Hi to all my S/D friends!

I finally have a definitive result to our on again off again vacation plans. We have been allowed (and quite graciously so, I must say) to reschedule our entire trip to June.

We thought we were going until this morning when our newest employee was taken to the hospital by ambulance for chest pains. We finally decided this trip was NOT meant to be and I made the call. I requested "Marie" because I knew she was one of the best there and was she ever! She intermediated with the executive office for me, and got permission to change our dates to June 15-18. I am going to add 2 more nights on also, so we will have a really wonderful time. Really, I more excited now then ever!!

Marie asked how I knew about her and I told her she gets rave reviews on the Dis boards. She seemed very pleased to hear it.

I've gotta go change my counter...Thanks to everyone here who encouraged me during my vacation "crisis".

I do BELIEVE she is there!She is truly an ANGEL for taking on such a huge responsibility...and making DREAMS come TRUE for so many less-fortunate souls~! She has numerous character traits worthy of aspiration! I hope she having the time of her life...and embracing the "wonder" which she rediscovers every time she visits! :

Yes, indeed, we Red Sox fans are...FANatical! My DSs travel to NYC to see them play the Yankees when they can't get tickets at Fenway and last summer went to Philadelphia to see them play. Btw, just got my cc bill - Red Sox ticket charges on there made my eyes go ! Oh well, I'd rather have them going to Sox games than doing other things that are available to late teens and newly turned 21 year old.

Kimmar~ I love the Samoyed clippie. I absolutely love dogs. My Airedale is the love of my family. She is such a joy and brings us unconditional love, laughter and loyalty. We, in turn, spoil her rotten.

Glad to see my Mouseteacher has reappeared!

Madge! What a nightmare! I am glad it isn't true!

I think caroline is still in the world! I bet they are having a blast! I truly wish I was able to do the same for some of my kids. I can't even get a field trip to the Detroit Historical Museum approved! If it isn't in Flint, the school board thinks it doesn't count! *shaking head* I have been fighting this for years now, as that museum is fantastic and it would help the kids not only with our state tests, but it would show them everything from city, back to country, to city again so they'd realize that there is more life outside of their neighborhoods.

I miss keeping up regularily here! I hope <font size=+1 color=red>everyone </font>is having a fabulous week!

I am so blessed to have such a fabulous & inspirational group of women (okay, and some men...too) in my life on a daily basis (aside from the ones I hold near/dear in my home away from the DIS). I wrote the post about the "pm's", as when I read these emails, I almost ALWAYS tear-up. I feel unworthy of such free-flowing praise for doing little things (offering advice...and sunshine) which only come naturally to me. Reading these messages, is akin to being cyber-hugged each morning~! These life-threads keep us all connected. May your spools never run-dry!

DF - you seemed to be the only one getting attacked in that post!!! But either way I don't think it was anywhere close to needing a mod to step in - everyone was so grateful for that. Huh? Nothing much was happening.

Regardless, it is nice to read both sides so that others know how they can 'fix' the problems if they happen to them also.

I've gotten a lot more gutsy the last few years!!! Heather & I really get gutsy when we go to conventions! Fridges for mom milk (her) & insulin (me), low carb diets (me), bandaids for our feet, extra pillows when she was pregnant!!! Man we asked for it all!!! Gotta love Hyatts - they never blinked an eye!!!!

I agree, jgates. I have also gotten much more gutsy over time, no matter what hotel we stay in. I would have never thought to ask about emptying the minibar if it weren't for reading these threads.

I just finished read the Swan...Long thread. Some people are just grouchy :/

LOL....I agree with you 100%! For some reason, I've always been the TARGET on such threads. The MODS were unecessary on this thread. I take it with a "grain of salt", like water off a duck's back.

In the same BREATH...I believe it is extremely important to "EDUCATE" others whom may be reading the OP'S comments, and believing them to be FACTUAL/TRUTH. It is vital (knowledge is POWER!) to inform these readers (possibly future Swan/Dolphin visitors) of various ALTERNATIVES/OPTIONS available to them which vastly differ from the OP's experience.

Whenever I try to inject such info into a thread...I inevitably get FLAMED for it! (LOL). But, I've learned to merely stand up, dust the ashes off my asbestos jumpsuit...and keep on trucking, baby. I am completely ambivilant when it comes to others "take" on the Dolphin. I am not out to "convince" anyone of the positives, etc. and/or defend the resort against it's perceived shortcomings. After all, it's not like I'm a Starwood corporate sponsor! I merely want people reading these boards to be "enlightened" regarding ALL the aspects some posters unfortunately omit. As I replied on that thread...I TOO am entitled to FREEDOM of EXPRESSION on these boards!!

LOL...in regards to the "Mini-bar", (emptying for private use), I've read threads on this in the past. Posters have reported they were "charged" a service charge to have the mini-bar personnel "empty" it for their use. This is STILL true. Yet, few are aware you are perfectly entitled to EMPTY this little fridge yourself...and NO CHARGE/PENALTY! If I posted such info on a thread of this topic...I would be FLAMED for disagreeing with the OP! Just too many GRUMPIES in the world.

***NOTE: Did you know... The Dolphin/Swan is the safest STRUCTURE in the area in case of a disaster (hurricane, etc)? It is the location for which all surrounding residents are to report in the midst of such a natural catastrophe. ^_^ The "stairwells" are the STRONGEST and most sound area of the resort. It's VERY comforting to know such things, and I tend to sleep better at this resort than any other (aside from the heavenly beds...of course!).

I think I am destined to have 2 reservations. nothing has opened up at the S/D yet for 29-30 March. I don't know why it bugs me to have 2 reservations, because it is no big deal (so I have been told )

I just to make sure that starwood credits my account with 5 nights stayed so I can get my free night Memorial Day weekend

I would do BOTH... Just to be on the SAFE side. Leave a note attached to the exterior of the mini-bar (pack some scotch tape in your luggage...always handy!), and also CALL the ROOM SERVICE MANAGER to inform him/her of your intentions. Request they (mini-bar personnel) not bother you while you are a guest, (as you will not be in need of their services). This should take care of things. Be sure to write all the names of people you speak with in regards to such things. It's always great to have this information should any questions arise.

*Two ressies are no problem. I've had this many times, at many different resorts! I have three ressies at VERO BEACH resort spanning 10 eves this summer! (LOL). I just have to visit the desk in between reservations to obtain new room keys. Other than that, it's no biggie. It also saved me a few $$$, as the discount was only good during certain dates, etc.

I, too, have learned to be more gutsy and everything I have learned and implemented came from this Board -- great rates, upgrades, and speaking up (politely of course) when I need something.

Just think more great rates/rooms will be available for S/D lovers!!!

One of the BEST things about the NON-DISNEY Swan/Dolphin!! Enjoy your Friday, MT. Hope all is well on the "school front!" Today is a beautiful, sunny (80+ today) day. DD is once again assigned to her little charge, (a handicapped 5 YO student named "Haley"), as her HS hosts another annual "Special People day!" She is so blessed to have such opportunities, and enjoy the benefits these events offer. It reminds her..."we are ALL God's children."

DS & I spent the night at Hasbro Children's Hospital here in RI. We're home now. He had a fever and stomach pain that was too similar to a problem with a blood clot he had 4 years ago to ignore. They diagnosed strep and an infected tonsil and also did all sorts of testing to ensure there's no blood clot this time. We saw several of the doctors he did in 1999 and they were wonderful in making sure all is well now. He's also going to get some followup blood work in 2 weeks.

His room was on the top floor of the hospital and the window overlooked I-95. Last night and this morning I watched traffic heading south and kept reminding myself that in 16 weeks we'll be on that same road, heading south!!!! Also, since we were so high I was imagining our view from the Dolphin once we arrive!
