NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Whoops! Didn't see mouseteacher's reply to Pluto...nevermind :p

Pluto - FYI - the Friendship launches make stops at the BC/YC and BWI as well as S/D. These resorts share this means of transportation.

Harleyquinn,

Hey, as librarians we answer (and ask) questions all day long, right?? <G> Yes, I do have a Starwood AMX - it is how we earn most of our points. We use it for groceries, clothes, sneakers for the kids - everything. I will agree that use it "wisely" is the key - I never carry a monthly balance, so the items I am buying don't cost me any more (those finance charges can be tough).

Thanks to the great info on this board, once we got the AMX card I upgraded to Gold Starwood status - which earns us more points when staying on Starwood property, plus bonus points. We have been able to earn free nights at the Swan, Club Level upgrade with points and this summer cash and points (only $60 a night for a deluxe Disney hotel - that is incredible).

As for being on gov buisness to use the discount - that never came up and these have always been vacations, so it shouldn't be any problem.

Good luck with the travel agent - but you are so right, if you aren't happy you can put this trip together yourself - and probably save money, too.

PS - Love your screen name - I am also a romance author, though I don't write for Harlequin!

*waving to the room* I am lost today! I was buried in sending lists/cums/packing all day long at work. At home I have only been able to access the boards using the IP address, which of course I forgot to email home, and had to email an emergency withdrawal message to Webmaster Cory. All I can say is that he rocks! He immediately sent me the IP address and I was able to "semi" log on to the boards last night to read. NOW>> super pixie dust! It works! All of us poor comcast people can "see" again!

So glad that everyone is doing great! Rain storms haven't endangered anyone. Earaches have gone away, Baby Kirk is thriving, and DF is buying us all new stingrays and taking her with us to the keys! (don't say a thing, maybe she won't notice! LOL)

My countdown is going down! Still need to call the kennel, but they're always closed by the time I get back home. Tomorrow should be a short day. CHECK OUT DAY! Today was the kids' last day of school, bittersweet as always. I kept my crying to a minimum, and still cheered when they were finally all on the bus and headed home for summer vacation. Talked with my principal today and reiterated the fact that a coworker and I were going to "tag team teach" LOL next year so I would HAVE to be back! I am glad we have a six car garage (polebarn 2cars wide/3 deep) since I have filled a car space full of boxes and bookshelves and various materials. I am hoping my husband didn't notice that part of my pile is infringing on his boat space. Hopefully it won't be a problem since my "stuff" should be gone in August, and the boat won't have to be back until October.

Happy happy joy joy the boards are back!

Actually my screen name is in reference (HA reference! librarian humor) to a comic book character. Harley Quinn is Joker's(from Batman) girlfriend.

Everyone usually assumes it's the romances, which I don't mind, but I'm more of a fantasy buff ;).

I applied for the starwood amx...I feel a shopping spree coming on...it's all for the vacation right?:D

Sarah

Hey while your here! Any honeymoon ideas? Please?

That's great hockeymom! I'm glad Baby Kirk is doing well.

I thought I would cry from disboards withdrawl! But I won't dwell, we're back!!

Can anyone give me opinions on this? I just do not know if it is worth it. I have a standard room booked thru dreamres at the dolphin at a rate of 139.00. I just recieved an email from the s/d advertising a rate of 135.00 so of course I called. The rep. that I spoke with thought I wanted to add a room to my ressies and went on to tell me that he could get me a great rate of $292.00 for an executive JR suite. I booked it because he told me I had untill mid August to cancel one of my ressies. I am not comfortable holding two rooms so I need to decide what to do. There will be five of us so the extra room would be great but its double the price and I am not rich. First off, is $292 for a jr suite a good price? What do you think I should do? Is the suite that much better?

Thanks all

These boards always amaze me........I learn so much and now I learned that Harley Quinn is Joker's girlfriend. I, also, thought you were a romance writer or reader! I will definitely remember this for the next trivia game!
#1hockeymom....isn't it a great feeling when you can see 3 months of vacation ahead.....and hopefully, you will be back, all re-energized and raring to go! And your trip is only 3 days away...get ready to sit by that pool and just take it all in! DF....we need some of those pictures of the tall, cool ones you posted so long ago!
mompoppins......I hope we can get those pics up soon. Let me know exactly what happened. I know we can fix it and we all want to see Kirk jr so bad! Not that you don't have your hands full!
DF...nice car. For that matter, nice driveway! If jgates is #1, then I get to be #2. Everyone else, get in line. Also glad dd is going to be raring to go in a few days....coming fast.
mouseteacher........you are getting there too. Won't be long. Now I want to go to Las Vegas too. Think ds would mind? Ha. It's the hottest place I can think of in August.

I have told my dh many times that if I remarry it will be at Disney World! (I have been married for 18 years so I don't see this happening!) This being said, my ideas would be to take the carriage ride with a bottle of champagne, slowly watch the castle turn colors while the masses try to exit at the same time, get a king turret room at the dolphin! (ok guys, stop laughing!) We have heard that they can be very, errrr, ummm romantic and that the balconies are great!

Have a great time!
Debbie

Harleyquinn,

Or Joker's girlfriend - hmmm, honeymoon ideas. Well, it has been 18 years since mine, but I think you will find Disney is a very romantic and adult place.

Request a room with a King bed, treat yourselves to at least one room service meal - breakfast is always fun - if you like Italian food, Palio at the Swan is nice and very romantic, be bold and daring and wear the Mickey bride and groom ears (we always get such a kick out of seeing folks in those), afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian will make you feel rather special and important, a night at Pleasure Island is very adult, late night swimming in the Swan quiet pool or spa, also pack some scented candles to give the room a little extra romance.

One guidebook, WDW for Couples, will certainly have some good ideas. I believe the author is Perlmutter. If your library doesn't own it, I'm sure you can easily ILL it!

Also, Deb Wills has a great Disney planning site -including menus, which could help you plan some romantic meals www.wdwig.com

Honestly, I think planning a Disney vacation is nearly as much fun as taking it! Enjoy!

May I please just be somewhere in the top ten? I'll even park my sting ray on the street!

Mom Poppins and Baby Kirk.

OMG He is sooo beautiful. You both look so wonderfully heathly and happy. I cannot get the tears out of my eyes. I have been a lurker here through most of this pregnancy and just had to write and congradulate your family on this perfect new addition.

No question all the prayers and pixie dust came your way!

Thank you so very much for the pix. Little Kirk Jr. truly is a handsome new face in your sea of beautiful girls. What a lucky guy!

MOM POPPINS! You LOOK FABULOUS (in a DISNEY MGM STUDIOS SHIRT...no less!) Amazingly rested...HAPPY and certainly as if you didn't just carry baby Kirk for nine months (or close), and give birth via c-section! Truly...you give "childbirth" a NEW MEANING! ;) I'm VERY impressed.

As for beautiful BABY KIRK! Another WOW! That is one "adorably" HANDSOME BOY! I know you are on top of the world...and certainly should be. Give my best to Pop Poppins...as he did a great job in your absence. :p I'm so glad to see the pics, and thank you so much for taking the time to post them. What a Lucky little boy...all the DISNEY DREAMS ahead of him...all the MAGIC of a loving family to surround him. What a WONDERFUL WORLD. ;) Get some rest. I'll be with you and Baby KIRK in thought/prayers tomorrow (for the "C"). Pixie dust for you both!

Baby Kirk is sooooo cute. His big sisters must be so happy.
Congrats!!!!

MomPoppins - I have one "word"... Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Thanks for the pictures.

Thank you for letting us have a glimpse into your family! Baby Kirk is beautiful! Mom poppins, you're gorgeous, and after child birth no less! I won't let pictures of me after giving birth be shown to anyone!

Here is hoping to a quick recovery for Robin, and baby Kirk being quickly sent home to his lovely family.

Debbie

Debbie ~ 3 days to go - how exciting! and just a week for Lisa! I feel like 34 days for us is soooooo far off. But I know it will come and the days in the World zoom by - so savor and anticipate is what I tell myself. :) It is a let down once the kids are gone. I am home today and I swear I don't know what to do with myself. I guess I'm still in a work mode.

WOW.....what a handsome young man. Your pictures are beautiful, just like Kirk jr and Robin! Sure brings back memories....hold every precious moment in your heart....he was meant to be and they grow up soooo fast. Dadpoppins, you are pretty wonderful yourself!
