I spoke with my guide yesterday (1/16/03) when I called to inquire about a BCV add on. She advised me that a new incentive was starting for add on's. If you add on 100 points or more you would get $10.00 off a point (if you gave back your 2002 points).
She advised me that this was for add-on's only.
I was calling to add 50 points but now am condidering 100 point add on (for $74.00 a point).

This sound good, I will have to check with my guide, beause I 'd like the same thing!

What's the minimum number of points you can buy as an add-on? I thought it was 25, is that right?

Yes, 25 is the minimum for an add-on, 50 is the minimum for Disney to finance.

(if you gave back your 2002 points).

Wow! That seems like a good deal--but would it be 2002 points or 2003 points?

-DC :)

It IS 2002 points. They give them to you, you pay no dues on them, then they will buy them back at $10 per. Basically it works out to taking $10 point off the price.

I got all excited until I re-read the post - minimum of 100 points!!! Out of my financial range for now.

Yeow - I was thinking of a 25 point addon. Now I don't think I can afford to NOT buy 100!

I'm hopeless...

Wow!

Thanks for the info! I had called 2 days ago to start a 100 point add-on and I wasn't told of the new incentive and I just called and told my guide I wanted it. I have an August use year and I don't need any points until Aug of 2003 anyway, so at $74 per point, you can't beat it!

even disney knows that $10 a point is a good price..that is why I cant understand why people sell thier points for less than that on the rent board...you should take the points and sell them yourself..you can get more than $10 a point..

Golfnut, with the greatest respect, what's the "extra" you're likely to earn by renting them yourself. $12 PP maybe 13?. If you sell back to Disney at $10, you have absolutely no risk of not getting paid or the booking getting cancelled. Unless one is involved in actively "trading" their points I think the majority of people would rather "sell back" to Disney for a slightly lower price than face the work of renting them out privately and running the risk of something not going according to plan. Also you get paid "up front" with Disney as it would be deducted from your payment, the time value of money makes their offer worth at least an extra couple of $ per point UNLESS you can rent your points out really quickly.

i bought in november and the were only offering $5 a point..i kept them as was able to sell at an average of $12.50 per point...if they offered $10 i probabaly would have sold them back and not made the extra $500..my time and effort to me was worth getting the extra $500....knowing what i know now i would never sell points for less than $12 a point unless to family or friends..that is not being to greedy it is being fair... the points that are sold on these boards are too cheap for me and disney realizes the value of a point if they are willing to buy back at $10....

After reading this post, I got on the phone, called my guide and asked him about the new incentive. By the time I hung up, I had bought a 100 point add-on at BCV.

The deal is that if you buy at BCV or WLV, you must add on at least 100 points, and then $1,000 is deducted from your 20% downpayment. Therefore, I only had to come up with $860. I am financing so my payments over 10 years will be $92.23 (I'll pay it off sooner though). The deal is a little better with an add-on at Vero or HH. You can add on fewer points and receive a $15.00 per point deduction on the downpayment.

I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to DVC! But I'm doing the add-on happy dance!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Funny story:
I was in the office yesterday, with the completed contracts for a 100 point add at BCV. I had just signed the check and was about to seal the package when I decided to take a coffee break and read some posts on these boards.

When I got to this thread I almost fell out of my chair. I immediately called my salesperson and inquired about the incentive. He was amazed at how fast the news spread. But alas, my contract was not eligible for the discount as it is priced at the $80 price point. All I can get at that price is $5.00 per point.

Oh well...

Any idea how long this will be available? If (and this is a VERY BIG IF) we were to do this, I would want it to be for April to go with my other use year points. It seems too confusing having points available at different times.

April is probably too far away for this to continue. Do you think they will send out information to us about it?

westjones.. when you purchase an add-on you do it for the same use year as the one you already have. It doesn't have to be anywhere near April for you to purchase April points for an add-on.

You aer all dangerous (o.k.. me to0!) I just got off the phone from an add on inquiry.:p They don't have my use year avail. Anyone have expereince (good or bad) with 2 different ones. They would only be a month apart so I think it might be o.k.

BTW, I opted for HH to get low dues and it is selling very quickly. I was told they just want to be finished and that is why the incentive. No Jan or Feb use years left, only 266 left for March.

What is the deal with HH? Can you add on only 50 points with them? DH is saying that 100 points is too much to add on. Are they offering an incentive for HH at the 50 point add on level?

Oh and thanks for clearing up about the 'add on' use year stuff. I didn't realize that you could just add on to you month (if available, sounds like March is all that is available at HH).
DJ

" sounds like March is all that is available at HH"

I think the poster was saying that Jan and Feb are sold out at HH and only a few are remaining for March, but other months are available, so you should be fine for April.
