As a loyal and enthusiastic 20-year
DVC member I have to say I am truly disappointed how we “landed”
as a group in all this.
I’ve been supportive of Disney throughout this unprecedented pandemic and the challenges for the company are indeed enormous. I also completely agree with keeping capacity at a minimum over the next several (or more) months to keep guests and CM’s as safe as possible.
However, the fact that the thousands (?) of DVC members who have reservations already booked between now and September 2021 may now not be able to get into a park during their stay because they hadn’t previously purchased a park pass seems really unreasonable.
In addition, as they are allowing the general public to book new 2021 reservations on Monday and buy park passes at that time as part of a “package” this also leaves DVC members out of the equation, and simply adds insult to injury.
We had already moved our November 2020 reservation to next March but hadn’t bought tickets yet (we have AP’s expiring later this summer and weren’t sure whether we were going to buy 7-day passes or APs for next year, since we have to fly down from Boston). Thus we now can’t make park reservations for our March 2021 trip. While I certainly anticipate as capacity opens up there may be more opportunities to secure park reservations, it just seems to place unreasonable stress on their loyal group of DVC members.
We are now talking about moving to next fall but then we have to deal with the 50th craziness. And I have to use a LOT of points by the end of next November given all the banking that had to happen, or we will lose them. Ugh.
Perhaps there will be upcoming news this week for DVC members that mitigate some of these challenges but it certainly seems there could have been a better way to handle this!
