I saw somewhere that many loops were being redone and that there were some changes to which loops were for dogs. I can't, however, remember where I saw it in order to go back and see it again. It also talked about which sites were now going to be upgraded, etc. Can anyone help me find this information? Thanks :confused3

Here is from the Fort FAQ. The upgrade is going MUCH slower than originally advertised. Only 1 loop (500) is confirmed as being upgraded to Premium so far. They are currently adding cable to 1600 - 1900 now, there are no signs that 1500 and 2000 have had any cable work done yet.

Do anyone know what the schedule is for renovation? I just made a reservation for February for Full Hook Up. According to what I've read when the renovations are complete all sites are with cable. Not sure what I have at this point.

Here is some info that I found about the refurb:

The new rumors are that 1600 - 1900 are going to remain full hookup, but with cable. Of those 4 loops, 1600 & 1800 will be pet loops.

Has 200 been converted to a pet loop? We were staying in 211 and a site directly across from us had 2 pets. Now the dog was great and if you didn't see him you wouldn't have known he was there, I was just curious if the 'pet loop designation' was really enforced...

They seem to put pets anywhere if they have too. I have seen them in both the 1500, and 2000 partial hook up loops. If they will put them there they will put them anywhere.

I have noticed that many people "forget" to tell Disney that they have pets. I have stayed at the fort 3 times a year for about 6 years and almost every time, there were pets in our "Non-pet" loop.

I have even had pet owners tell me that they do it on purpose, because they don't like being around other peoples pets. Nice, Huh?

I have only complained once, when someones dog barked all night long and Disney offered me to move to another site, and did nothing to the pet owner, even though it was a non pet loop.

Aw geez, that's just wrong. And I suppose their pets are perfectly well behaved and never bark and are always cleaned up after, right? This is exactly the attitude of people that ruin it for those of us who do our best to be responsible and respectful pet owners. :sad2:

We travel with 2 border collies and schedule our days around making sure they're exercised, occupied, settled and quiet while we're away. We do test runs the first couple of days until we're sure they're solidly into the new routine and always check with our neighbors to make sure they're not being disruptive - no complaints in (4) 2-week stays so far!

We clean up after them religiously - no matter how far "out of the way" they may leave their deposits - and don't let them harass other campers whether they have 2 legs or 4.

Why is it that some people can't recognize that the rules are really just there for the good of EVERYone and follow them? If only people could see beyond their own little lives and realize there are other people in the world that deserve the same consideration and respect that they do.

Oops... sorry... dreaming a little there.... gotta go stock up on clean-up bags for our trip in December. :santa:

I'm sure that the overwhelming majority of pet owners are loving, considerate people that do the responsible thing. But unfortunately, there are those out there that are very inconsiderate and don't clean up after their pets or bring them inside when they bark all night long.

Unfortunately. that's probably why pet loops have been created, in the first place, because so many complaints were coming in about the irresponsible owners.

Oh for sure! Unfortunately it's the few "bad apples" that, over time, end up ruining it for the rest of us. <sigh>

Doesn't help that Disney is more than a little lax about enforcing the rules either. Totally ridiculous to ask *you* to move because someone else isn't following the rules. :sad2:

Is the pet designation a booking category or do they just note it on your reservation?

It's just noted on your reservation. There are pet loops in both preferred and premium categories.

The new rumors are that 1600 - 1900 are going to remain full hookup, but with cable. Of those 4 loops, 1600 & 1800 will be pet loops.

I called two weeks ago to confirm with CRO that the 1700 was a pet, full hookup loop and the agent took the time to call the front desk at FW and confirmed pet, full hookup. Well, when we checked in yesterday they put us in the 1800 loop which was a dirt pit since they had recently put some more dirt at the site which I was assigned. I relayed my phone call with CRO and they told me that one week ago they were given notice to change the 1700 and 1900 loop to preferred pet. I guess since they have cable now, they are upgrading them to get more money. The only two loops that are pet, full hookup are 1600 and 1800. The assistant manager that I spoke with said that after the first of the year, there will be more changes coming regarding loop designations. Change is good but this constant state of uncertainty is :confused3 :confused3

A dirt pit..and they have you paying extra for that!
We were in the 600 loop the end of Sept. and while that isn't a pet loop, there was someone with two dogs in the loop. I think that people lie about whether they have pets or not. Across from us they had two dogs..and next to us..they had a dog also. While I have a dog..we didn't bring him and preferred to be in a non pet loop. However, the 600 loop was really nice, and I'd stay there again.

This is interesting because the initial plan was for 1700 and 1900 to be non pet loops, and 1600 and 1800 to be pet loops. So now the entire section of 1600 - 1900 will be pet loops. This seem to be a good idea.:thumbsup2 This way your not confined to one loop while walking your pet. Also, if they keep it this way, maybe they will make the 4 loop area more "pet friendly".

I don't think that anything that might be happening right now with regard to what loops are pet loops should be viewed as permanent. My suspicion is that they are using the 1700 and 1900 loops as preferred pet loops because the previous preferred pet loops are being closed one at a time for conversion to premium sites (i.e. first the 500 loop, and currently the 800 loop). So, this is Disney's way of still getting the revenue for a preferred pet loop reservation.

Eventually, from what I have seen, all of the loops in the 1600-1900 area are going to be preferred. It makes sense for 1600 and 1800 to be pet loops, as these loops have access to a pet walk area. For whatever reason, the cable has been connected in the 1700 and 1900 loops, but not in the 1600 and 1800 loops. But, I will bet that will change within a few weeks.

Until all of the changes are complete, there is going to be a lot of confusion.

We were there this past weekend and requested a pet loop on our reservations. When we checked-in, the lady called over a manager to see what pet loop they could move us to. He said they were jammed pack and had to leave us in the 400 loop and that it really didn't matter right now. There were no other pets in our loop and no one questioned her being there. I'm guessing they just have everything up in the air right now. . .

Wow that's interesting. I guess that could certainly happen to me as well. I am booked at a Premium pet loop (req. loop 800). I guess I better be prepared to be flexiable, they just better not plan on charging me a premium rate and then putting me in a preferred loop.
