HI everyone-I was just cathcing up reading, and I think I forgot to tell you all that they no longer have the oatmeal soap at the Swan or Dolphin It was not there when we were staying last week and I inquired and the housekeeping said it had been gone for 2 weeks. Very sad! Where should we voice our disappointment? Any ideas DF?

Hello to all of you SwanDolphin experts!!

First of all, it's been awhile since I've been down to my favorite resort (the Dolphin of course!). In fact wasn't planning on going this summer, had a trip to Vegas' MGM Grand booked instead but yesterday family decided on WDW instead.

So I'm scrambling for info. First of all I didn't realize the Teacher's rate went up to $149 plus they automatically add on that Resort Fee plus I'm paying for my 23 year old "kid".......so we're talking $194 out the door! But, hubby and I are hooked on the place so are willing to pay the price!

Couple of questions; I'm a Starwood member (once I find where I put my #). Could that hopefully get us a room with a balcony? With three boys in the room....I'm really keeping my fingers crossed.

We will have a rental car.....does it cost to park at the S/D?

Kitty 34~Parking is FREE and easy at the Dolphin. If you need specific instructions...I'll offer them in detail (just ask).

Yes...the SPG card always helps to obtain free upgrades. It also usually comes down to availability. As soon as you secure your ressie, be sure to use the request form on the www.swandolphin website and ASK for a BALCONY room witb a view. ^_^ Think positive!

The full size bars of Crabtree and Evelin aloe vera soap are a very nice substitute though. I just LOVED the new soap when we stayed at the Dolphin in Jan.

Why we stay at the Swan/Dolphin
1. Location - Part of the price paid for a Disney trip is your time. I would rather spend it at the resort, parks, etc than on the roadways off property. We did it that way many times, and we won't do it any more. Staying here you are truly centrally located to all things. It is much easier and takes less time to return to the hotel for an afternoon swim and/or nap - which is also a must for us.
2. Theme/Ambiance - I love all things Disney, but I do enjoy the fabulous enviroment at the Swan/Dolphin. Michael Graves, recently of Target fame did much of the design work and it is great! It is whimsical, fantastical, and sophisticated.
3. Starwood - Don't underestimate the value of earing points in this program. We usually stay at Sheraton 4 Points properties - their more economy minded locations when we travel and these stays earn points and nights toward elite statue (gold or platinum). Free upgrades and using points + cash promotions, or just points can make the value of Swan/Dolphin even greater. How much money will you spend to feed your group breakfast everyday? How about free water to take to the parks? (we saved nearly $100 on our last 8 day stay on water alone) What about the evening snacks and beverages? All of this is available on club level rooms which you can get with points and/or upgrades depending on your status (gold or platinum).
4. Tubbi's - The cafeteria style eatery in the Dolphin has great anad filling meals at a compative fraction of the cost of other options at hotels - especially their daily blue plate specials.
There are other things we love like the discounts for teachers, the room amenities, the staff, and the swimming pools.

Oh, I LOVE Crabtree & evelyn products, especially Lavender, summer hill & Gardener's therapy creams. A boutique at the Marketplace across the street sells their entire line, (where I indulge my needs!). Thanks for easing my mind...at least it is not the plain, white MICKEY soaps of the Disney resorts.

bard721~Thanks for reminding me of all the wonderful reasons I too...love the SWAN/DOLPHIN. I enjoyed the fabulous "Blue Plate" specials at Tubbi's a couple of times (one was a T-Bone Steak!). Everything was delicious. There are more things than I recall...to list about "why" I love these resorts. You certainly named the BEST!

*I posted this on the Concierge level thread (BambiTamby's). We are so EXCITED about the rumors...and news, of possible CRUISES to be offered out of CALIF (Long Beach), beginning in the Spring of 2005! We are already on the list. We were planning our third cruise...in August of 2005 (as a Graduation gift for DD). Now, we are planning to take this cruise early, in June, from here in So. Cali. We are either taking the 7-eve, or a 14-eve transitional cruise. We plan to reserve a suite (maybe even a specialty Roy/Walt suite), and will keep you all apprised of the plans. It's GREAT NEWS!

sarahsmom73~ No internet for "2-days?" It drives me batty too! LOL...(how did I ever survive w/o it all those years? Cell phone too?)

And, to add to your "Dolphin Addict" reasons...just take a good look at the pictures posted at the top of this page! WOW!! The architecture is stunning. I also LOVE watching the afternoon summer LIGHTNING STORMS blow in over the LAKE & EPCOT area. The view we have of the area is astounding. It is etched into my permanent memory, so whenever I close my eyes...I am THERE!

Dreamflight! I mentioned the 20th or the 21st of July (Tues or Wed) as being the 2 most favorable dates! *unfortunately madge is coming the latest on the 25th of July... but she may still be here when you are checking in at the Dolphin!

I was up SOOO LATE last night (not sleeping unfortunately!)... we got an interesting phone call! It seems my DH is now the victim of identity theft! I can only imagine what this is going to be like... Well, hopefully I notified enough people last night and started the ball rolling to get this person off of our credit. He even listed his residence in another city where we've never lived!
