We have booked a free dining package in September at Pop Century standard room. Husbands health deteriorated and now can only walk very short distances so info on here re renting ecv very helpful.
Staying first week at Universal hotel and then 10 nights at Disney how would that work Would company bring ecv to universal and then transport to disney. Would we do 2 bookings we have no car and usually get a taxi from universal to disney.

If I rang Disney and universal would they switch room to an accessible one without it affecting my Disney package.

Then I suppose I will need to ring the airline Virgin re assistance as we are travelling from the UK.

Any advice welcomed.

There are accessible taxis you could use to transfer from Universal to WDW, or depending on how much luggage even a regular taxi if the ECV you have rented is portable. Some models can be broken down into several pieces and then carried in a car trunk. If you want to have the rental company do the transport, it may be considered 2 separate rentals; I suggest you ask the rental companies when you contact them.

If using the ECV is all your husband needs, that will fit into any standard room at the WDW resorts. If he has other needs requiring an accessible room (mainly this includes handrails in the bathroom and possibly a roll-in shower), then you will want to contact WDW about changing your reservation. I honestly don't know what that might do to your free dining package, you'll need to ask if they can work with you to keep it.

If he will require assistance during your travels, yes, you'll want to contact your airline.

Enjoy your vacation!

You would need to ask the rental company, but usually it would be up to the person renting to bet the ECV to the next destination. I would probably do 2 reservations or check for a shuttle company that could transport the EVC. Depending on the model, it might break down to smaller pieces.

You will need to check first to see there are still available accessible rooms available. At WDW, the accessible rooms are a booking category. When looking for a HA room for my sister, there are times I want to stay at a certain resort, but there are no HA rooms available so I have to pick a different resort.

Thanks - in terms of the rental, I will contact the various companies to see what the best solution might be ie 2 separate rentals or hiring a large enough vehicle ie taxi to transport us.

If we are not successful in securing an accessible room, are all the doors to the rooms the same size - in other words is the front door on a standard room wide enough to accommodate an ecv? Hopefully he should be able to manage once in the room (with assistance from myself and daughter) to get around - its just that grab rails etc would be useful to help with the shower etc
