New DVC logo coming

Like I said, I wasn't particularly attached to the old logo. My only objection was the expense of changing, and any potential for that expense to be passed to the members.

Now that it's here, I'll jump on the bandwagon.
:laughing:all part of the flexibility that comes with DVC membership!

nice job:thumbsup2saw the other thread you posted, when im low on trips i'll be back.

I recently returned from a trip down to WDW and that new logo is on the back of all the buses - "Disney Best Kept Secret" has finally been retired, or so it seems - but they still have one phrase to change and it's on the red car flag - it should read "Where to next?" like on some of the buses. Not sure how I feel about the new logo - but some of the phrases are nice - I saw at least 3 different ones on my trip.

We would rather it had stayed "Disney's Best Kept Secret" years ago, and we are not talking about the slogan here. OKW was it and it was great being a DVC member with all the perks; :sad1: which a lot of them have been taken away now. It felt exclusive, and more like a real club. DVC has expanded so far with so many members it is becoming the in thing these days if you go to WDW at all. We know of very few people that go to WDW these days that are not DVC members.
When we assist others with trip planning they end up buying in when they take a tour while on property.
Don't get us wrong, we still love it and just added on but it just seems to have lost its charm of being a real club… or a special thing.

Oh well... Disney Cruises Hear We Come! At least there one can predict the crowd size. ;)

Yes, there were a lot of perks, but even if the expansions didn't occur, it would have been a whole different beast. If you really think about it, the original owners back then were taking a huge leap of faith. If the program did not take off, most likely the loss of perks would have still happened and all the owners would only have OKW with rooms only...almost a forgotten experiment. So, while it has changed for better or worse you should be proud of jumping in when you did and getting a great bargain compared to the current membership costs, etc!

I agree it has lost some of its charm. It was sold to us as an exclusive club when we bought in 92. Told there would not be any more on property! Sad...We still go but we take more cruises now because it is so crowded and I'm tired of hearing all the "experts" talk about it t the pool...lol

Those of us who are veteran members and who do not like the new logo can at least take solace in the fact all our items with the old logo (particularly the rarer three mountain variant) will become collectibles. Anyone who is skeptical may want to check out eBay; three mountain items have already been collecting a premium for years there. Now the two mountain ones will join them.

Also, I was amused to read the Jim Lewis piece in the issue of Disney Files that arrived today. He says the "new" (read recycled) logo was the product of "artists" who "set out to create a bold new logo".

Yep, whatever you say, Jim........:rolleyes1

I'm here right now at SSR - and not only is it on the buses, both outside and in, and it is now also on the park maps. I didn't see it on any of the kiosks at DHS or DTD... yet, but no doubt it will be changed out in those places as well soon enough. The easiest, quickest places to change out will certainly come first. In a prior employment situation I was a Branding & Signage Manager for a large international corporation, and changing physical signage on a multitude of individual locations certainly takes time... it was thousands in my case, DVC's is dozens to a few hundred that DVC has between both WDW and DLR will take time. Print collateral can be changed out very quickly.

Personally, I'm not into this whole "global" thing.
Life would be great if I never had to leave the great USA.

You are not obligated to ever leave the US, but acknowledging the existence of the rest of the world is typically viewed as a constructive thing.

:rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl:

I'm not sure why, but these comments just really appealed to me today - thank you. :hippie:

The "global idea" could mean more than just the future expansion of the resorts ... personally, I see it as a nod to Canadian and international DVC owners. :goodvibes

If they do decide to build a DVC resort (or even a DVC addition to one of the current resorts) at DLP, I hope the point values are lower. :rolleyes1

I tried giving it a couple of days but the only thought I think when I look at it is disbelief over how much time and money they probably spent on it. It does nothing to suggest vacation to me which the old one did.

And - it will need to be changed again. Sometimes change is only change and not for the better.

I am all for something new...just as long as Mickey is somehow included!

:rainbow:

Now there is the spirit! This is how I feel as well. My dues are going up, no matter where the money is spent. I love Disney, I bought in with all this in mind so I don't let this bother me.

:woohoo:I'm down with it!:woohoo:

I saw this variation on some fliers they are handing out at the kiosks in Disneyland:

98% or more of the courtesy van fleet has been stripped of the "Best Kept Secret" graphics now, including the removal of the oversized Goofy or Pluto that each had. They are still using the old logos on the vans, but since those are just magnets anyway, they'll probably get the new logo fairly quickly now.

Like the old logo better than this new one....

Not that I am "attatched" to the old one or anything (though yes I like it!) they are welcome to create a new logo...but I wish it was more artistic like the old one.

Cannot imagine buying a shirt with this new logo on it! :( New logo looks CHEAP imho!!

Why do I get a mental picture of Iago invading some Tropical Paradise at the MK appearring in my head when I read that! :) Look how well that Change worked out..... so now with DVC we have our own "Under New Logo", Eh!?

Similar feelings for me.

I personally really enjoyed the prior DVC logo. Of all the vinylmations that my family owns, our DVC vinylmation happens to be my favorite overall. Love the look of that logo....it is colorful, makes me think of being on a vacation, and I love the sly Mickey that pops into the background as a sun.

This new logo....I'm sorry....but it is extremely boring. From the Disney Files cover to the bus signs, to other pictures that have been posted of this logo, it continually looks unexceptional to me. If they want to use it for certain things, go ahead....but I really wish we weren't losing a logo that is much more creative, colorful, and makes me excited about my next trip.

Actually I think the new logo would look good embroidered on a polo shirt. I still like them both. Maybe on Welcome Home Wednesdays they'll get rid of the red hats and have some nice navy ones with the new logo. :thumbsup2
