New Disney Shopping Experience

We usually vacation in the summer. At that time, I usually don't have the funds to do extensive Christmas shopping. This will solve that conundrum!!

Im sure this will only be available to those in the US (to start with at least) but i think it's a great idea

I wonder if the app will allow you to use your AP/DVC discount. If not, for the most part it would just be window shopping for me then.

Yes it will only be for the U.S. When it goes live. It also will only have shipping to home when it goes live but eventually you will be able to ship to your resort or front of the park pick up.

I wonder if the prices will be the same as those in the parks? Usually, online items are less expensive than those bought at bricks and mortar stores.
Then again, Disney may actually charge more for the "convenience" of not having to travel to the parks to purchase a specific item.

I think it is nothing more than going online/app with what we can do now by calling the Walt Disney World Merchandising department and placing an order. More convenient to be sure.

I like it!

Here's what I found on it:

An new app, called Shop Disney Parks, is slated to be released in the coming weeks to help you in your quest to find elusive (and not-so-elusive) merchandise at Disney-operated stores across Walt Disney World.

Shop Disney Parks will allow guests to search for a particular item, and the app will tell you where to find it at the parks and/or resorts, as well as an estimate of the quantity remaining at the location. In addition to the standard merchandise, the app will also work with limited edition items such as pins and Vinylmation.

The app, which will be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, is a separate app from My Disney Experience, although the two apps will be linked in the future for ease of navigation. It is not planned to be linked to the Disneyland App at this time.

While some Disney Parks merchandise is available at DisneyStore.com, the Shop Disney Parks app will have a much bigger selection – almost all of the merchandise that can be purchased at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Unlike the existing offerings at the DisneyStore.com site, the new app will offer nearly the full range of merchandise available in the parks, and should once-and-for-all resolve that problem of - “I wish I had bought it when I was there..”

Called ‘Shop Disney Parks,’ the app will allow guests to locate, order, and ship merchandise from any Disney operated retail store at Walt Disney World.

If you are shopping at home within the US, the app will let you browse, buy and then ship the items directly. If you are already in the parks, the app will have the capability to browse, buy and then ship to the front of park, or for resort guests, directly to the hotel.

Inside the stores, guests will be able to scan the merchandise for more information about the product.

By linking in with My Disney Experience, the app will also honor discounts, such as Annual Pass and Disney Vacation Club discounts.

The app will be launching soon, and will be available for iOS devices, such as iPhone and iPad, and Android.

App has launched on Google play for Android (just now, literally only 20 people have downloaded it)

Just downloaded it for iOS. Not sure if it has every item available in the parks just yet, but there's quite a bit to buy.

The best forms of customer service involve giving people what they want.

So if people want this (and I think they do) then it's both a money grab and customer service. There is a point at which saying, "it was done for profit" becomes redundant.
I agree. Jeez, give it a break. How dare a company try to make a profit.

Downloaded it on my iPhone last night. I like that you can see if something is in stock while you're in the park, but does anyone know if/when the in stock feature will show for Disneyland as well? Right now I'm only getting WDW.

Firstly is Disney doing this because they can make a buck, yes. It's a business, though many of us may think it more like Uncle Walt's toy shop, it isn't.

It will cut down on those pirates that buy up popular merchandise in the parks and sell it on eBay for triple the cost. Looking at you Dooney Haunted Mansion bags.

We must remember those poor souls that may only get to Disney once or twice in a lifetime.

It seems like it could backfire. This will be my thinking " I can buy it online, why don't I wait a month after my vacation to see if I really want it"

I have it. Not only does it allow you to buy anything in the Parks from home, which I love, but it will also help you while in the Parks. It will allow you to scan and check items and find the closest store for an item you want to purchase. Yes, a few people will not feel the need to purchase an item. I have bought a few things because I knew I couldn't buy it later. But for every person that waits there will be 10 people at home purchasing and 2 people in the parks that find something using the app. I love it already.

Disney has announced that they will allow shoppers to buy most everything sold in the parks from a new app. From anywhere in the US you can order from this app called 'Shop Disney Parks'. This app will let shoppers from home ship right to your house or if your in the parks it can ship to your hotel or the front of the park. This is really gonna help the "I wish I would of gotten that" problem I know I have when I get home from my vacation. What are your thoughts?

I feel like it takes away the magic of being exclusive at Disney. I wish they had it set up kind of like reservations. You can only purchase or view so many days in advanced before your reservations.
