Harleyquinn -
Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

(hockeymom - next you'll be telling her about the secluded balcony I remember reading about!)

By the way - did you get your screen name from being a romance novel fan or a Batman fan?

My DSIL and I are heading out for the Swan tomorrow!!! (with our hotwire rate of $81!!!!!!)

Thanks so much to everyone on this thread:tongue:

Didn't have to post any questions, because all the info I needed was in this thread!

So THANK YOU all! Y'all helped me sooo much.

Added a day......... so take one away! WOOHOO

I'm so psyched! Just now booked my 2nd trip to the Dolphin, 6th Dis trip (I know, I'm a baby here on the Dis boards!) Used my brand new Disney Visa- I checked out the kids free package deal, doesn't work well for us though as my oldest turns ten before we leave. Hubby works for the fed gov't, and to my surprise and delight the govt discount is being offered during our spring break! Whoo hoo, Dolphin here we come! :Pinkbounc

Tracie ~ 81$ is a great rate for this resort... Have a fantastic time in the "Magic". :earsgirl:

Laurabelle ~ We are also going during our spring break. Our break here is the first week of March though. This will be our 5th. trip... We are also addicted to the land of the mouse :earsboy:

Harleyquinn ~ Congrats on your wedding and honeymoon trip :)

Mouseteacher and Debbie ~ Hope you are both on the mend and feeling better today.:D

Mom2aprincess ~ I am also in the same fix for our last night. I booked Feb. 29-March 9 not realizing we need to check out on the 10th. So far no luck booking the night of March 9th. its all sold out.

Dreamflight ~ If the Dolphin is sold out on March 9th. Are platinum members guaranteed a room ? What kind of a rate ? Would I have to pay full rack rate instead of a govt. rate? Thanks for any suggestions you might have.... :wave2:

Have a great Tuesday everyone

To all those headed to the World and S/D soon or un the near future - have a magical trip!

MomPoppins~ Thanks for asking about my nuisance cold. It is still hanging in there.

PLATINUM MEMBERS=NO BLACK-OUTS~SO...a ROOM will ALWAYS be available for you, at the BEST AVAILABLE RATE! I have stayed in a SW RESORT during a "sold-out" period, and never experienced any problem with my rate (it never changed). It's one of the BEST perks of being a PLAT. SPG member!::yes::

mouseteacher~hope you are feeling better soon. :sunny:

Kimmar~HI!!

zurgswife~what to say? I feel terrible for you and DD. Clinical depression is a SERIOUS affliction, and can lead to the manifestation of painful "physical" ailments, as it has with your daughter. I pray you find the best medical assistance available, and your DD receives the help she deserves. My heart goes out to you both (and your entire family). Keep the LOVE free-flowing, and let her know you are there...and support her 100% (+). Keep me apprised of her progress, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help. :umbrella: The sunshine is just around the corner. You are all in my prayers.

Hi,
Due to all of the wonderful information on this board I am going to stay 3 nights at the Swan, teacher rate in March before attending a reading conference in Orlando.
Booked a balcony room and asked for a fireworks view. Joined Starwood, ect. Thank you for all the wonderful information that this group has given.
Now the question. I know that one of you has been to the Peabody Hotel. That is where I'll be for 4 nights due to the conferece. Please tell me about the Peabody. Tell all! Is close to Seasons 52? Any other special places to eat or be entertained?
Thank you for your help.
Byrd

I have to agree my principal is the best! Orlando for a reading conference!!

Is it safe to assume that there will be transportation after MNSSHP to the Swan? It makes sense to me that there would be - but I just can't find the info anywhere.

Thanks all!

Hey guys - I'm BACCCCK!!!!

5 days in Atlanta - a few days of a break - then Cincy last weekend.

Guess what - we didn't end up eating at anywhere fancy in Cincy- bummer. We ended up at Steak and Shake one night (which was great) - I love their chicken melt sandwich. The other day we had shrimp cocktail, cheese/crackers, fruit etc on our boat trip so we made supper out of that! We stayed at a Fairfield in Merrillville IN on the way down - clean, decent but only double beds. When your 10 year old sleeps sideways with her feet in your kidneys its tough! The Hampton Inn in Covington KY for the fest was very nice. Everyone was friendly, hotel was spotless & comfy. We even used our free night coupons from our disastrous stay in Champaign IL - I was amazed they let us during a special event. One night at the Fairfield on the way home in Joliet IL - room was tons bigger than the one in Merrillville and had Queen beds and we even had a fridge/micro for some reason. That was stay #2 for Fairfield on my Visa so double points for 2nd stay. Two more nites this weekend in Dubuque - someday I will find something to redeem those Marriott points for! I'd like to build up enough for a 5 day stay somewhere.

I will try by the end of the week to upload a few photos to sony so I can show you. I did a quick print at WM with the memory card tonite so DD could put some in her school report.

Zurgs - sending a prayer for DD.

MomP - sending a grateful thank-you that your DD is holding her own!

Byrd- DF should be able to fill you in on Peabody when she comes online.

So, to stay on topic, I gather we do not have the week finalized for our trip next year? I'm hoping it ends up somewhere during my stay - that would be great - but if not - I know you guys will have a great time!!!!! If it is during that time, maybe they will let you count the 10 or 12 nites we are staying as the quota you need!

We have been to MNSSHP the last 4 years and yes the buses run for 1 hour after Park closing. We are always in the very last group out of Park because we LOVE to enjoy as long as possible. WE ARE ON VACATION. HAHA. So do not worry just enjoy the MAGIC!!

Oh I almost forgot we stay at Dolphin or Swan.

Thanks for the info! Enjoy your trip - it's coming up fast!

Hey DF - by best available rate you mean you can always get a room, but you may have to pay more than you would if rooms were open (i.e. all teacher/nurse rates are booked)- right?

zurgswife just checking to let you know your family is in my prayers {{hugs}}

Hello, Byrd~ We stay at the Orlando Peabody each summer prior to beginning our extended sojourn. We LOVE the property, and the DUCK MARCH is spectacular! ::yes:: Seasons 52 is incredible, but so are the restaurants INSIDE the Peabody. Please, take a peek at their marvelous website (www.peabodyorlando.com) and check-out the dining establishments available for you to enjoy. From the B-Line Diner, to Capriccio's and of course...."DUX", you will experience a wonderfully memorable time. The fare at these locations is "astounding", with obvious effort going into each dish. Peruse the descriptions under DINING on the VACATION GUEST area, and you'll be ready to make your reservations for breakfast, lunch AND Dinner...without ever having to leave the Hotel. ::yes:: We are looking forward to another wonderful stay in 2004! Hope this helps you.

Robmax~That would be correct, (accordingly to policy) although this has not happened to me in the past. Availability is never an issue for a PLAT. SPG member. Discounted rooms? Perhaps not. :smooth:

:wave2: Enjoy the FRESH, NEW WEEK!

:boat: Just floating on in to say hello! :wave2: Still battling a pesky cold - Debbie, are we cyber sympatico?!

jgates~ welcome back to our humble sorority house.

Byrd~ Lucky you having a conference in Orlando! I'm still waiting for that to happen to me. You will love your Swan stay - I know we did.

zurgswife~ How are things going?

Thanks again for taking the time Dreamflight to answer, I know as time gets closer I will have more questions.
Sush as about how far from the Swan to the Peabody? Is it a bad drive. My husband can't believe I'm driving. We don't even have an interstate in our county.
Thanks for your help.
Byrd

Mouseteacher part of the reason I get to go is I was awarded a grant that is funding the conference part. In this case the extra time paid off. Also got alot of technology for the school.

:teacher:

*waving* I have been here--> and there<----... but no time to post!* cold still hanging on, but life still goes on w/o taking another day off.

Some strange force kept on pulling me back to the boards to check for new issues of the Delswife saga! All this, while learning a new report card program with report cards being due by Friday! YIKES! So far we're not real happy using IGPro... and much prefer the old file maker pro program we have been using. If anyone has any opinion either way, please PM me!

Thank you for the information on the king room! Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking about telling "our" newlywed. I just can't seem to forget that post and its quick absence to the boards!

May everyone stay healthy and wise!
Debbie

PS Love ya, Mean it!

Just taking a moment to post, in the midst of all my writing. PD to zwife and family. It can be treated, hang in there. No time for colds here, so here's hoping I don't get one! Keep them out east, please!
My report cards are due Friday too, but can't help you Deb, sorry. To all going to wdw soon....have a great trip.
I will be lurking, as a diversion, now and then!

Ahhh, Bryd~To have such a small & quaint county (no interstate!). Truly, A treasure in itself. ~Please...feel free to ask anything/everything you wish. The drive from the Peabody to the Swan and Vice-versa is simple. If you desire, I could PM you the exact directions (to/from). Or, you may simply ask of the concierge at either location, and they will be more than happy to print and explain the directions in person. Isn't it wonderful what we women can achieve when we WANT to? You'll be FINE driving in Orlando. Everything is clearly marked and easy to see/find. Just remember...don't panic. You'll do great! :goodvibes
