New DVC Member with existing Rental Reservation

I recently became a DVC member, but I made a reservation with rented points from David's rentals. Will I receive the same DVC membership benefits as if I made the reservation with my account as long as I have my member ID? ie. Top of the World Lounge access. I know that I can't make any changes to the reservation, and that only the member that I rented from can make any changes. Is there any other drawbacks?

Yes and no. Right now Top of the World is open to all members regardless of where you are staying. Your dining, and merchandise and recreation discounts will be available to you, as long as you have your DVC membership card.

You won't be able to pool hop. That is a perk for DVC members that are staying at DVC resorts on their points.

Oh ok. I'm not concerned about Pool Hopping. We'll be going in the winter time, so i don't think we'll be seeing much of the pool

Nope, no drawbacks. We are members who are going next month on a combined rental/our own points trip. We have done this before and it has worked out perfectly fine. Never had an issue using any of our perks or discounts when we have rented.

Nope, no problems! We did the same thing when we bought. We had a rented reservation for October and we finalized our own purchase in August. I got a shiny new membership card and all the privileges of membership.
