:disrocks: First I want to say a VERY BIG THANK YOU, you all have been instrumental in our new purchase of DVC.
Now the question,
I have notice that some people are unhappy with their rooms, I will be making reservations soon and I was wondering what you can request, I do understand that maybe I won't get it, thats ok, maybe next time. We are hoping to stay in BWV's or VWL, what do I need to know before I call for reservations? We would like a 2bedrm.

Thanks again for your help and I'm sure I will have more questions in the very near future.

Basic requests would be things like smoking/non-smoking, second floor, near bus stop, woods view, near elevator, etc.

I'd stay away from requesting specific room numbers, since it's easy to be disappointed, but general requests in the order of importance to you would be fine. Some things can be guaranteed (at BWV you can reserve a standard view room or a Boardwalk view room and have it guaranteed), but in general just request what is important to you.

Most have found their room assignments to be fine without making requests, so don't get too hung up on requests- you're likely to have a great trip regardless!

Enjoy!

Something that has ALWAYS worked for us is... to call the front desk of the resort and ask for the Manager that handles room assignments.

I've never been denied to talk to him/her. And, we've always gotten what we've wanted. The key is to call him/her about 7-10 days prior to our arrival date. I'll tell him/her what we want and he/she has ALWAYS told me that they'll do whatever they can to make it happen.

Once we arrive and get what we wanted (or very close to it) I will seek out the Manager to say thanks!

You probably get a distorted view of the check-in process from reading the boards. You might think that you have to prepare like you're taking the SAT or someting, but it's really not that bad. You hear about all the problems, but for every foul up there are thousands of great experiences. I hope you find smooth sailing, a great big smile, and a "welcome home" for your first trip as a DVC member.

Requests are based on your personal preferences. I usually place NS and non-HA at the top of my list. The other requests would depend on how you like to vacation. How much would view matter if you're an all day park commando?

The important thing is to arrive early enough before all the rooms are assigned. If you have a late arriving flight, grab an off-site or value room for the first night and check-in the next morning. Good luck!

I see the post about calling and talking to someone that assigns the rooms, there's also been suggestions to fax your request to the resort a few days before you go down.

If you check the DVC members web site it requests that members don't do this but to note all your room requests on your reservation since that's supposed to be the only thing that is looked at for filling room requests.

I wouldn't worry too much about your room assignment. There aren't that many 'bad' rooms to be had. Are there some that are better than others? Well, probably. But, keep in mind that a room view that I think is really stinky, you might think is wonderful. I wouldn't want a view of Luna Park at BWVs but many do. So, you should be fine. Of course, there is the dreaded dumpster view at VWL!!! But, I think that would be only about 4 rooms that are impacted. So, what are the chances you would get one??
