NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

dreamflight excellent photos, are they taken with your digital camera?? I set one of the pool shots as my desktop, i figure i'll change it every day for the next 13 days!!!
Will I mind not having a balcony if i upgrade to CL??? Trying to decide if the rooms are any better or views etc...

disnurse ~ DH was hoping for a comp upgrade balcony. I was thrilled with the CL. We have so little time to sit out on a balcony. The times we were back in our room for R and R we rested in the a/c (we were there in the heat of summer). We spent a great deal of time at the pool every afternoon; so, I did not miss a balcony. I LOVE CL - I've never had that amenity before in all my travels (never fit our budget). Ignorance WAS bliss then -- now I know the luxury of CL and I am forever spoiled.

Thanks to the spg program and S/D, we were able to enjoy the "richer" (hehehe) side of life.

OK folks - I have stayed at the Dolphin many times but never use the big pool as my girls like the smaller (warmer one). We will be down next in mid april and I think it will be warm enough to use the grotto pool and slides. YEAH

Does the Dolphin allow personal tubes or noodles in the Grotto pool - if so I will birng infatable ones from home. Or is it better to just rent one.

Last trip at the BC we would rent a tube or two for the day and often they were "swiped" but other guests - usually children. Not really a problem but certainly annoyoing. TIA

See that lovely area behind the waterfall in the shade? That's where I sat and read while DD played with new-found friends. So relaxing with the waterfall noise & the shade!

DF - I emailed for my arrival date shown on the countdown clock below! I musn't press my luck! (Or maybe I will...........) If I would get off my lazy duff and put all the junk around here on Ebay, I would have enough for at least the room!

We never tried room service. I couldn't quite hack (never can!) the add'l charges to have it delivered to your room. We loved Tubbi's & also went to ESPN on Boardwalk a couple of nights -beautiful walk! DS & I would order just Nachos from the appetizer menu as the order was HUGE! We would get the game contollers from the store so DS & DD could play (sat in the bar area). Even when I am away on business, I can't psychologically justify room service expense. Oh, well.............

I believe you can take your own pool items - it seemed to be a pretty LARGE variety of items being used that day! We didn't - don't know why- we took everything else in the back of the windstar!

Thanks DF for responding to my question about parking our trailer. I never saw the "Back" of the parking lot because we got such excellent up front parking spots last summer. I'm very encouraged it might have room for us there. I will call closer to our travel time. As you can see from my clock, we have a LONG wait! I remember your pictures from last summer during the Dodge convention where they "floated" the Viper around the lake.

Maybe we can unload the race car and have it "floated" as well. What a great way to keep an eye on it don't you agree?

I have a new picture of our car I must share.

The bacon & grilled cheese sandwich I had at the Dolphin Fountain was one of the yummiest things I had on our entire trip. It hit the spot and then some...

DF Love the pictures.We'll be there in three weeks after spending a few nights at the Royal Pacific at Universal(first time leaving Disney), I can't wait. I too hope for that complimentary upgrade to CL but am willing to pay with points if necessary. Anyway, I was wondering if there are any renovated rooms at the Dolphin yet. Has anyone heard if they've started refurbishing?

Although I don't post as often as some of my S/D Dis friends, I'm always checking in to see how everyone is doing. It really has become a daily ritual, I'm addicted.

Isn't Royal Pacific just a wonderous place? I would like to squeeze in a couple of nites there before we get to the Swan next trip (or maybe after we leave) but I think I booked 12 or 14 nites at the Swan - that is a hefty vacation................

I loved the FOL access! One night wasn't enough for us.

You will not mind the lack of balcony, as the windows are HUGE (to the floor). This resort has one of the BEST ventilation and A/C systems in all of the MAGIC. I LOVE the exec. suite...and it w/o the balcony.

Olena..."WELCOME BACK"! YOU HAD the CORNER KING W/TURRET! Fabulous way to see the WORLD! So glad you loved it. Am awaiting your post and pics.

OZZIE...Umm, YES! I have no idea how to minimize these (Oh, photo-swami-guru, you!) and just decided to post them FULL SIZE! I'm so glad none of you complained...and all of you have enjoyed these. Thanks, for being so gracious....all of the time. You are indeed, a wonderful group of "friends", and your kind comments make my day.

jgates...I too, have sat in that area behind the waterfall! What a pool...makes me want to DIVE right in! Ebay...you and me BOTH! Hey, I've made some pretty pennies on that forum. One woman's junk is another woman's TREASURE! LOL. I LOVE the RS offered by the Swan/Dolphin, and treat myself & Fam a couple of times or more to this "indulgence" (it's a true TREAT). They have a kids menu, which is FABULOUS...and VERY PRICE-APPROPRIATE. The food is TOP-RATE, and always WAY MORE than you picture. It's worth the extra, if only once. Give it a try, j...

tjmw2727...as jgates wrote...you can take in any pool items you wish. goggles, noodles and even rafts or floats, etc. This is one of the BEST pools in all of WDW.

Debbie7452...WOW~! The pic. of the car truly Kicks-butt! I'm impressed...and then some. I definitely believe the back lot can accomodate your trailer. I've seen all the rigs parked back there too. After all, what are they going to do? If I were you...I'd pull up and toss the keys to the VALET...LOL! Of course, the VIPER-FLOATING trick would suffice quite well. Oh, and the bacon & Cheese grilled sandwich...now you're talking.

mom23guys2...You must tell me how you enjoy the RP. We always stay at the PBH, and love the Villa Suite (we are addicted to this suite now...the parlor is amazing). We are staying four eves before our 7 nights at Disney's Vero beach this summer. We ADORE the FOTLA...and would still stay w/o this perk. When we first stayed in the PBH, the RP or the HRH were not open (well, the RP did not exist then). We have stayed every year since it opened, this being our fourth. It's an incredible place, and we love the Citywalk (much like the one here at USH). We enjoy Emeril's place, and also take in a flick while there. We do both parks the entire time we are there...and have the BEST time! Ask for an UPGRADE at the RP too. I've heard they are receptive at times, and it's worth the ASKING! I have heard they are in the midst of renovating at the Dolphin, but believe only the suites are completed. I hope someone traveling there in the next month can shed more light. Hope you are successful with your complimentary (request for) CL upgrade. ENJOY!

We are wondering if it will be practical for us to buy the mugs that are available for the Swan/Dolphin.
I understand that they are only good at Tubbi's in the Dolphin. What type of walking distance are we talking about to get our mugs filled?

Thank you DF for your compliments. We are very proud of the car especially since my DH built it completely himself. It started out as a pile of loose tubing!

Although I would love to see the look on the valet's face when pulling our rig up for valet service, I think I might have a hard time convincing DH to turn over the keys. Remember that scene from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"? Imagine valets gone wild with a real race car! LOL Of course, I'm just joking...I'm sure the valet's at the S/D are absolutely professional.

Sorry, I don't know about the refillable mugs. I missed these on our last trip but I plan to get one next time. It was said recently that they are sometimes refilled at the Pool Bar which would be convenient for Swan folks it seems.

long time lurker and fan of the S/D (check the signature ) I am blessed to have pixie dust sprinkled on me....I have an amazing rate to stay at the Dolphin with a resort view/balcony. I am curious to know if you can buy points--I don't have quite enough for a CL upgrade

I enjoy reading the thread....can't wait to go back! We are celbrating our daughter's 2nd birthday on our next trip--the time has gone by so fast, I can't believe it!

LOL...YES, I LOVE this scene. Cameron's (actually, his fathers) car...is driven WILDLY over the city streets...while they are completely oblivious! too funny! Of course, the Valets at the Swan/Dolphin would NEVER do any such thing!

snels...just a few feet. I also understand they are getting better at refilling these throughout the property. The mugs are $10, and a WONDERFUL MEMENTO of your Stay. They are stylish, and resemble a starbucks coffee travel mug.

madge...Hello, LURKER (Now POSTER), So glad you are visiting the Swan/Dolphin. I do not believe you are able to purchase any points. But, if you are short...they may be willing to just accomodate you with a free upgrade for the remaining time. It's always worth your while to ASK. Good luck, and ENJOY!

As for posting pics, I played around til I figured it out! I uploaded them into Image Station, then I highlighted the pic I wanted to use and right clicked on it. I clicked on properties and copied the url address. Then I went to my post and clicked on IMG and pasted the url in the window that popped up, then clicked ok. Then I previewed my post, and wala! my pic was there.

One of the funniest movies, along with the "Money Pit", "planes, trains and automobiles"..."there's something about Mary" & "Meet the Parents"! I LOVE a great comedy.

AS for the headache....Mouseteacher....My DH cheers and yells as IF THEY CAN HEAR HIM! Thank goodness we are not at the Dolphin during this time...as they would think it was an argument! HeHe...he gets upset when they don't do as well as he believes they should...it's SO FUNNY!

Kelli...I wish you a SAFE & HAPPY Trip to France. Please, post all about your trip upon your return. I too, pray each day for a quick resolution to this War...and hope everyone returns safely. It is a terrible situation...for all involved.
