New DVC Ticket Deal

I have never picked up tickets at Disney before. Always had them in advance of our trips. So, if I buy these for my parents and link them to my MDE account - I still need to go where before entering the park? Guest services outside of the park? Or ticket booth? My parents will be with us. The rest of the family will have different tickets since we are staying longer and want to park hop.

You may be able to activate your tickets at any of the Guest Services or at a Park ticket booth. Last November, we purchased DVC APs before our trip and received a confirmation number. When we arrived at Hollywood Studios, a CM told us we could go either to GS or a ticket window to activate our APs. Since there was no waiting at a ticket booth, we went there. The CM activated the APs for the two of us and confirmed they were properly accessible via our three sets of MagicBands (we had a three split stay). It took about 10 minutes and we were good to go.

I'm assuming these special DVC 4-Park tickets will be activated the same way.

But does the Fl pass include no repeats? Can you use those tickets to go to MK one day and Epcot three days?

I believe you can use them all for 1 park if you want, they (FL resident tickets) expire the end of 2015.

I currently have 8 days left on my non-expiring tickets. Wonder if the system is smart enough to use the four day tickets and the non-expiring tickets during the same week, when appropriate. For example, our week looks like this:

Day one- Animal Kingdom (day 1 of 4 from DVC ticket)
Day two- EPCOT (day 2 of 4 from DVC ticket)
Day three- Magic Kingdom (day 3 of 4 from DVC ticket)
Day Four- Magic Kingdom (1 day from non-expiring ticket)
Day Five- Hollywood Studios (day 4 of 4 from DVC ticket)

Thoughts?? Do I try it or would it just be a hassle in the end??

Yes, GS outside the park. You will receive a confirmation that you will need, along with your DVC card and ID and you will receive the actual tickets at that time. You can go to GS at any time, it does not have to be right before entering. For example you could go the evening before so you don't have to worry about crowds when you want to get right in the park.

Thanks! We are staying at BCV, so I will plan to go to GR outside Epcot on the evening we arrive (wasn't planning to go to park until the next morning). I am also thinking about renewing our AP's for my DH and myself. So, I would activate them at the same time.

The whole point of "price bridging" is to ensure guests are not "robbed" of a discount they are legitimately entitled to.

Going on that theory, I would HOPE that these special $199 DVC tickets would be given a value of at least a 4 day base ticket (yes, I understand it's not exactly apples-to-apples since a regular base tix doesn't have the non-repeat clause) which is $294 +tax.

Anyone with first hand experience, please report back!

I had spoken with chat the other day and was told if one was to buy this 4 day ticket then upgraded to an AP the additional cost would be roughly 300 dollars

We are going in Dec for 8 days but don't have tickets yet, and I had thought perhaps it was a chance to get an AP even cheaper, but it won't work. At least that's what I was told.

My understanding is it prioritizes the tickets by putting them in a order. Since the new ticket would not be good on day Four, it would pull from the next ticket in line. So when you got the 4 day ticket you'd have to make sure they put the 4 day ticket as first in line, after that you should be all set. And if by chance it pulled the last day of your 4 day ticket on day four, it really wouldn't matter anyway unless it were a park hopper and you were planning to take advantage of that option.

It is more restricted than other tickets, yes, because it stipulates one day in EACH of the 4 parks, and can only be upgraded to the AP. Because Disney meetings/convention tickets are not "bridged", I am assuming these will not be either. But we are still getting a discount on the actual AP...it is $100 less than the gate price. So, for about $305, we can upgrade this ticket to the AP...no advantage to doing it, though, other than to split your payment up in different months.

There is a disadvantage too. If you buy the 4 day ticket and link it to your mb with intentions of upgrading when you arrive, keep in mind no matter how long your trip is, you will only be able to make FP selections for 4 days because only 4 days will show park admission. I say order a AP voucher and link that to make your advance FP selections.

I realize this, but what you were told is contradictory to everything else about purchasing DVC discounted tickets. I believe what the CM was implying was you can set up the FP+ and link to MDE in advance with confirmation #. Or, if you pick up your physical tickets earlier in the day and then leave the tickets for the kids. But at some point you would have to show your DVC id to pick up those tickets. Just like most other times when Disney releases something new they have failed to educate CMs.

I think my conversation with MS was easy to understand. have you either called or done a chat with member services regarding this or are you making an assumption?

I just did another chat with MS, it can't be any clearer that:

* members can purchase tickets and assign them to whoever they choose to designate &

* the value to upgrade to an annual pass is the amount paid i.e. $199.xx

Well, I thought about these tickets, but since we are going in early December, park hopping will be essential. So, I opted for 5 day PH tickets through Undercover Tourist. Saved more than $120 over the park pricing for our party of 4 adults.

I believe that the DVC tickets are too restrictive, especially if you go around the holidays. I can always upgrade to an AP when we get there if we decide to with our DVC discount.

I also ordered MVMCP tickets with our DVC discount and we have to go to Guest Services at whatever park we want when we get there to pick them up. We have to show our membership card and ID. So, I cannot imagine that these park tickets are any different. They cost more than party tickets, so why wouldn't they have you show your membership card and ID? I can't believe that they would allow a non-DVC member pick up tickets that were only able to be purchased by DVC members.

I just really wish that the DVC bosses would make it easy and just give a % discount on whatever kind of ticket you want.

The DVC bosses are not in control of it. They have to negotiate with the other departments at Disney. I recently talked to Member Satisfaction about the D23 discounted silver membership that I could not get because I already signed up for the worthless free membership offered last year. I was told DVC does not make the rules, it was D23's rule that only totally new D23 members could get the silver discount.

You appear to be the only one reporting that no DVC ID needs to be shown and no one has to pick up the tickets at all, they can just be sent to MDE.
So basically members can buy 8 of these and sell them to strangers or even to ticket brokers.

I'm not saying you are making this up, I'm just being aware of the fact that I haven't seen anyone else reporting this. You will want to be cautious when your family picks these up or tries to use them, It will probably take a few minutes to chat with CMs to get it straight.

To true! In the world of Disney, DVC is just another profit center with very little power.

On a couple of occasions when talking to CM's from the DVC executive offices, I was told that often as a guest, I would get more cooperation when talking to the resort then they do.

I'm not going to hold out hope for it. Now that they've announced this 'deal', I'm betting the standard DVC discount is all we'll get in that direction, providing of course that they don't take that away.

To save a few, it looks like next summer will be a good time to break out those 5d-PH passes I picked up a while back as well as the universal 2 day passes that are squirreled away.

My last note got me to wondering: Will this offer encourage more DVC owners to go offsite to fill in the other days of their trip? Like letting an indoor only cat outside for this first time, this could backfire on them once owners get a taste of freedom..

I did make the time to call MS to verify the above & the information I received via the chats checks out!

Additional details:

Members must call MS & purchase. You cannot buy them at the park.

You may use 2 forms of payment per transaction.

You do not need to 'name' the person who will utilizing the tickets at the time of purchase

You are given the confirmation #(s) which the member then links directly to the person's MDE account via a 'friend' basis.

If you need 100% assurances, then I suggest you make the effort to call MS to verify what I posted.

btw, I posted the content of my chats in an attempt to help other members make a decision before they called to make the purchase.

I'm not trying to be snarky and I never implied that YOU were planning to sell the tickets. I was pointing out that your conversations appear to be contrary to everything we know about DVC discounted tickets.

I also wanted to point out that your party should be prepared to spend a little time while picking these up because I don't think it will be so simple as to just have them in MDE and go right into the parks.
