new DVC resort?

I was looking over an old DVC Vacation Magic newsletter today, and I noticed something that was new to me. The newsletter is the Fall 2001 issue. It has an article about a new DVC resort to be built at Eagle Pines Gold Course. The resort was to be of South Floridian architecture and to be designed by the same man who designed Coronado Springs. It says that the first sections of the resort would be opening in Summer 2004.
I had never heard of this resort before, and I havne't heard anything about a new resort being built. Any ideas or thoughts on what may have become of this resort?

I think it was put on the back burner while the DVC people focused on Saratoga Springs Resort. Nothing has been officially mentioned from DVC about what happened with the plans for this resort, but as soon as plans for SSR were announced, nothing more was mentioned about Eagle Pines. I am not sure if they will ever continue with the Eagle Pines plans. I hope so, it looked like a great resort.

Eagle Pines isn't dead, just delayed. Prior to the demiss of the DI, it was to be the next resort. Surveys were in progress and it was announced to DVC members that it was coming. But since DI was failing and the condo's there were aging & in need of overhaul, it suddenly made more sense to recycle the area with SSR.

I would assume that when the final stages of SSR are being built and if demand remains high, then EP will be a go once again.

The rumor was Disney found it cheaper to build SSR. The infrastructure (roads, utilites) were already there. The current rumor is the one of the wings at the Contemporary will be torn down and used for the next DVC.
