On topic: Location of shooting stars: Look up and you will see the shooting stars as soon as you walk through the front door at the Dolphin.

WW52 Bill ~ I have not figured out the www.live365.com I went to the site and put in Disney on the search and did not see anything that looked right. Do you have any tips for me to get to the right station ? Thanks :D

what a cutie pie :)

Mom Poppins, are you getting Florida Project Radio or Mouse World Radio as choices? those are the two stations I listen to most often....

Live365:
When I put Disney in the area that says "Find stations that Play...", I get 53 results. Many look to be stations that just play a few Disney songs among a wider variety, but many are pure Disney.

The "gold" buttoned stations are premium stations - you only get those if you pay for your subscription. I think MouseWorld is a "pay" station.

Florida Project radio is a free one (yellow buttons). It's the 9th one done on my list. These lists can be sorted by any of the columns just by clicking on the column title.

You do have to register to use live365, even though there is no charge. Also, the first time you use it, it will install some software - or I think it asks you if you want to use a multimedia player like RealOne.

Click on the station and things should start to happen. But maybe you have to sign up first - see the login in box near the top right? That has a sign up option.

I hope this helps. I see TourGuide Mike has a station now also. I'll have to check that out when I get home - if I can steal some computer time that is.

Also - great pictures, especially of Kirk Jr.

It's working Bill! Thanks so much for the step by step instructions :)

MOM POPPINS~Adorable Pictures! Made my day. :)

ww52~I have trouble ever picturing you as a "SNOB" (irregardless of the reasoning)! What kind things you posted to Mom Poppins (concerning Baby Kirk). You are DEFINITELY one of US...and I FEEL as if we ALL KNOW ONE ANOTHER~;)

Have a GREAT WEEKEND. TGIF...Ahhhh (SLEEP-IN TOMORROW!)

Back from a very long day planning the convention. I am still scratching my head trying to figure out how I became (and the other 8 principals with me) a convention planner --- I thought I was an educator! Well, it's the nature of Catholic education. We do just about anything that needs to be done when asked by the "boss".

disnurse~ Thanks for the update on the Club floor. I am not sure about getting it though since the convention will be in town and the Sheraton is the NCEA headquarters. Also, the Boston Marathon starts the following Monday and I'm sure many will come into Boston early. It will be a busy 2 weeks for the city.

ww52~ We don't think of ourselves as strangers in the truest sense of the word here on this thread. I hope you enjoy your trip to Boston albeit a short one and a business trip. We have a beautiful city - have you been here before?

ozzie~ I hear ya again - I could use a S/D vaca RIGHT NOW!!

Hi. I have two questions:

First, do the Swan and Dolphin still offer a special rate on the night of your birthday, and if so, what is it?

Second, has anyone had success using the 50% off rack rate certificates that you get with your Starwood Amex at the Swan or Dolphin?

Thanks!

Mouseteacher - yes, our whole family was in Boston last year (2002) for I think three nights. We loved it - stayed at the Marriot Longwharf; did the Freedom Trail, went to Mass at the oldest Catholic Church in Boston (can't remember the name); ate in the Italian section and also on the wharf; saw the Blessed Virgin parade in the Italian section, the boys saw a game at Fenway (I went with them to see the area and to hear the street vendors say "get yer skaw-cahds!", saw (and ate at) the original Cheers, then drank at the Cheers mock up which I think was at Quincy Market. Stopped there every day (Quincy Market, not Cheers.) After the three days, we hated to leave, but we were on our way to Bermuda via the Norvegian Majesty. Our only cruise so far, and we all had a fantastic time. Combining Boston, the cruise, and Bermuda made it feel like three vacations in one. Boston is now our second favorite city and we will be back. Norwegian also does a cruise from Boston up to the St. Lawrence Seaway over to Quebec City and Montreal (which we visited many years ago). We will probably do that trip one year.

Mom Poppins - glad you got live365 going. I can't imagine any Disney addict going without it. Next best thing to being there, until they come out with some type of virtual reality software that puts you right into the "World".

DF99 - I missed your "zero-entry" joke; you have a real "dry" sense of humor! (Ouch.)

Have a great weekend everyone,
Bill

Bill~ :D Italian section=North End. Sounds like you had a great stay in our city.

I wholeheartedly agree about DF and her commitment to making this thread a wonderful place to be - she is the leader of our club!

I thought I had the most horrible no good very bad day, today... it topped Tuesday. What is in the air? I called home, found out my daughter's car was wrecked. She is fine, she wasn't even IN the car! An idiot (sorry I am peeved right now) driving through the HS parking lot at 45 rammed the car next to hers, as she was about to unlock her door! she was left with about 10 inches of space between her and the truck next to her. Front of her car got the impact, thank God it wasn't her body that got it. SOOO my bad day, was made worse, then again it was put into perspective. She needs her car to get from HS to work to college, this was the end of her first week of work! A REAL JOB! Looks like I will be driving a rental next week, as she isn't old enough to and DH's car is a company car/truck (changes nightly), so she can't drive that, either.

OK.. I feel better now!

Zurg's wife, I hope your DD gets over her sickness! I am sure the weekend will help her, rather than trying to get a full day of school in. Coming back from being sick is tough on the body!

Shamrock>> I wish I could help you. Perhaps one of the experts will know your answer!

baby kirk is beautiful! As are your other children! What precious photos!

*handing ozzie a bottle of wine* I am ready to drink with you! I am actually going to grab a bottle of wine, instead of just type it, too! Glad your open houses are over with. Three schools? How do you keep your schedule straight?

I have not been to Boston since I was a "little hockey fan"... I am enjoying hearing about the different areas!

disbug/madge>> Enjoy your trips to the S/D! Make sure you warn them that we're talking of a get together! :)

How many days on my countdown? Is there a button to make it speed up? Have a great weekend! (checking the game schedule, next, on the way to the bottle of wine)

Debbie

If using the term "Italian Section" rather than North end is considered not appropriate, I apologize. In Chicago we still use ethnic descriptions for certain neighborhoods (Chinatown, Little Italy, Greek Town). I knew the area was referred to as the North End, but it was the ethnic flavor that made it memorable, especially the Blessed Virgin procession, with people pinning money on the banner. Also walking to an Italian bakery after Mass for pastries (very crowded I might add - both church and the bakery). It reminded my wife and I of how it was when we were kids - always within walking distance of everything important. Now we drive just about everywhere.

Boston is truly a great city, and of all the places I've been to on vacation and business, it's the only place I could see myself happily living in besides sweet home Chicago.

shamrock - I wasn't able to use the birthday rate in May. They said the promotion ended when WDW stopped celebrating Walt's 100th birthday. I think I talked to every rep. at S/D and Starwood. I have not seen it advertised. (although - a quick call to the Swan/Dolphin 800 # will confirm it)

I have not used the 50% coupon, but have inquired about the A/P rate which is also 50% off. It's better than nothing but I think the quote I received was around $190. Are you signed up on the SPG website? How about the Swan/Dolphin site? There was a recipe rate a few months ago.

I'll pop in later to catch up with the rest of you........but by the looks of things, I think we can all agree TGIF :D

Didn't get to go.... Oh, well. Maybe next year.
Mompoppings, just catching up... loved your family photos. Baby Kirk is your twin don't you think? I'm going to enjoy reading as your anticipation grows leading up to your big trip! Have a good week!

Hello Mouseteacher! I'm home playing full time mom for the past several days! I LOVE it . But, my days fly by! Have time to wave to the room before giving DD2 her last bottle for the day.

DF99! I still haven't received my pin. Chomping my fingernails! Can't wait! Wouldn't it be great if they had a Mouseteacher, #1HM, etal pins? I am working on "stuff" for us. Have a coffee mug designed. Will see if I can post. I have several "bug" pins from A bugs life. So, I'm covered!:p

Madge! You lucky thing! I was one of the ones who got the "sorry, your order has been cancelled" for that Office Max personal DVD player. BooHoo! Glad for you though.

Sorry everyone, I can't think of anything "on topic"... other than, the Swan has really put some thought into it's outlets. There is a lamp on the end table and a lamp on the dresser, both of which have dual outlets for plugging in battery chargers, cell phones, what have you! Very convenient.

I'll believe it when I see it, LOL...in order to get the free shipping, I had it shipped to my brother's house. He's shipping it to me. I fibbed and told him we are leaving sooner than we really are, just so he'll get it here in time!

they are coming down in price all the time--I saw one for $150 this week, and another on amazon for $169. check the boards at www.fatwallet.com they are really on top of the electronic deals.

on topic: I wonder if I need an adapter to use this DVD player at the Dolphin :)

Ha, I was asleep!!!

Seriously, for those of you who think I am nuts!!! (I am), zero entry in a pool is so it is handi-cap accessible if I am describing it correctly. So consequently, the pools are NOT accessible. This was questioned on another thread.

But maybe I could help pay for my room if I stood near the pool and sold tickets to get in?:)

Given the choice of Swan or Dolphin Club level with 2 pre-Ks which would you pick and why?

 A good morning to the room!

Bill~ Your description of the No. End was not inappropriate at all b/c it is the Italian section of Boston. I just wasn't sure if you knew what we Bostonians call it. I guess I was trying to be informative. :D

alexdan~ Either CL should be fine - there is relatively little difference in the 2 except the Swan has 2 wonderful CM in Thabo and MamaT. They have been given lots of kudos from those of us who have had the privilege to meet them.

Disbug~ so glad to hear from you. Can't wait for your reports from the inside - I'm really needing a S/D fix!

jgates ~ sounds like plan - selling tickets LOL! Need an assistant?

;)

Thank goodness it's Saturday. We have our annual neighborhood block party this afternoon and it's a gorgeous summer-like day. Our town is having a Homecoming Festival at our beautiful lake which is in the center of town - a great day for that event, too.

alexedan~ I have to agree with Mouseteacher... she is usually right on the mark! I have only used Club level at the Swan and it was wonderful for my family. But Mama T and Thabo are the main attraction! The Dolphin seems like it would be more themed for children to me, and Dreamfllight99 loves it... So really I don't think you can go wrong. The next stay we are going to the Dolphin so we'll be able to better compare.. Enjoy planning your trip!

Good morning, to the Sorority house (and our brothers, too, if they're up and at em'!)

Loubon! I am so glad we met and were able to "draw" you over from the DVC thread. What a gift you are! And it all started with our desire to start a little sorority!

Mouseteacher! Enjoy your lovely day and block party... these are the days we remember, when the present becomes the past!

Madge, thanks for the link to fat wallet! Maybe I can find DD15 a great Xmas gift yet! You and I are next... can you wait? I am not packed and will probably start "freaking" this next week! :p

Good morning, mompopns, #1HM, oz-E, and all who are out there enjoying the weekend! Are you back from San Fran, Lauren? I still wonder what happened to hookedup? (For those who don't know, she is the one who designed our avatar!)

Good morning everyone!

Disbug's on topic needs to be repeated! I had forgotten all about that, but when we did have to plug things in, and we did often, it was so nice to have a counter to lay the item on, and plug it in where you wanted it, not where you were able to!

I hope everyone has a lovely day!
Debbie
