NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

...I checked out that link you posted, and I LMAO!!! It's hee-lah-ree-us!!

This past weekend I went to the spg site and put in my special requests, but never received notification back. Do you always get an email back. I was also thinking of emailing swan with requests Has anyone ever done this. I need email address. Leaving in 2 day and getting a little nervous as usual. I always seem to panic from now until we leave the house for the airport. My family is so used it by now, the laugh.

Sorry to be a pest, but I just had another thought - what is the name of the restaurant at swan/dolphin that has a buffet. Does anyone know the cost. We have 100.00 in food credit at swan and I was thinking of using it there. I don't think my boys would like to other fancy restaurants except fountain and tubbies.

luvdisney ~ the buffet at the Swan is Gulliver's - it is a character meal. You do get a response to e mails but it takes a while. I e mailed a question a few days before we left and the response came while we were gone. Please remember that the e mail response to requests is a standard answer - "We received your request but not guaranteed" something like that. :) OOPs - just reread your post - the response I'm talking about on requests was made through the swandolphin website. The question I asked was through spg website. Don't worry - just ask upon check-in.

disbug ~ I have XP but I had my pics on a CD ROm then uploaded them to imagestation and that works. Could you put your pics on a CD first?

hooked-up ~ What a marvelously rich experience to see our country! And, as you wrote about the S/D I was walking with you in my mind - transporting me back--- ahhhhhhh! Your room sounds wonderful! Is your balcony in the black part of the triangle that faces the Dolphin? Keep posting - love it!

KelliR ~ Thanks for the info on the charms. I only bought one charm b/c I was sure I could get a better price elsewhere. I figured one charm from WDW would be my gift each time I go. Can you put a charm on yourself? Is it easy to do?

BUT -WHOA -you - a YANKEES fan--- ACK  Me - a Red Sox fan LOL ;) Do we have a rivalry??? hehehe But you do have our beloved Drew!

Hey, everyone, check out the DIS yearbook thread on the CB and you'll see lovingthe mouse. Really cute!

Hockeymom - you're in the DIS Yearbook - check it out!

I have the e-mail saved from the recipe club--I wasn't planning on using it....but, this morning I got an e-mail from SWA that airfare from Nashville is CHEAP ($80 RT) and I have a flight credit burning a hole in my pocket. Thinking seriously about using it and hopping down to the S/D for Labor Day weekend with DH....alone :)

what is/is not included with the food credit? can you use it at the outside bars? thinking a weekend of the pool, room service, and hanging out at the Boardwalk would be wonderful!

We have a family trip planned for late September, so we probably wouldn't do any parks, unless we decide to buy APs.....

can you tell I just got my tax check? LOL.....

is this a crazy idea?

Madge.....if you are thinking about a Labor Day trip, forget about the recipe club rate...S/D has a special $99 rate for Labor Day. What a wonderful idea! Wish I could go at that time..it is a great special. However, to answer your question....any place at S/D that serves food/beverages honors your recipe club rate. (room service, tubbi's, Shula's, bars, etc)

Ozziewags: With the recipe rate, do you just charge the food to your room and then the $50 credit will take care of it? Or do you have to tell the restaurant that you want to use your food credit?
Thank you for all of your help!!!

madge ~ Oh, do go!!! How can you pass up such terrific rates for the resort and airfare?! DH and I spent a wonderful 5 days at the Swan - spent a lot of time at the resort and really enjoyed our getaway! I know you will, too. I wish I lived closer like you to get great airfares and not so much time in the air. I'd certainly go more often!

snwwhite...yes, you just charge your food/bev. to your room and it comes off your credit at check out. You will be able to see it on your online statement from your tv. You do not have to tell the restaurant you are on the food credit rate.

*laughing* I have a table? *waving to Thabo* That's it, no matter what.. I NEED TO GO BACK! After all, I do have a table, eh?

I am so glad your trip turned out ok, hookedup! What a way to see the country! Sounds like its only getting better, though. 12th floor Swan? You're royalty! Looking forward to hearing all your stories from the world!

Madge>> GO!!! Sounds like that 400 dollars is a great start to a parents only getaway!

Mouseteacher>> Thank you for the heads up on the yearbook! I can't believe my name is there! It's beautiful! :)

Still no news on the pinkslips. Tomorrow the school will be open so you know where I will be!

*waving to everyone in the room*

Debbie ~ Is there still a chance you could get a call back after the school year begins? I'm still praying and sprinkling PD for you!

I agree with you about NEEDING (not wanting) to go back to the Swan!!! and I've only been back a week.

There is a very good chance I could be called back AFTER the school year begins. 1. We start first in the district. Being that we're Edsion, we make our own calendar (with all those extra days in there!). 2. Last year there were people called back in October. Aug-Oct there were huge class sizes due to too many layoffs, and somehow the admin thought they (the class sizes) would go away on their own?! Staffing has not always been done in a timely matter. The theory is, if we start first, we'll be able to staff completely, FIRST. Meanwhile, the closer we get to Monday, the more in a daze I seem to feel! I do wish I could enjoy this last week off! Last year I was in Europe during this time. My call back was on the answering machine and it was left just two days before we started back to school.

I worked in our local *very small* district for seven years. It is so different working in a city! I look at it this way, though, the kids in Flint NEED me! Or maybe its I need them. Something like that! :)

Thank you for the continueing prayers and PD, everyone! You will hear when I have more information!

I saw that after I asked about the recipe club, LOL :) I am slowly working on DH.....when I told him we didn't really need to go to the parks, just hang out at the pool and enjoy some cold beverages, then hang out at the Boardwalk...that kind of perked him right up :) :) then he whined about not seeing Off Kilter or eating fish & chips in England

I have to crunch the numbers and see how much wiggle room I have from my "real" vacation budget. If I thought I could get a CL upgrade (with Gold Status) then I know that DH would be more agreeable because we would get some free food out of the deal, LOL!

I'll keep you posted!

Is there any way to book the Labor Day special online?

hookedup~ your room sounds great! I hope you have a wonderful vacation. Keep us updated!!

hockeymom~still keeping my fingers crossed for you.

WOW:eek: I just noticed my counter is under the 10 day mark!!! Yippee!! (dancing around the room like a fool)

:bounce: judirain _ Don't you just love the single-digit dance and excitement! I'm feeling it for you, too!

We, here in the Boston area, have been experiencing Florida-like weather for the past 6 days - extremely humid, tropical downpours and thunderstorms. It makes me feel as if I'm still at the Swan! Everyone else is grumbling about the humidity.

SATURDAY, JULY 26th
DD14 and I leave Jacksonville after loading all the luggage, cooler, etc.. into our van. Can still see out the rear window (barely!) "Hugs & Kisses! Bye, Bye, See-you-soons" (to DH, DD8, and DD2 who will join us tomorrow) and off we go! Quick stop in St. Augustine for official Disney souvenirs at the Disney Character Warehouse. Find some great "Pirates of the Carribean" Pirate spyglass/periscopes. Everyone must have one (for 69 cents)! Just past St. Augustine, potholes in I-95 South slow us down and adds about an hour to our journey. But, hey, we're going to Disney World! (We have gas, and we had a potty break!) Raining off and on, but I don't remember noticing!

We get to the "Glorious Disney World Arch" and I start whistling. DD14 has to put on her headphones and shake her head. "Mom you ARE pitiful!" she says with a smile. We get to the Swan and John our "first" luggage handler gets everything out and on a cart while we check in. Our room is ready and up we go. But, now it's not John, it's someone else! Oops! After unloading all the luggage, we go back down to head off to Mass at Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine (and to find John to give him his tip!) Of course, John has now gone home in the space of what, 20 minutes? All right, John, I owe you one (good excuse for going back soon!) A side note: Okay, did everyone catch that? The valet actually unloads your luggage, puts it on a cart and parks your car. Then a bellman brings the luggage to your room. Just wanted everyone to be ready for the "double-tip"! Which, I don't mind... just wasn't prepared for!

Stopped off at the Front Desk to leave Mouseteacher her name tag made by "moi"! At first they were confused since I didn't have her last name, but I said if these are filed alphabetically, I'm sure "M" will do!

After Mass we explored the Shrine's lovely gift shop, and then did a drive-through for Chick-fil-A sandwichs (I'm addicted to those things) And now drum-roll, we walk into the Royal Beach Club lounge for the first time. It is beautiful! The gentleman at the desk has silver hair and is very quiet, but has a nice smile! We enjoyed all of the crudites offered and some hot wonton hors doeuvres. Didn't stay too long. Just enough to sample everything and enjoy the view.

Our room awaits... we must unpack! I only unpack enough for 5 days and 4 nights. I use the drawer between the bed for all the baby's formula, diapers, anything she might need. Set up a battery charging station at the bureau (the lamp has an outlet on it, cool!) and a cell phone/camcorder charging station at the night stand. Leave all the snacks in a small suitcase on top of the bureau for snack attacks! We are ready! See you tomorrow!

mouseteacher~ We are having the same weather here in Northern New Jersey.

Disbug~ I am hooked. Looking forward to part 2:)

disbug~ When I went to ask about my "present", I cleared my throat a couple of times and said to the CM "I know this is going to sound funny but just bear with me. A friend left me something under the name "Mouseteacher"." I believe I was stumbling my words a bit. :) The CM I was speaking to smiled and said, " Yes, that was a funny name but I filed it back here under M." She was the CM that described you. Another CM was nearby smiling also - she happened to be Ana the CM that checked us in and upgraded us to the Jr. Suite. So, I had the opportunity to profusely thank her and let her know how magical she made our stay. She seemed quite pleased. I'm sure they were wondering what strange planet we must come from! Funny thing - my last name does begin with M.

Keep the reports coming - love it!!
