NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Disbug, Your trip reports are great! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the Swan! Your DD's are lucky to have such a great mom!

Mouseteacher, I'm so glad you found the Italian Charm Braclets and purchaced one! I'm getting one in Dec!

Hockeymom, Sending pixie dust that you get a call back. Keep the faith!

I've been away on a family vacation to Cape Cod! Had a great time visiting with my DS and his GF, along with DH and DD! Plus I celebrated a birthday while there! ;) Had a GREAT time in North Truro!

Has anyone heard from DF?

Muffy

Happy Birthday Muffy!! Sounds like you are having a great time out on the Cape!

Disbug>> keep those reports coming! As long as someone is always on vacation, or giving trip reports, none of us have left, right?

Thanks again for all of the PD.... It's cutting it close here, but I still have faith!

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are many CMs at the Swan/Dolphin that are readers of this thread! They're probably the only people who can put faces with the names! *waving to all of "our" favorite CMs!*

Debbie

Happy Birthday, Muffy!

Thank you again for answering all my questions about the charm bracelets. I bought my starter and charm in Italy Pavilion. I did see them at the gift shop in the CR but the CMs were busy and we had a PS for Cali Grille so I couldn't wait.

N. Truro is a beautiful and still a true Cape feel - glad you enjoyed your visit.

DF is either cruisin' or in Key West - ya think???
We haven't heard form MomPoppins in while with updates on her precious baby.

I agree with Debbie - as long as we have reports from the World and the S/D we are happy campers. I hope some CMs do read the Board so they can know how magical they make our stay. :)

Pkdcoaster ~ I know that feeling - the last 24 hours really drag. And why is it that once in WDW the days seem to zoom by - I always say I wish I could slow time down when I'm there. :)

Good morning!
I am up and dh & ds are still passed out in bed. I went down the the lounge and grabbed some coffee and danishes and some fruit to munch on while I type. I was greeted by the warm and welcoming Mama T - boy is she great! What a doll!!

Anyway, yesterday was really fun. We got kinda a late start. Woke up about 15 mins to 10 and scambled over to the lounge to get some coffee and food to take back to our room. We were moving slow - still on Calif time I guess. We thought we'd go to Blizzard Beach but by the time we were downstairs 11ish - the park was too full and we couldn't go. We walked over to the pool instead a proceeded to have a good time at the Grotto pool - which was not too crowded and felt very nice indeed.
Suddenly my dh said "why dont we go to a park this afternoon?" Which was a surprise to me since we had planned on our first day being a non park day and just going to a waterpark. So we thought Epcot would be good. I then said "I want to have lunch at Le Cellier" so I hopped out of the pool and used the house phone to call the concierge desk, they booked us a PS at LC for a late lunch 2:45!
We had a great lunch and a fabulous afternoon and evening at Epcot. We got to do Mission Space (all I can say is WOW) some other rides and enjoyed Illuminations too.

We had room service dessert to end the evening! A magical day indeed!!! Today I am not sure what we are going to do - we have reservations at CRT for dinner so I guess MK.

Ozzie - our room is right across from the CL and is very nice. I don't know what category it is but it has a balcony & king bed, faces the Dolphin and it has a very large vanity and closet area.

I'll post more later! TTFN all!

thanks for the great reports.
It helps get the rest of us in the mood!
hope you are having a great time!

mouseteacher and hockeymom,
thanks for all of your info!
we really appreciate it!

please, tell me that someone knows the points amount for an upgrade to CL.....I remember seeing it a long time ago, but it might have been on the thread that was before this one.

I know that people are charged different amounts, does anyone know the "official line" on this?

thanks!

I thought from these boards that none of the rooms on cl level had balconies but you say that you are right across from the club and have one -- is it the kind that you can walk out on?

Thanks.

firstmickey ~ You are most welcome - we all help each other here.

madge - conflicting reports on who gets charged what - I've read 1000 and 1500 points. I believe on the web site is says 1000. Confusing!

Thanks to everyone for posting your fun in the world. I especially want to congratulate Mouseteacher on her SWEET "Suite" upgrade.

For my quick trip at the end of the month, we are staying at the Sheraton Safari, Poly and VWL. I probably would've booked the Swan for cash and points, but that deal came up after I booked 2 free nights at the Safari. DS (6) is excited to stay there........after I showed him the video from the spg site. I'm using DVC points for the rest. (some mine, some rented from a Dis'er who needed to sell some Non-DVC resort pts. - hence the 1 night at the poly, lagoon view) Now my DD and older DS both said they want to come. SWA has a great sale, but the tix are sold out for the return portion. I'll keep looking though...........so any extra pixie dust that you might have is appreciated. In the end, I'll probably take my DD (13) since DS (14) will most likely have to stay home for high school soccer practice. He'll live though.....as he was the lucky one who went to Perdido Beach with my sister and her family for 10 days at the beginning of July.

In keeping with the good luck on this thread, I decided to email a request for a suite upgrade. I know I'll at least get an upgrade from business class, city view with the SPG gold. I got a reply back that said it is not guaranteed but to ask at check-in. Hey......you never know.

Hockeymom - I hope you get the call. Can you substitute there if they don't make the decision right away?

Re: Charms - my daughter has two bracelets started. I'm sure I'll be purchasing some type of Disney one when we are there.

Mom Poppins......I forgot to mention I loved your vacation photos. Also, your treatment by that OB makes my blood boil. I'm glad your Dr. advocated for you.

You're very welcome, firstmickey! I was glad I was able to help in some way! These boards have taught me tons of information!

Hookedup>> Keep those posts coming! Glad you are completely enjoying your stay! Enjoy a chocolate croissant for us! I didn't realize any CL rooms had balconies! So glad you have one of "everything"!

PDKoaster>> You're almost ready to leave! Pack the bandaids and moleskin! Don't forget these *throws in sunblock and sunglasses* and have a wonderful time!

We have carpet cleaners coming today. That should keep me occupied for awhile and keep me from stressing out so badly!

*room wave*
Debbie

This is a silly question, but does the Dolphin have turn down service for the entire hotel or just a select section of rooms?

I know turndown service is normal for CL rooms, but I am almost positive that you can request it for any room and it will be graciously done. I know I don't NEED turndown service, but it is so nice to come back from our nightly parks excursion or dinner and have our room turned down and looking perfect, plus fresh towels in the bath! The chocolate on the pillows (or in our case in Mickey's hockey stick hand) is a plus! My DS loved the weather report, although as you know, Florida weather in the summer almost always says "chance of thunderstorms". LOL :)

Debbie

The phone rang today. I jumped as always. It was our secretary from my school. She wanted to confirm my address,(seems she thought I lived too far from work! LOL)to send out the "welcome back-hope you had a great summer-this is our schedule for the first week" letter. Officially, I am not called back by the administration, but unofficially, our principal is concerned that the district won't call back in time for staffing for our school and he is sending the letters to four of us who weren't in the tenure call back. The secretary thought she had heard that the last call back covered everyone under tenure. Anyone not tenure can be called out of order, seniority doesn't matter. This is to my advantage! I know my principal wants me, he sees a need for more staff to be there than what was left after the layoffs... WOO HOOOO!

So, officially I still don't have a call back, but unofficially I must be there on Wednesday morning! (and here I thought it was Monday morning! I get to enjoy a few more days of vacation!) :):):)

Thank you for the prayers and PD! A few more sprinkles and I think I will be all set! I don't think I could have gotten through this without everyone here on this thread! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thinking happy thoughts and saying a thank you prayer!!
Debbie

WoooHooooooo!!!!!!!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
for you, Debbie!

But I will keep P and PD coming until its official.
P.S. - Smart principal you have --- ;) :D

Wake up to a beautiful day, wonderful view. Cannot lay in bed one more minute. Have to jump up :Pinkbounc and pinch myself. DD14 is trying to contain herself behind her closed eyelids. I can't wait so I head over to the CL to meet the incomparable Mama T and Thabo. As we enter, we are first greeted by Thabo and after just a few moments a gracious woman comes up and introduces herself as Mama T. I had imagined her older for some reason and would have never guessed who she was! In my mind she must be like a grandmother since she was so kind... Before I know it we are hugging and acting like old friends... that is the MAGIC she has for us. When I send greetings from the DIS, she is full of stories about everyone and returns greetings  to all her old friends on the DIS. She calls us "You Kids!

I DID it... I had a chocolate croissant and it IS all that! You cannot have more than one, they are so rich and tasty with a cup of that fresh brewed coffee. It was divine. The morning offerings included anything you could think of for a breakfast buffet, just short of hot items (like eggs, bacon, etc..). There were regular croissants, assorted danish (Cheese, apple, cherry, pecan), pecan sticky buns, fresh baked muffins (bluebery, bran, apple), english muffins, bagels, cinnamon toast, assorted cereals, and yogurts, all types of milk, (chocolate, skim, 2%), real honest-to-goodness fresh squeezed orange juice, apple juice, fresh fruit trays, hot tea, hot coffee (with flavored syrups like irish cream and hazel nut you can add if desired). Whew! And in the center of the table, a beautiful fresh flower arrangement, redolant with the fragrance of lilies! I enjoy watching the dew dry off the outside of the CL windows while chatting with Mama T and Thabo and munching my pastries! (Side note: OzzieWags~ Did you know, Thabo wants to become a photographer one day? Cool, huh! I hope he gets good so we can ask him stuff!

DD14 wanders in for a quick bite and I hurry her along because we have places to go and "deliveries" to make!

We are headed for the WL and VWL to drop off 3 silk flower arrangements and a giant bottle (I'm talking 2 to 3 ft high) of "Moosehead Beer" filled with popcorn and topped with a Tigger mylar ballon-on-a-stick that I have pushed through the top to make it look like he is standing on the bottle cap... He has a real feather hanging from his ear and is holding a "Welcome" banner!

The arrangements are real-looking pastel silk and match the wildflowers found around the WL and are situated in a light blue pail with painted ladybugs and butterflies all around. In the center is a totem pole with the WL logo on it, and at the top of the totem pole is a Mickey Head antenna ball. Pine sprigs and pine cone rosettes are added for that final "outdoorsy" feel. They turned out really nice. When I get to the WL, the CM's at the Front Desk ask if I would sell these and I say "No, they are gifts for family who will be checking in today..." But, I express my thanks for their kind words and promise to give it some thought!

(*Keep in mind Mouseteacher, I am running around with a lime green mickey mouse head nametag similar to yours which says "DISBUG" on it, hoping I'll run into you and other fellow DISers!)

We head out before I remember I'm supposed to find out something about the WL marina. So, I make a "UE" and smile sheepishly at the Gate Guard who laughs and waves me through. I grab all the literature I need, ask a few questions and we're off to Lunch! (Side Note: The Family Plan at the Marinas is a really good deal for 5 people. $199 for length of stay. Check it out! We LOVED it!)

I'm in the mood for Beaches and Cream and so is my ever-patient DD14 who cannot believe I am doing all this! We are in luck... although groups are still waiting to be seated inside, there is room for 2 at the counter and we are seated right away. I have my Connections Voucher ready and we order: a grilled chicken sandwich on a whole grain bun, home-made onion rings on the side, a coke, and the piece-de-resistance.... a banana split! If you have not had one from Beaches and Cream, GO! Order one! It will not disappoint!

At this point I see a fly hovering and I am determined not to share my banana split with him, so I pick up a menu to give him the quick one handed salute, when my DD14 gasps, "What are you doing?" She proceeds to pick up a menu and swat me several times on the head saying all the while, "How does that feel? A fly has life. Doesn't he deserve to live?" I reply, "NOT, if he lands on my banana split!" Lucky for the fly, we are able to finish our dessert before I could do him in! (I wonder how she is dealing with her Biology labs??)

Everyone has the Disney Charm and Magic here and while we are finishing up my cell phone rings! It is DH, he is here! I say "Great! Pick up the room key from the desk. We'll be over in a few minutes... finishing up lunch!" Phone rings again... "Hi, They won't let me have a room key. My name is not on the reservation and there are no notes about a key. Here is the number you need to call to talk to the Front Desk." The third time the phone rings I am RFLOL and our server (who is also LOL!) says, "Am I going to have to take that away from you so you can eat?" It was funny because it would ring every time I hung up! All was resolved and we paid the bill. One voucher for the entire meal = $11.25 + an extra tip for our lively server.

Met up with Disney Family back at the Swan and we decide to go to the Grotto pool for a little swim (and some water volleyball with the other "kids") and then over to the Boardwalk to tootle around. We go past the Surrey Bike Rental counter and YES, WE MUST! Imagine if you will, DD8 and I in the front and DD2 sandwiched between DH and DD14 in the back. Riding along the BoardWalk singing, "Flintstones, Meet the Flintstones, We're the modern stone-age family...!" Once we crossed the bridge to YC/BC side we would chant the theme song to "Sponge Bob Square Pants" (I didn't know the words but was able to repeat the refrains!) And NO...we could NOT make it up the BIG HILL! We had to get out and push (well, everyone except the driver and the baby!)
fb7732bf.jpg

This is our last day of goofing off before the serious fun starts tomorrow... we'd better get back and get rested up! See you then!
