New Disneyland hotel?

A while back (a few months ago?) I did one of those surveys Disneyland emails out, and it was all about a theoretical new hotel for Disneyland. Questions about what level of theming I prefer, room styles, location, and room layouts. Did anyone else here get this? Is there a new hotel on the horizon for DL?

They do surveys like that a lot. Disney did buy a hotel across the street early last year but that's still operating as is.

I've heard lots of rumors about a new hotel for quite a while. Some people even say Disney has long-term plans to develop the resort as more of a destination, with some people even talking about a water park/third gate, which I doubt is in the plans at the moment.

Right now I don't think they plan to do that much. Definitely expand the current parks and address the parking issues. The hotel is probably in the plans as well.

Yes, Disney has been talking about adding domestic room capacity to either Disneyland, Walt Disney World, or both. Expect that to take place eventually. The way you're describing it makes it seem like they're going to be building it from the ground up. Interesting. The Resort District is only on track to get more popular. Perhaps as they prepare to announce their Downtown Disney replacement we'll get more info on their long term plan.

As rteetz notes, Disney does a lot of surveys. In fact, they have an entire in-house division that only does research:

Since it can be done in-house, Disney will create surveys on many different topics. That includes things that might not be done for years (if ever). I wouldn't take an individual survey as proof that something is imminent.

That said, I believe luisov is correct in saying that Disney is interested in expanding the number of hotel rooms domestically. So, this survey probably is seeking opinions on something that will probably happen eventually.

With their Star Wars expansion underway (well prepping) at Disneyland and a Marvel expansion supposed to come to DCA at some point, I can see why they might think another hotel was worth considering.

Looks like the Anaheim Plaza will be razed and replaced with a 4 Diamond Hotel.
