If you were writing a guide book for "Disney Families", what traditions of your own would you like to pass along?

Basically, we don't really have any traditions, and I would like to start one, but I need some ideas. :confused3

I mean, we usually eat at DTD the first night we get there, and we always eat at the Crystal Palace at MK.

But I am looking for something different or unique, something to look forward to on top of the pure excitement of being in the happiest place on earth.

Make sense? If it doesn't then you can tell me I am loco!!!

Not sure if this is what you mean...but here is what we did and loved. May was our first family trip w/DS5, DD2, MIL, and FIL. At MK my DH and DS split off and went their own way and my DD and I went ours for awhile. We had so much fun and it was special because the kids got to experience the attractions in a different way. My DD and I are already talking about getting her first pedicure together when we go back, she loves her "pretty toes". We are planning a trip about every 2 years and this will be something we do each time, DD and I will have our time and DH and DS will have theirs.

We always try to ride the front of the monorail at least once every trip.

We love to surprise the kids with tinkerbell gifts and this year will be making autograph books, as DS loved collecting autographs and posing with characters last years. We are going to try pin trading this year, so if the kids get into it, it may end up being a tradition. I love the idea of special time with the kids :)

We always choose one ornament from each vacation that becomes central to our Christmas Tree. It's a big deal everyear when we break out our vaction memory box. We buy a truly heirloom piece for this.

Also, we always take a family photo in front of the castle and use it for our Holiday Cards and keep the collection of castle photos together on our staircase.

Finally, each night before bed, our kids dictate that favorite things about the day that we right in our travel journal. Looking back over the years, their thoughts and insights are invaluable. And, reading about previous trips always gets them pumped for the coming ones.

Hope this helps!

I like the x-mas ornament idea...and not just for Disney..for all vacations. We buy them now and then at different places we go, but not always. It seems like it would be a fun tradition!

We have at least an 18 hr. drive getting to Orlando since we drive "straight through-meaning we don't stay somewhere over nite-we drive all nite." We get there mid-afternoon. One of my family's traditions is unloading everything into our rooms and then getting all showered and dressed up. Then we go somewhere nice out to eat for dinner and then check out all the shops at Down Town Disney. Walking around DTD gets us in the Disney spirit and excited to go to the parks the next day.
