NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Thanks for all of your well wishes about my health.

I am doing much better and for the first time late last night I have finally been able to keep my food down :bounce: . Also, my fever has gone down from 101.5 to 100 since last night so my antibiotics are finally working :Pinkbounc.

Like I mentioned before, I am just trying to figure out with my new found medical bills, which direction I want to go in and where to change my reservation to after I pay off these bills

I guess this is something that all WDW rookies find out and that there is something that comes out of no where that can mess up the best made plans.

I know that in 7 months and a week I will be at WDW and loving it no matter if it is a the Swan (I hope), a moderate (CBR) or even at a value (AS-Sports).

I also know that I will be going again next yr May or June 04 so if I don't make this the trip of all trips that I wanted to, there is always the next yr and I will make it the best that I can.

Thanks again for all of your well wishes. They have all helped.

Just saw on the SPG website that the Dolphin is avail. for cash and points, $60.00 and 4000 points per nite. Does anyone know if you use this plan, what kind of room you get, and if you are eligable for an up-grade with additional points?
Thanks in advance,
Murphy

DF- you new baby is soooooooooooo cute! It would love our pond!

Mouseteacher...YES! You win! ;) It was one of my FAVORITES...and still remains so (even though Disney classifies this as "extinct"). I hate to tell you the weather around here...after reading about Boston. :( It's so HOT around here...we are actually swimming, etc. Blue skies and sunshine...that's all I see...:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: . Maybe today will be better for you! I'll pray for some of our sunny weather to come your way. ;)

luckytso...So happy to read your post! What a wonderful & Magical time you enjoyed. I too, prefer the Dolphin, for many (and MORE) of the reasons you mentioned. Welcome back.

jaw62901...HOW DID I MISS THIS ONE?! :o So sorry to hear you were under the weather. :( Get plenty of REST, and keep your hopes up. I'll send some pixie dust and happy thoughts your way! ******************************************:) :)

murphy t...I believe it's for a standard room. You may ask about upgrades, as I believe they are able to process them with this type of promo. It's a great deal, and many have used this in the past. :)

hookedup...The BABY LOVES our pond as well...just not "Zyrus" (our grown Male PEKIN from Metzer Farms!). Zong (female mix duck) LOVES the baby. She has wonderful motherly instincts. But, for now, the BABY sleeps/resides peacefully inside the house. He did, however, stand on the waterfall yesterday...attempting to be "larger/bigger" than Zyrus! It was truly funny, as he "snaked" his neck/head towards this ominous-looking white fluff-ball, and squacked for all he's worth (under the ever-present supervision/watchful eye of MOI). LOL. ;)

Murphyt - I just used cash and points for a one night stay at the Swan. When I booked it..........the ressie came back as king - club level. Then, it changed to king with balcony, resort/water view about a week or so before I left. I am SPG gold.....which may have had something to do with the upgrade. I wanted Club level privileges though.......and was willing to upgrade with points when I checked in. (they gave it to me complimentary since I was only staying one night)

I also assumed it would just be a standard room. I'm sure there are many factors that go into how/why upgrades are given.

MaryG

p.s. if you go with the cash and points..........let us know what you are given!

Dreamflight........isn't your weather always that nice?? Even with two trips to Florida in the last month and a half.......I still crave more! I feel your pain Mouseteacher! My WNY weather is cooler and rainier than usual.

:o :o :o Okay....It is. :sunny: Year-round, we have clear blue skies...sunny days, and VERY LITTLE cold/rain. I adore sunshine, as it always seems to lighten my load. ;) (Rainy days & Mondays always get me down....LOL). I was trying to commiserate a bit...as "misery loves company", and I so enjoy the company on this thread~VERY MUCH!

The REAL reason we trek to Fla. each summer, is to get a TASTE of the Tropical weather (complete with humidity and mosquitoes...which we do NOT have in Cali!), and be as far away from HERE as possible! No worries, no bothers, no REAL WORLD. When in the midst of the Magic, and the Mouse's house...we LET GO. It's the BEST FEELING in the WHOLE WORLD (and VERY ADDICTING). :)

I'm so glad you were upgraded at the Swan. Are you planning another trip there soon? Hopefully, next time...you'll be able to extend your days and stay longer. The WDW SWAN/DOLPHIN are akin to LAYS potato chips...NO ONE CAN STAY JUST ONCE! (LOL). :smooth:

If you are staying at Club Level at the S/D do you have regular check in or do they do check in seperately?

Hi all........weather here (near St. L) is chilly and rainy, but clearing up. DF, pleasssse send sunshine and hot weather here on Wed. when I host my big water sports day! So worried about all the bad weather we have been having in the midwest!
Swan CL is regular check in. If you don't get someone who is polite, ask to see someone else. There are only a couple around, I think!
Jaw...sorry you have been ill.....I hope it doesn't interfere with your trip. Nothing like a trip to make us all feel a bit better.
lucky.......glad you had a great trip.
We just hooked up my daughter's laptop to my cable and she is wireless and sooo happy.
Have a good Memorial Day weekend. Drive safely and buckle up!

hookedup ~ I don't believe there is a special check in desk for CL. We checked in at the Starwood Preferred Guest check in desk and we had CL. You do have to sign in at the desk in the Club Room each time you go in.

DF ~ thanks for the "misery loves company" although your weather misery is one I could do WITH - sunny CA weather that is. Oh well, you can't control Mother Nature. :p I am just happy having a long weekend and all in my family are healthy, happy and at home. We are blessed despite the dismal weather. :)

DH and I are looking forward to tonight's telecast of the Memorial Day program held in Washington, DC. It airs on our local PBS station. We look forward to this every year. It is a moving tribute to our armed forces.

Jason ~ justa suggestion --- have you thought of booking the FairyTale Package ? You could stay at a Disney resort / deluxe-mod-or value depending on your current financial circumstances. 7 days for the price of 4 is a terrific deal!

ozzie ~ I'll pray for sun for you on Wed. We have our school wide picnic on June 11th. The kids really love this day - parents set up games, face painting, slush machine, a DJ for group fun dances and McDonald's for lunch. Hopefully, by then, spring will have arrived in Boston.

Mouseteacher,

As I mentioned in my PM to you, I would love to do FTP but I am going Dec 26 to Jan 3 and and FTP is only going through Octomber.

Thanks for the help anyways.

I am actually thinking about going all out at AS-Sports and doing the gold dreammaker package and then doing my all out trip of all trips in May or Jun of 04 when the rates are cheaper.

oops... Jason forgot about the time of year.

I have stayed at AsSp and I'm sure with the gold pakage you are thinking of, it should be fine. One person in the AS rooms still gives you space. It is different from staying at a deluxe; so, prepare yourself in advance so that you are not disappointed. ASSp will be a different experience from the Swan/Dolphin. I'm not saying it will be negative - just different.

Whenever I go to WDW, no matter the resort (and I have stayed at deluxes, mods and value) I am just thrilled that I am in WDW and make the most of my time there. You will be in the "happiest place on earth" --so enjoy and don't worry about where you are staying. Disney does its very best to make all resorts have that Disney magic/feel. Let us know what you decide to do.

between a "Standard" Room at the Swan and a "Deluxe" room?

Hi everybody! I was able to book at the Swan and was wondering what the difference is between the two rooms? More space? Supposed to have 2 queen beds on the CL floor...

Thanks for any and all responses!

I was just crunching #'s and there still is a chance that I could stay at CBR. It is now really between CBR and AS-Sports which is really disipointing :( . I was really hoping to beable and go all out on this trip since I haven't been since 1980 and though that the club level at the Swan sounded great.

I am sure that you guys are right and that no matter where I stay I will still enjoy myself.

Thanks for all your well wishes.

:sunny: Mouseteacher...your cup runneth over w/sunshine! After all, it's truly dependent on the choices/perspective we each have. If you leave your "worries on your doorstep"...you'll ALWAYS live in the SUNSHINE (in your heart/soul). Continue to Count the blessings, (I do TOO), and you'll see the sunshine :sunny: flowing through. ;)

DD's school also does the carnival/picnic fun party! What a BLAST! I'll be with you in thought on the 11th. DD has her wisdom teeth extracted on the 14th (all four at once). Hope all goes well. I know this will be painful, but at least she'll be better by the time we leave for WDW.

Thanks again, for the reminder of the telecast of the memorial events in Washington (ours is also on PBS). We too, enjoy the tribute, and all the reminders of how very fortunate we are to LIVE in such a wonderful country. :)

Jason...I agree 100% w/mousteacher. No matter WHERE you stay in the world, you are BLESSED just to be able to STAY ON PROPERTY (VALUE, MOD, DELUXE, etc.). ;) Your health is certainly a "priority", and takes precedence over these trips to the world. In order to "enjoy" the journey/visit, you must be in good health. Take care of yourself, so you'll be 100% recovered by this December. I'll keep a ,ook-out for any packages...and deals which may benefit you. :)

Ozzie...I'll send you some sunshine, ASAP! What a cool thing you have done for DD (wireless). The things we do for LOVE. (LOL). I took DD to the VW dealership (again...millionth time), to TEST DRIVE the Green VW Beetle (Turbo S). She loves it...and I have to say, me too. The leather seats are super-comfy, the engine nice and quiet/smooth, the amenities (sun-roof, CD player, Side Air Bags) are wonderful. Most of all, she adores the little "vase" on the dash! :p She will have fresh flowers where ever she travels. It's a cute little car, (almost toy-like), and great on gas, ins. etc. She's so practical. Many of her friends have cars like Vipers, BMW's and MB's, Jags...but she selects the Beetle. ;) Makes me SO proud. :)

Disbug...usually refers to "view", as the standard room offers a "standard" view, and the Deluxe offers a DELUXE view (theme park, water, etc.). This is pretty much an industry standard, and all the rooms listed in this catagory usually offer a limited/no view. Sometimes, the deluxe may be larger, or offer upgraded accomodations, features and furnishings. With the WDW Swan/Dolphin...it's all about the VIEW/BALCONY. ;)

We are staying close to home for this weekend. We do not like to travel on the BIG Holidays, and enjoy the R & R of being H-O-M-E.
We'll be in Florida for the 4th of July, and will travel from VERO to WDW to see some fireworks! Due to the "turtles nesting on the beach" there are no fireworks at Vero or in the area. It only takes us less than an hour to get to WDW, so it will be a fun eve. Of course, if we see something advertised in the area, or closer...we may go check-it-out. I've heard some things about CELEBRATION doing the 4th in style...and will have to confirm this before we leave.

Enjoy the WEEKEND. BBQ...SWIM...RELAX.
:sunny:

dreamflight99,

You are great.

I think that I will go with the gold dream maker package at at either All-Star resorts or CBR so everything will be taken care of except for money to purchase souveniors and my transportation to and from the airport.

I am feeling much better today and with having tommorrow off I will just sleep in and get as much rest as I can.

What ever I decide, will have to wait until I find out what my insurance will cover (they should cover 80% after I pay the $100 deductable). I don't want to do a package deal for All-Star sports and then find out that the doctor bills aren't that bad and I can pay for CBR or vice versa.

A couple of things:

1. Can I get breakfast at AS-Sports with the gold dream maker package?

2. If I do put a deposit down on one and then have to change it can the deposit just be transfered over, or will it have to be refunded and a new deposit paid.

Thanks for your well wishes and your great help.

"You're welcome". ;) I'm still holding-out hope for the Swan, but either way...you can not go wrong. :)

Yes, you can get BF at the *** w/DM Gold package. Also, the deposit can be transferred through CRO to any other package you need to make.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. REST...works MAGIC! Of course...planning an upcoming trip to WDW is as beneficial as a hot cup of chicken noodle soup. ;)
