New DVC policy

First of all if this is the wrong board please re-route this.
We just got off the phone DVC. We wanted to make a reservation in October for friends. The DVC person said that we had to supply the name, address & phone number of the person. At that moment we did not know what name our friend wanted on the reservation (husband or wife) & the DVC person said whatever name is on the reservation is the person who has to show up. I know they are trying to stop all renting of points on-line but what if my husband & I are going, the reservation is in his name & he can't go. She said that would be a problem - we would have to cancel the reservation and re-book hoping there is still availabilty.
This seems like over-kill to me - what does everone think? (policy was effective 1-3-07)

Call back. Some of the CMs seem to have this new policy wrong. You CAN change the name. If the CM gives you a hard time ask to speak to a supervisor.

Agree. Call back. And for what it's worth, why couldn't you put both husband and wife on the reservation? That way either one could check in for the group.

Seems there are many new CMs at MS - some still have much to learn. Be nice about it, but do ask for a Supervisor if a CM says something that seems wrong to you.

I just finished day by day ressies for December 2007. I booked two studios, BWV. Pretty sure my mom and sis are coming with us, but not positive so I told the CM to keep both ressies in my name.

He told me that if I do this I run the risk of having one ressie cancelled! When I explained the situation he told me to put my DH name on one room, and mine on the other to be sure it woud not be cancelled.

Anyone heard this one yet? This was just today.

Seems to me they are trying to stop people from making reservations for Prime time Oct Dec etc and then selling them as booked prime vacations and then changing the name to who ever they sold it to. A few months back there was a thread about people regularly doing this and selling them on very professional web site on ebay etc. Guess they are trying to do something about that.
