Hi all. I'm a new DVC member (bought resale at BCV) and just booked a stay for November. Been thinking about the booking and now I have a question. Here's my situation.

My points were not available till February, 2003 so I had to borrow. I booked a BWV studio (preferred view) because that's all that was available for all the nights I wanted. I would have liked to have used less points so my question is, if I wait list for a standard view or for OKW and get it, what happens to the points no longer needed for the stay?

Thanks for any guidance.

Since you borrowed them, they will have to be used before Jan. 31, 2003.

Unless you think you'll be in a position to use the points you save before Jan. 31, 2003, just enjoy the BWV studio.

Most of November doesn't require too many points anyway. BWV is a great location. And you should get a nice view -- not necessarily a Boardwalk view, but at least not a parking lot view.

Because you own at BCV, you need to become accustomed to the higher point chart that BWV Preferred, VWL, and BCV have in common. Sure, you can try to get OKW or BWV Standard at the 7-month mark, but the risk of waiting is that you may get nothing at the 7-month mark -- at any WDW DVC resort.

If you try to protect yourself by booking at BCV at the 11-month mark and then trying to change to OKW or BWV Standard at the 7-month mark, you can run into the same predicament (what to do with the saved points) if you are dealing with borrowed or banked points (that have to be used by the end of the use year) or with current year points have have passed beyond the banking window (towards the end of your use year).

Enjoy your stay at BWV. My wife and I stayed there last November in a 1-BR, and it was wonderful.
