New DVC member magic band questions

Hello everybody

We recently purchased at Animal Kingdom. We purchased direct and received park hopper passes as a bonus. We have also booked trips in feb and may. So we want to upgrade the park hoppers to AP. I would also like to choose magic band colors because we will be using them for a long time. I had no planned on upgrading the hoppers until I went to Downtown Dis the first night of my trip. I looked on mde and it seems since I don't have tickets I can't order any magic bands. Friends who own dvc and ap for a few years have already received their bands for a trip at the same time

Is there anyway for me to preorder magic bands?

It will depend upon how your hoppers are coded...as promotional tickets or as purchased tickets. If you can, just link your MDE to your current hoppers and order your magic bands. Take a laptop or other device that can access MDE on your trip, and once you upgrade, then link the AP in MDE.

They received bands for February? I thought it was 30 days, I just got mine for Nov 10 last week. I believe they just started allowing December to start customizing their bands and make FP+ selections.

As your first trip is not until Feb, it may simply be you are not within the 60 day window. I ordered my Magic bands after online check in completed. Plenty of time to customize etc. within 30-60 days out. The FP+ however will require park tickets be entered in MDE in order to reserve times.

I was thinking about linking the hoppers I have. Just want to be sure that won't eliminate my upgrade to ap eligibility.

For a trip in December you should have access to Magic Bands. FP+ selections will not be an option until you have tickets linked to your MDEx profiles.

For the Magic Bands, try doing on line check in. If you have already done it try modifying it. You don't need to change anything, just go back into the check in system, proceed through the screens and then hit Submit/Done. This has caused the Manage Magic Bands link to change to Personalize Magic Bands for many posters.

If all else fails call IT at (407) 939-7765 (press #2). If you get a CM that tells you you need to wait for an invitation or who seems otherwise unhelpful say thank you, hang up and call back. There has been a lot of misinformation coming from front line phone CMs. The bottom line is that you should have access so just keep calling until you get a CM that will help you.
