the Christmas festivities at Sturbridge, we are planning that again as well. I highly recommend it, its really nice.

Thanks for all the ideas.

I found this website if anyone is interested.

under Things to See and Do there is a tab for Events- Holiday and it lists lots of christmas activities, you can click on each state to get the specific ones.

On a small level there is the Fatima Shrine in Holliston. It is a quiet place decorated with lots and lots of lights. It is a holiday tradition for our family to dress warmly, walk around, light a couple of candles, and then head down the road to Bertucci's for dinner. It is nothing fancy - they have a small gift shop and sell hot chocolate. Very low key and the crowds aren't bad.

Oh Goodness...I grew up in Holliston!! And I forgot the lights. Although Berttuci was Walter's Dairy and had great ice cream.

LaSallette (?) in I think Attleborough is a beautiful Catholic site with amazing lights, music, with hot chocolate available too.

There is also Bright Nights in Forest Park in Springfield. I believe it is the largest holiday light display in New England. My kids love going.

We usually stop by the Yankee Candle Flagship store in Deerfield for an hour or so in the late afternoon and then hit Bright Nights on the way home when it is dark.

Thinking of trying Sturbridge Village this year. We live right around the corner from it really and have never gone.

I was just about to post what Heather already said....so a second vote for Yankee Candle (we usually take our Christmas card pictures with Santa there!) and Forest Park in Springfield.

We live in NJ and are actually headed to LaSalette in a few weeks for a looong day trip to the shrine and see the Festival of Lights. Growing up in SE MA, it used to be a tradition. Now I want my kids to experience it too!

Enjoy, whatever you decide to do!
